The third-party FFT IP cores available in today’s markets do not provide the desired speed demands for optical communication. This study deals with the design and implementation of a 256-point Radix-4 100 Gbit/s FFT, where computational steps are reconsidered and optimized for high-speed applications, such as radar and fiber optics. Alternative methods for FFT implementation are investigated and Radix-4 is decided to be the optimal solution for our fully parallel FPGA application. The algorithms that we will implement during the development phase are to be tested on a Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA platform. The proposed FFT core has a fully parallel architecture with a latency of nine clocks, and the target clock rate is 312.5 MHz.
Variations in the hysteretic behavior of LRBs as a function of applied loading

The study presented herein focused on the change in hysteretic force-deformation behavior of lead rubber bearings (LRBs). The material model used to idealize response of LRBs under cyclic motion is capable of representing the gradual attrition in strength of isolator unit on account of lead core heating. To identify the effect of loading history on the hysteretic response of LRBs, a typical isolator unit is subjected to cyclic motions with different velocity, amplitude and number of cycles. Furthermore, performance of an LRB isolated single degree of freedom system is studied under different seismic input levels. Finally, the significance of lead core heating effect on LRBs is discussed by considering the current design approach for base isolated structures. Results of this study show that the response of an LRB is governed strongly by the amplitude and number of cycles of the motion and the considered seismicity level.
Long-term outcomes of intraoperative and perioperative albendazole treatment in hepatic hydatidosis

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term outcome of the intraoperative and perioperative albendazole (ALB) treatment on the recurrence and/or secondary hydatidosis. Methods: One hundred and one patients with hepatic hydatidosis were treated intraoperatively and perioperatively with ALB, in addition to surgery. Perioperative ALB treatment was given in a dose of 12?15 mg/kg/day. The ALB treatment was started 13.27 ± 14.34 days before the surgery, and it was continued for 4.39 ± 3.11 months postoperatively. A total of 1.7 mg/mL of ALB solution was used as a protoscolidal agent. The follow-up period was 134.55 ± 51.56 months. Results: Four patients died, with only one death was secondary to hydatid disease (cerebral eccinococcus). There was only one recurrence (1%) of hepatic hydatidosis. Early and late morbidity rates were 8.91% and 7.92%, respectively. Conclusion: Our results suggest that intraoperative and perioperative ALB is effective for the prevention of hepatic hydatidosis recurrence and/or secondary hydatidosis.
