<P>The shear wave elastography (SWE) uses the acoustic radiation force to measure the stiffness of tissues and is less operator dependent in data acquisition compared to strain elastography. However, the reproducibility of the result is still interpreter dependent. The purpose of this study is to develop a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) method to differentiate benign from malignant breast tumors using SWE images. After applying the level set method to automatically segment the tumor contour and hue-saturation value color transformation, SWE features including average tissue elasticity, sectional stiffness ratio, and normalized minimum distance for grouped stiffer pixels are calculated. Finally, the performance of CAD based on SWE features are compared with those based on B-mode ultrasound (morphologic and textural) features, and a combination of both feature sets to differentiate benign from malignant tumors. In this study, we use 109 biopsy-proved breast tumors composed of 57 benign and 52 malignant cases. The experimental results show that the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and the area under the receiver operating characteristic ROC curve (Az value) of CAD are 86.5%, 93.0%, 89.9%, and 0.905 for SWE features whereas they are 86.5%, 80.7%, 83.5% and 0.893 for B-mode features and 90.4%, 94.7%, 92.3% and 0.961 for the combined features. The Az value of combined feature set is significantly higher compared to the B-mode and SWE feature sets (p = 0.0296 and p = 0.0204, respectively). Our results suggest that the CAD based on SWE features has the potential to improve the performance of classifying breast tumors with US. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.</P>
Effect of water treatment on transparent semiconductor InZnSnO thin films
Moon, J.C.,Aksoy, F.,Ju, H.,Liu, Z.,Mun, B.S. Elsevier 2011 Current Applied Physics Vol.11 No.3
The effects of water exposure on InZnSnO transparent thin films are reported. After the immersion of InZnSnO films under de-ionized water, an enrichment of In (and Sn) and a reduction of Zn are found on the surface, probed with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In addition, O 1s core-level XPS spectra show a presence of hydroxyl after the water immersion process, supporting that the adsorption of H2O to InZnSnO surface may induces partial negative charge to surface with either molecular to hydroxyl forms.

<P>We study for the first time the internal structure of Te-140 through the beta-delayed gamma-ray spectroscopy of Sb-140. The very neutron-rich Sb-140 nuclei with Z = 51 and N = 89 were produced by the in-flight fission of U-238 beams at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory, RIKEN. The half-life and spin-parity of Sb-140 are reported as 173 +/- 12 ms and 3(-), respectively. In addition to the excited states of Te-140 produced by the beta-decay branch, the beta-delayed one-neutron and two-neutron emission branches were also established. By identifying the first 2(+) and 4(+) excited states of Te-140, we found that Te isotopes persist in their vibrator character with E(4(+))/E(2(+)) = 2. We discuss the distinctive features manifest in this region revealed in pairs of isotopes with the same neutron holes and particles with respect to N = 82.</P>

A total of 125 pigs (5.8 kg BW, 21 d of age) were allotted in a completely randomized block design experiment. Dietary treatment added carbohydrate sources : corn starch, lactose, glucose, sucrose or dried whey in corn-soybean meal based diet. Each treatment has 5 replicates with 5 pigs per replicate. Lactose, sucrose and dried whey supported a better growth performance than starch and glucose (p < 0.05) during the first and second week postweaning. However, in the third week postweaning no difference was found in ADG and ADFI among treatment. For overall period, pigs fed lactose, sucrose and dried whey diets showed similar growth performance and were superior to starch and glucose. The gross energy digestibility in pigs fed lactose, sucrose and dried whey diets were similar and significantly higher than those fed glucose and starch diets (p < 0.05). DM digestibility was not significantly affected by other carbohydrate sources except starch. Pigs fed lactose, sucrose and dried whey showed the best nitrogen digestibility. In all nutrients digestibility, there was no significant difference among treatment except starch and glucose diet. DM excretion was lower in pigs fed lactose, sucrose and dried whey than pigs fed starch and glucose. In conclusion, it appeared that sucrose could be effectively incorporated in baby pig diet without sacrificing growth performance.
