      • 연구논문 : 개화기소설과 문명 공간으로서의 바다

조용호 ( Yongho Cho ) 시학과 언어학회 2015 시학과 언어학 Vol.29 No.-

This article is about how the sea is realized in novels of the time of enlightenment. The sea in classic novels was a natural space on that human``s will and objective were not reflected. The sea in Pyeoherok was merely a dangerous space that influenced on human survival. Until Choseon Dynasty, the sea in narrative literature was just a natural space that the human element was entirely excluded. However the situation of surrounding Korean narrative literature has been rapidly changed by the foreign culture and the trend of enlightenment. Accordingly, the press started to emphasize the ``travel`` for the purpose of understanding foreign countries from the end of 19th century. This thought has been actively reflected on novels from 20th century. In the course of being reflecting, the sea was turned to a concrete and actual space that was closely related in human life. In this point of view, one of the important characteristics of novels in the time of enlightenment must be the discovery of sea as a civilized space. Yeo-yeong-ung and Seo-he-pung-pa were examples of those novels. Yeo-yeong-ung focused on the course that an island in the middle of sea was developed from primitive and unenlightened country into a powerful nation. Seo-he-pung-pa was not only concerned with the sea itself to arouse an exploration or an adventure, but also with the building and operating of modern ship. That is to say, the former showed an interest on a political and military value of the sea, and the latter on an economic value of the sea. Therefore, the two novels had a literary significance in terms that faithfully reflected the spirit of the time of enlightenment and innovatively expanded the spatial background of Korean novel.

        근ㆍ현대 儒者들의 詩文에 대한 연구

        조용호(Cho Yongho) 한국언어문학회 2007 한국언어문학 Vol.60 No.-

This study, which explores recent and modern Confucianists’ literary works and the reflection of reality in it, is a sort of a trial study for a heterogeneous field of modern Sino-Korean literature. The creative works of 20th century Confucianists must be one of the parts which construct the whole Korean literature and literary thought. The problem of Chinese character used in these works is not so important for understanding the whole aspect of Korean literature. This study focuses on three writers:Jeong, Gi-Nool and Jeong, Poong-Seop senior and junior, and Seo, Sang-Tae. Due to their poverty, Mr. Jeong Sr. and Jr.’s poetry and prose could be published tens of years after their deaths. They studied Confucianism, that had rapidly been weakened through the abolition of the civil service examination and the ruin and restoration of our country’s independence, and that had to yield the summons of the times to the new learning. However, unfortunately, they couldn’t display their talent because of individual, familial, domestic problems, though they had been born with special poetic talents. As a result, their literary feelings couldn"t help value falling into desperation and sadness. Unlike them, Seo, Sang-Tae could continue his study without giving up his belief and without using knowledge as a means of living from hand to mouth. Furthermore, due to his strict personality and worldly wisdom, he could keep on improving himself without falling into worldly pleasure. He believed that it was his own duty to keep the value of Confucianism, and that filial duty is the absolute value regardless of change of the times. He thought, wrote, read about filial duty, and practiced it himself. In short, the Confucianists of recent and modern times in Korea showed two different ways of reaction to reality. One is the way to keep on deploring and wandering being unable to adapt themselves to the complicated reality. The other is the way to keep and follow the traditional value adapting to reality. These several ways of living can be used as an effective means to observe the life of the intellectuals at that time, even though they are particular examples extracted from some intelligent people of rural areas.

      • A-pillar 방해각의 최적화로 인한 운전자의 시인성 확보

조용호(Yongho Cho),한병기(Byungki Han) 한국자동차공학회 2008 한국자동차공학회 춘 추계 학술대회 논문집 Vol.- No.-

Customer may evaluate the vehicles by design, engine performance, advanced technology and acceleration etc. However, even though the vehicles have good function, these criteria will not meet each customer's propensity. For that reason, we should evaluate the vehicles by the factor what customers commonly feel, not by their propensity based on superficial source. In the meantime, the common factor is appeared by customer's direct driving experience. In other words, it is not the customer's position, but driver's their own position in terms of good evaluation. It has something to do with comfort of drivers. The first condition for drivers comfort starts with guarantee of field of view without any disturbing. Even though the vehicles with advanced technology and comfort could be useless if field of view is not ensured. In this paper, it will focus on improvement of driver's field of view by decreasing A-pillar obstruction angle through optimized design package construction.

Associations between socioeconomic status and blood cadmium levels in Korea

Yongho Jee,Sung-il Cho 한국역학회 2019 Epidemiology and Health Vol.41 No.-

OBJECTIVES: Although smoking is associated with both low socioeconomic status and blood cadmium (Cd) levels, the association between socioeconomic status and Cd levels remains unclear. Therefore, our study aimed to examine this association and to clarify whether smoking is a confounding or mediating variable in this relationship. METHODS: Data (n=7,734) were drawn from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES, 2008-2011), including years that contained data on blood Cd and urinary cotinine levels. We investigated the associations of income, education, and occupation with blood Cd levels. Smoking was investigated by categorizing participants by smoking status (never, former, and current) and pack-years into quartiles. The weekly frequency of rice and barley intake was analyzed to gain insights into participants’ dietary patterns. Additionally, urinary cotinine levels were used to ensure the validity of the smoking variables. RESULTS: Participants earning a low income and with less formal education had higher blood Cd levels. After controlling for smoking, the association between income and Cd levels substantially weakened. Further controlling for education, the association between income and Cd levels disappeared. However, there was a strong negative association between education and Cd levels, even after controlling for smoking history, pack-years, and urinary cotinine levels. CONCLUSIONS: In cross-sectional data from the KNHANES, blood Cd levels were significantly higher among those with a low income and less formal education. Smoking history contributed to, but did not fully explain, these associations.

Conventionally, plate glass is cut by contact process like a diamond point tool or a diamond wheel. The cut surfaces used with this method are pretty rough and wavy. In this thesis, non-contact cutting method used by thermal stress is being introduced. Brittle material is usually weak for tensile stress but strong for compression force. And the configuration of brittle fracture is accomplished to propagate crack in a normal direction of maximum principal stress on the surface. Laser breaking of glass used this brittle characteristics process to propagate tensile stress on the surface by rapidly cooling at the limited area which is followed by heat treatment on the this area. In the study, the shape of heat source and interval between heating and cooling source are used by variables. The shape of heat source is applied to circle type, single and double ellipse type, and also the interval is diversified from 2mm to 30mm. Laser breaking of glass has to find optimum condition for laser braking of glass, heating and cooling process were simulated by using commercial FEM code which is applicable to thermo- mechanical coupling analysis. Theoretical analysis is compared to the results based on experiments.
