This study is to supply the manpower to the rural area by establishing the circulation system between urban and rural areas. Rural area has usually experienced seasonally the labor shortage. In the city area, however, there are many peoples who look for the job. Thus, labor mismatch occurs between rural area and city area. To solve this mismatch, we suggest 『Urban-rural Circulation Model』, which can mitigate the seasonality of rural area"s manpower shortage by connecting the city"s idle workforce to the rural areas. We applied this model to Kimcheon province, mixture area of urban and rural sector, and found that the following policies should be exercised to ensure a stable workforce in rural areas. First, the database system for the manpower supply should be built by regions. Second, urban-rural circulation system should be established on a permanent basis. Third, educational opportunities for agriculture should be expanded. Fourth, the operation of public works projects should be improved. Fifth, married immigrant women should be trained as agricultural workforce.

한국에서 청년층의 지역 간 이동은 지역경제활력과 잠재성장에 결정적 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 특히 최근 ‘지방소멸’의 가장 중요한 원인 역시 지방 청년의 수도권 유출로 주목받고 있다. 따라서 지방 청년층의 수도권 유출에 대한 연구성과도 상당하게 누적되어 왔다. 그러나 이러한 연구는 주로 경제적 요인에 초점을 맞춤으로써 최근 변화하고 있는 청년층의 이동과 직업선택의 특성을 포착하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 청년층의 수도권 이동원인으로 경제적 요인만이 아니라 사회적 요인, 관계적 요인, 주체적 요인과 같은 다양한 변수를 포함하는 설문조사를 통해 지방청년의 유출과 유출청년의 지방 귀환 가능성을 분석하였다. 분석결과를 보면, 청년의 지방 유출과 귀환의 요인으로 경제적 요인도 중요하지만, 관계적 요인과 주체적 요인도 매우 중요한 요인으로 나타났다. 특히 삶의 만족도가 청년의 정착과 귀환에 결정적 요인으로 분석되었는데, 이 만족도는 경제적 요인보다 사회관계적 요인, 주체적 요인에 더 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이 분석에 따르면, 지방의 청년층 노동력을 지역에 정착시키고 유출된 청년층 노동력을 지역으로 귀환시키는 정책은 경제적 정책뿐만 아니라 지역문화의 혁신, 사회적 관계자본 형성 그리고 청년의 주체적 참여를 확장하는 정책에 초점을 맞추어야한다는 시사점을 확인할 수 있다. Inter-local movement of the youth is working as a critical factor in the local economic activity and potential growth power in Korea. In particular, recently we are paying attention to the outflow of local youth generation from local area to the metropolitan area as the most important cause of ‘collapse of the local area’. Therefore, research performance on the youth outflow toward the metropolitan area have been accumulated considerably in Korea. However, these studies fail to capture the characteristics of the recent youth culture shift and job selection criterion of young people, because of mainly focusing on economic factors. Therefore, this study analyzed the outflow of local youth and the possibility of return to the their provinces through a survey that included variables such as social factors, relational factors, and subjective factors as well as economic factors. This analysis results show that the relational and subjective factors are also very important as factors of youth"s outflow and return to rural areas even though economic factors are very important. In particular, ‘the satisfaction with life’(so called work-life balance) was analyzed as a critical factor in the settlement and return of young generation, which is more affected by social and subjective factors than by economic factors. According to this analysis, We could understand the implications that policies for settlement and return of the youth to the local area should focus not only on economic factors but also on innovation of local culture, the formation of social capital and the subjective-participation of young people.

This study examines how social capital can contribute to the development of local-based industry. Local-based industry creates added value by taking advantage of resources with regional characteristics, existing in a certain local community. Therefore, local-based industry has distinctive characteristics different from other industries. Social capital can contribute to the development of local-based industry by facilitating local community integration, by increasing the social welfare by acting as a social safety net, and by improving the productivity of the area. Local-based industry can be classified into four types: traditional type, resource-intensive type, technology-intensive type, and market-oriented type. We present the formation policy of social capital, corresponding to each type of local-based industry.

Panax ginseng has been one of the most important herbal medicines used in Eastern Asia. Recently, various molecular markers have been developed to authenticate Panax species, but these markers cannot differentiate the exact varieties or variants of Korean ginseng cultivars. In this study, six cultivars of Korean ginseng (Chunpoong, Yunpoong, Gopoong, Gumpoong, Jakyung, and Hwangsook), P. quinquefolius, and P. notoginseng were differentiated by simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker development. Specific primer sets were designed for the 54 candidate sequences containing SSRs that were predicted. Finally, eight polymorphic SSR loci were developed. DNA fragment analysis was performed using fluorescence-labelled primers for the amplicons. Reproducibility tests were carried out using multiple samples of Korean ginseng cultivars and Panax species. Eight primer sets (PgSSR07, PgSSR08, PgSSR09, PgSSR17, PgSSR37, PgSSR40, PgSSR51, and PgSSR53) showing polymorphism were used for phylogenetic relationship analysis. Consequently, six Korean ginseng cultivars (Chunpoong, Yunpoong, Gopoong, Gumpoong, Jakyung, and Hwangsook), P. quinquefolius, and P. notoginseng could be identified using the combination of SSR markers discovered.

Background : Platycodon grandiflorum is a perennial plant and a member of Campanulaceae family. Since ancient times, they have been using P. grandiflorum as an important medicinal plant in Korea. Platycodin D is the most abundant saponin derived from P. grandiflorum and pharmacologically active component. Cytochrome P450s (CYPs) are important enzymes in the saponin biosynthesis. CYP is, in general, the terminal oxidase enzymes and essential roles in saponin biosynthesis pathway by hydroxylation or oxidaition of triterpene skeletons. Methods and Results : We tried to identify CYP genes related to saponin biosynthesis of P. grandiflorum through RNA-seq analysis. The sequencing was performed using Illumina Hi-Seq platform after cDNA library preparation. The produced reads were assembled using CLC Genomics Workbench software (CLC Bio, Inc.). We obtained 122,663 contigs and found 191 putative CYP genes. Familes of CYP716, CYP708, CYP93 and CYP51 were selected as putative saponin biosynthesis related gene families using phylogenetic relationship analysis. Conclusion : The results in this study could help to find the CYPs related to saponin biosynthesis pathway of P. grandiflorum.
