This study selected 10 species commonly emerging in Busan and Daegu showing distinct green structure distributions, and distribution differences were mapped and analyzed according to city of origin. As for G-IS (Green-Inhabiting Species) of both cities, there were six species, including V. mandarinia, V. ducalis, V. crabro flavofasciata, Vl. koreensis koreensis, Pa. indica, and P. snelleni, which mostly inhabited urban source green and satellite green structures. As for GU-IS (Green & Urban-Inhabiting Species), there were two species, V. simillima simillima and V. analis parallela, which nested at diverse sites and showed greater preference for green structures. On the other hand, U-IPS (Urban-Inhabiting Preference Species) consisted of two species, V. velutina nigrithorax and P. rothneyi koreanus, which nested at almost all sites, including urban and urban green areas, and were found to adapt well to an urban environment based on their far higher rate of urban nesting as compared to GU-IS species. In comparing emergence rates among the four urban GU-IS and U-IPS species in Busan and Daegu, regular distribution was mostly observed within the city of Busan, which is well equipped with a green network, whereas Daegu, which lacks green structure connectivity, showed its greatest distribution of species nearby urban green areas. Also this study shows that in Daegu with longer distance between green, U-IPS emerged up to far site beyond green areas as compared to Busan, which has short distances between green areas.
Fatigue Analysis of an Opening and Closing Device Bearing of a Radish Planter

Radish is an important crop widely used as a main ingredient of Korean traditional food such as kimchi. The mechanization rate of major farm operations of radish is 58.6% in Korea. But the planting operation of radish is not mechanized and has been carried out manually. In addition, the mechanization rate of planting operation of radish is 0.1%, therefore, expanding the usage of mechanization in planting areas is urgent compared to other operations. The objective of this study is to analyze the fatigue analysis of bearings of a radish planter. After 3D modeling of the opening and closing device of radish seeder using CATIA, the fatigue analysis was carried out with Midas NFX simulation. The material of the bearing was selected as Alloy steel and the thickness of the bearing part was analyzed at 5 mm intervals from 20 to 40 mm. From the simulation, fatigue life of the bearing showed infinite life and fatigue damage was also interpreted as zero. The deformation was found as 0.001 mm, which was very low and the safety factor was very high. Results of this study showed the suitability of the bearing material for opening and closing devices of a radish planter.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Benzyloxyphenyl moiety is a common structure of highly potent, selective and reversible inhibitors of monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B), safinamide and sembragiline. We synthesized 4-(benzyloxy)phenyl and biphenyl-4-yl derivatives including halogen substituents on the terminal aryl unit. In addition, we modified the carbon linker between amine group and the biaryl linked unit. Among synthesized compounds, <B>12c</B> exhibited the most potent and selective MAO-B inhibitory effect (hMAO-B IC<SUB>50</SUB>: 8.9 nM; >10,000-fold selectivity over MAO-A) as a competitive inhibitor. In addition, <B>12c</B> showed greater MAO-B inhibitory activity and selectivity compared to well-known MAO-B inhibitors such as selegiline, safinamide and sembragiline. In the MPTP-induced mouse model of Parkinson’s disease (PD), <B>12c</B> significantly protected the tyrosine hydroxylase (TH)-immunopositive DAergic neurons and attenuated the PD-associated behavioral deficits. This study suggests characteristic structures as a MAO-B inhibitor that may provide a good insight for the development of therapeutic agents for PD.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Harvesting operation of Chinese cabbage still relies on manual labor force, therefore harvesters need to be developed. When developing machines, computer simulations would improve the optimum design reliability and reduce the development time and costs. Objective of this study was to conduct stress and fatigue analysis for optimum design of sprocket gear in Chinese cabbage harvester power transmission system. Using software (midas NFX), stress and fatigue analysis were performed for material and gear pressure angles. The gear materials were chosen structural chrome steel SCR420H and mechanical structural carbon steel SM45C. The gear pressure angle was 16 ° to 24 ° at 2° intervals. As a result of stress and fatigue analysis, the maximum displacement and fatigue life did not change significantly with the material and pressure angle, but the maximum stress was the lowest at 20° in both materials.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This study was performed to examine the comorbidity risks between psychological disorders, such as depression, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) using nationally representative data from a National Sample Cohort of the National Health Insurance Service in Korea.</P><P>The National Health Insurance Service—National Sample Cohort (NHIS–NSC) database from 2010 to 2012 was used in this study. GERD patients were defined as those diagnosed with specific tests, with screened medication, and without any other gastrointestinal diseases. Propensity score matching for age, sex, and economic status was applied to form a control cohort. Incidence rate, relative risks, Cox proportional-hazards modeling, and Kaplan–Meier analysis were applied to examine the differences between the GERD and control cohorts with regard to the risk of subsequent psychological disorders.</P><P>The results showed that patients in the GERD cohort (n = 9503) had significantly higher risks of psychological disorders than those without GERD (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] 1.25, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07–1.47, <I>P</I> = .006). Specifically, the risk of depressive disorder was significantly higher for patients in the GERD cohort than in the control cohort (adjusted HR 1.41, 95% CI 1.04–1.91, <I>P</I> = .027). Kaplan–Meier analysis showed that the estimated probability of psychological disorders was significantly higher in the GERD cohort compared with the control cohort (log-rank test, <I>P</I> = .007).</P><P>This study suggested that GERD may be a risk factor for subsequent psychological disorders, specifically, depressive disorder. The results of this study in GERD patients compared with non-GERD patients in Korea suggested that psychological disorders and GERD may be inter-related.</P>
