      • Purification of Lovastatin from Aspergillus terreus (KM017963) and Evaluation of its Anticancer and Antioxidant Properties

Bhargavi, SD,Praveen, VK,Marium, Salah,Sreepriya, M,Savitha, J Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.8

Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy in women worldwide and thus one of the leading causes of mortality in women. Lovastatin, a non polar, anticholesterol drug has previously been reported to exert antitumour activity in vitro. In the present study, lovastatin from Aspergillus terreus (KM017963) was purified by adsoprtion chromatography and evaluated for its anticancer and anti-oxidant properties with a human cervical cancer cell line (HeLa). Growth inhibitory and proapoptotic effects of purified lovastatin on HeLa cells were investigated by determining its influence on cell numbers, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), DNA fragmentation and antioxidant properties in terms of hydroxy radical scavenging effects as well as levels of total reduced glutathione. Cell cycle analysis by flow cytometry (propidium iodide staining) confirmed induction of apoptotic cell death and revealed cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase. Results of the study give leads for the anticancer effects of lovastatin and its potential usefulness in the chemotherapy of cervical cancer.

Bhargavi Nadella 사단법인 미래융합기술연구학회 2016 아시아태평양융합연구교류논문지 Vol.2 No.3

Geometric range scan is a key primitive for spatial information analysis in SQL and NoSQL databases. It has broad applications in area based administrations, PC aided design, and computational geometry. Due to the dramatic increase in information size, it is fundamental for organizations and associations to outsource their spatial informational indexes to outsider cloud administrations (e.g., Amazon) so as to decrease stockpiling and inquiry handling costs, at the same time, then, with the guarantee of no security spillage to the outsider. Searchable encryption is a system to perform significant inquiries on encoded information without uncovering security. In any case, geometric range seek on spatial information has not been completely researched nor upheld by existing searchable encryption plans. In this paper, we outline a symmetric-key searchable encryption plot that can bolster geometric range questions on encoded spatial information. One of our real commitments is that our plan is a general approach, which can bolster distinctive sorts of geometric range questions. At the end of the day, our plan on scrambled information is autonomous from the states of geometric range questions. In addition, we additionally develop our plan with the extra utilization of tree structures to accomplish look multifaceted nature that is speedier than straight. We formally characterize and demonstrate the security of our plan with indistinguish capacity under specific picked plaintext assaults, and show the execution of our plan with trials in a genuine cloud stage (Amazon EC2).

Non-Isolated Unidirectional Three-Port Cuk-Cuk Converter for Fuel Cell/Solar PV Systems

        Balaji Chandrasekar,N. Chellammal,Bhargavi Nallamothu 전력전자학회 2019 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.19 No.5

A DC-DC Non-Isolated Three-Port Cuk-Cuk (NI-TPCC) converter for interfacing renewable energy sources (RESs) such as Fuel Cell (FC) and Photovoltaic (PV) energy with a DC load is presented in this paper. It features single-stage power conversion from both of the input ports to the load port. The proposed NI-TPCC converter is designed based on the classical Cuk converter. The operational modes and power flow are analyzed in the continuous conduction mode (CCM), and the relationships among the port voltages are derived. Continuous currents in all three ports with less ripple enhance the performance of a fuel cell and its operating life. Furthermore, the output inductor is shared with both of the input ports, which reduces the number of active and passive components. The effectiveness of the designed NI-TPCC converter has been validated through simulation and experimental results.

A New Control Strategy for Plug-in Electric Vehicle of DC Microgrid with PV and Wind Power Integration

        N. S. Jayalakshmi,K. M. Bhargavi 대한전기학회 2019 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.14 No.1

This paper presents a plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging unit supplied by PV, wind and the battery in an autonomous mode of DC microgrid (MG) system. With the traditional control methods of PEV, the EV is charged without considering generation and the load limits. The control strategy proposed for PEV in this article is to increase the maximum rate of charging capacity of an EV only if generation exceeds the load demand using new current-loop control technique. The variation of photovoltaic irradiance, DC and AC loads, battery charging and discharging characteristics are considered which are directly coupled to a medium voltage DC bus. This tends to be an attractive option for increasing the efficiency and operation of electric vehicle charging station. The power reference based droop controller is designed for the battery to provide an efficient power management of a DC MG system by regulating the DC link voltage with less deviation. The effectiveness of the proposed MG system with Escape Ford EV vehicle has been validated by MATLAB/Simulink. The reported simulation results show that the approach presented is capable of governing the PEV charging unit and regulation of DC bus voltage.

Altmetrics: Factor Analysis for Assessing the Popularity of Research Articles on Twitter

Pandian, Nandhini Devi Soundara,Na, Jin-Cheon,Veeramachaneni, Bhargavi,Boothaladinni, Rashmi Vishwanath Korea Institute of Science and Technology Informat 2019 Journal of Information Science Theory and Practice Vol.7 No.4

Altmetrics measure the frequency of references about an article on social media platforms, like Twitter. This paper studies a variety of factors that affect the popularity of articles (i.e., the number of article mentions) in the field of psychology on Twitter. Firstly, in this study, we classify Twitter users mentioning research articles as academic versus non-academic users and experts versus non-experts, using a machine learning approach. Then we build a negative binomial regression model with the number of Twitter mentions of an article as a dependant variable, and nine Twitter related factors (the number of followers, number of friends, number of status, number of lists, number of favourites, number of retweets, number of likes, ratio of academic users, and ratio of expert users) and seven article related factors (the number of authors, title length, abstract length, abstract readability, number of institutions, citation count, and availability of research funding) as independent variables. From our findings, if a research article is mentioned by Twitter users with a greater number of friends, status, favourites, and lists, by tweets with a large number of retweets and likes, and largely by Twitter users with academic and expertise knowledge on the field of psychology, the article gains more Twitter mentions. In addition, articles with a greater number of authors, title length, abstract length, and citation count, and articles with research funding get more attention from Twitter users.
