Crystal Structure and Magnetic Properties of Co-Mo Alloys Produced by Mechanical Alloying

We report the analysis of the crystal structure and the magnetic properties of Co100-XMoX alloys (0 < x < 100, Δx =10), obtained by mechanical alloying using a shaker mixer mill, at room temperature for 7 h. Crystal structure, morphology and magnetic properties of the Co-Mo system were characterized through XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and VSM (vibrating sample magnetometry). The results showed different completely soluble solid solution, in almost all compositions. Williamson-Hall method revealed an increase in the crystallite size, decreased with the molybdenum content, from 27.34 nm to 8.02 nm for 0 to 100 wt.% of Mo, respectively. Saturation magnetization and the magnetocrystalline anisotropy, showed the same behavior, a diminution with the increase of the molybdenum content. However, the coercivity increased with the increment in Mo content, reaching a maximum of 63.79 kA/m for Co20Mo80.

Let S be a polynomial ring over a field K, with a monomial order ${\prec}$, and let I be an unmixed graded ideal of S. In this paper we study two functions associated to I: The minimum distance function ${\delta}_I$ and the footprint function $fp_I$. It is shown that ${\delta}_I$ is positive and that $fp_I$ is positive if the initial ideal of I is unmixed. Then we show that if I is radical and its associated primes are generated by linear forms, then ${\delta}_I$ is strictly decreasing until it reaches the asymptotic value 1. If I is the edge ideal of a Cohen-Macaulay bipartite graph, we show that ${\delta}_I(d)=1$ for d greater than or equal to the regularity of S/I. For a graded ideal of dimension ${\geq}1$, whose initial ideal is a complete intersection, we give an exact sharp lower bound for the corresponding minimum distance function.

This paper proposes an Energy Management System (EMS) power dispatch algorithm for a set of various distributed energy resources (DERs) such as distributed generators (DGs) and energy storage systems (ESSs) connected to a 1-MW power grid system. The ESS is composed of a stationary Vanadium Redox Battery (VRB) and Li-ion Electric Vehicle (EV) charging parking lot at a workplace incorporating Vehicle to Grid (V2G) and Grid to Vehicle (G2V) charging capabilities considering no linear modeling of both battery technologies. The simulation study is carried out considering load profile curves of residential and commercial load connected to the system at peak of summer load. Effectiveness and simulation results of the proposed EMS dispatch model were confirmed on various scenarios under the presence of different levels of power mismatch, high intermittence of PV power output and EV penetration.

Acrylamide can be generated from food componentsduring tortilla chips frying. Thus, the aim of thisresearch was to study different nixtamalization processesas traditional (TNP) with lime [Ca(OH)2], ecological(ENP) with CaCO3, classic nixtamalization (CNP) thatuses wood ash and extrusion (EXT) with no Ca?2 sourceon mitigating the acrylamide formation in deep-fat fryingtortilla chips. Acrylamide quantification was done throughHPLC–UV. Lower acrylamide content in tortilla chips wasfor CNP with 46.3 lg/kg, followed by TNP with 55.0 lg/kg, ENP with 694.6 lg/kg and EXP with 1443.4 lg/kg. Differences in acrylamide values among samples can berelated to effect of cations (Ca2?, Mg2?, Fe2?, Zn2?, Na?and K?) present in wood ashes, lime and salts used as rawmaterials. Correlation of (r = 0.85; p\0.0005) wasobserved in color of tortilla chips, moisture, texture, blisters,and oil with acrylamide. Nixtamalization process is aneffective and inexpensive strategy for acrylamidemitigation.

Severe Weakness of Hip Flexor after Iliopsoas Tenotomy: Two Case Reports

Hip arthroscopies are becoming a standard surgical technique, with psoas tenotomy being a relatively common procedure during this operation. A 37-year-old male and a 42-year-old female with internal hip snapping came to our department. Arthroscopic partial psoas tenotomy of the iliopsoas portion of the conjoint tendon was performed, but its results were bad. Patients reported preoperative unilateral low-back pain and weakness when flexing the hip. Unilateral atrophy of the lumbar psoas and fatty multifidus were detected in both cases. Patients at risk of unsatisfactory outcomes after psoas tenotomy should be ideally identified prior to surgery. Warning symptoms, physical examination, and imaging studies should be considered to avoid unsatisfactory results.

This theoretical work presents magnetic, electronic and optical properties of SrFe12-xAlxO19 (x = 0.5; 1; 1.5) solid solutions using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. A decrease in the magnetic properties of SrFe12O19 is predicted when doped with the Al ions. It was found that the Al ions preferentially replace Fe ions at 2a and 12k sites. On the other hand, SrFe11.5Al0.5O19 and SrFe11Al1O19 solid solutions behave like a semiconductor, while SrFe10.5Al1.5O19 solid solution showed a metallic response. From the optical analysis, incorporating the Al ions can benefit the polarizability of the medium. For the SrFe11.5Al0.5O19 (Al[2a]) and SrFe11Al1O19 (Al[2a-2a]) solid solutions, the incorporation of Aluminum ions results in the reduction of the gap, making it a more useful material for catalytic applications.

A fuzzy feature representation for white blood cell differential counting is proposed to diagnose types of acute leukemia. The accuracy of diagnosis is higher than that by numerical features by dealing with uncertainty of white blood cell features and inflexibility of diagnosing. Experiments on acute leukemia diagnosis use 120 acute leukemia images and fuzzy decision tree method with the accuracy rate of diagnosis is 84% using fuzzy features and 76.6% using numerical features. Given the importance of accurate diagnosis of acute leukemia in patients, this proposal is essential and planned to be introduced in an Indonesian hospital.

Geometric inverse kinematics procedures that divide the whole problem into several subproblems withknown solutions, and make use of screw motion operators have been developed in the past for 6R robot manipulators. These geometric procedures are widely used because the solutions of the subproblems are geometricallymeaningful and numerically stable. Nonetheless, the existing subproblems limit the types of 6R robot structuralconfigurations for which the inverse kinematics can be solved. This work presents the solution of a novel geometricsubproblem that solves the joint angles of a general anthropomorphic arm. Using this new subproblem, an inversekinematics procedure is derived which is applicable to a wider range of 6R robot manipulators. The inverse kinematics of a closed curve were carried out, in both simulations and experiments, to validate computational cost andrealizability of the proposed approach. Multiple 6R robot manipulators with different structural configurations wereused to validate the generality of the method. The results are compared with those of other methods in the screwtheory framework. The obtained results show that our approach is the most general and the most efficient.
