Reliability Evaluation of Distribution Networks using ICT and Renewable Distributed Generation
Abdukhakimov Asatilla,Jae-Min Lee,Dong-Seong Kim 한국통신학회 2019 한국통신학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2019 No.1
This paper analyzes the reliability of distribution networks in the smart grid with the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) and renewable distributed generation (DG) units. A hybrid unit consisting of wind, solar, and biomass systems along with energy storage is presented owing to their economic, technical and environmental benefits. Since ICT failures affect the reliability of distribution networks, ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) for the communication infrastructure is used because of its ability to support stringent latency and reliability requirements of mission-critical applications. According to the results, more reliable and sustainable energy can be supplied to consumers with the integration of ICT and renewable DGs into the electrical power grid.
Power Profile Stabilization for Smart Grid Transmission Systems using STATCOM
Toha Hasnat,Asatilla Abdukhakimov,Dong-Seong Kim 대한전자공학회 2018 대한전자공학회 학술대회 Vol.2018 No.11
This paper studies the shunt operation of the flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) controller. FACTS devices are mainly used for solving various power system steady state control problems such as voltage regulation, power flow control, and transfer capability enhancement. Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is a shunt FACTS device, which can be deployed to regulate the flow of reactive power in the system independently. The study of STATCOM including phase angle control is carried out. In the smart grid transmission systems, STATCOM primarily handles fundamental reactive power exchange and provide voltage support. According to the results, operating maintenance and investment costs with STATCOM are lower than other systems while providing stable power supply to consumers.
