This paper aims to study regional difference in strawberry farming technology and its causal factors based on the survey of controlled strawberry farmers in three major strawberry cultivating regions, which are Nonsan county of Chungnam Province, Damyang County of Junnam Province and Guchang County of Kyungnam Province. There are differences in variety adoption, packaging and grading method which cause the farming income gap among these regions. Farmers of Guchang County, who adopt new variety Yeobong and packing system, raised highest gross receipts but ranked next to Damyang in terms of net income because of high packing cost. Farmers of Nonsan County earned lowest income because of poor quality and low price in spite of adopting packing cost saving method. Therefore, results of this study shows that successful farming technology depend on whether or not farmers adopt market oriented technology. It is suggested that direction of strawberry farming technology should focus on adopting new varieties which can contiribute to increasing farmers' paid price and developing technology of reducing cost such as labor saving and packing machine.

Higenammine이 심근의 활동전압 및 수축에 미치는 영향

In order to investigate the action mechanism of higenamine on cardiac muscle cells, the isometric contraction and transmembrane action potential in rabbit papillary muscle preparations taken out from tight ventricles were observed. The isometric contraction and action potential were recorded in the control Tyrode solution and higenamine-Tyrode solution in which the preparations were kept beating (1 Hz.) for about 30 minutes to get stable data. The resting membrane potential, amplitude of action potential amplitude of overshoot potential, time of repolarization to 60%, 90% of the amplitude of action potential and the first derivatives of potential recorded transmembrane action potential in control Tyrode solution and higenamine (2.5×10^-7gm/ml) Tyrode solution in which showed about 130%-150% of positive inotropic effect compared with those controls. The following results were obtained. 1. Higenamine showed no effects on the time-to-peak tension. 2. Higenamine showed almost no effects on resting membrane potential, amplitude of action potential and overshoot potential. 3. Higenamine significantly shortened to repolarize 60% or 90% of the action potential from 218ms and 264ms in the controls to 200ms and 246ms respectively. (p<0.005) Therefore. the maximum values of the first derivatives of potential variations (- Vmax) in the plateau phase an d repolarization phase were also significantly increased from 16.3V/sec in the control groups to 17.3V/sec in the higenamine-treated groups. The above results which showed positive inotropic effect and simultaneously shortening of action potential duration by higenamine suggest possible involvement of the increase of slow inward current.

This study is to provide a comprehensive overview of the changing vegetable sector of Chinese agriculture and to analyse the competitiveness of Chinese vegetable production. China now produces more than 60% of the world's vegetable supply and that 150 million people are engaged in vegetable production, processing and marketing since the reform of vegetable industry structure started in the late 1980s. As a labour abundant industry, China also features more comparative advantages in the vegetable trade. Although China's vegetable exports still accounts for only 1% of total production, the 5 million tons of export in 2003 makes China one of the largest vegetable players in the international markets. When estimating competitiveness of China's vegetable industry, China's producers' prices for vegetables are founded to be only from 10%~40% of what they are in Korea, while most of China's vegetables have also strong competitiveness in quality. As China joined the WTO in 2001 and expects to increase market share in vegetable trade, the development strategy for Korea's vegetable industry are suggested as follows: 1) focusing on the technology for the growth of vegetable productivity, 2) developing the higher value added vegetable industry through processing, 3) expanding the exported area and leading vegetable varieties.

안면도 국제 꽃박람회와 지역 화훼산업의 발전방안

There have been various flower exhibitions in many countries such as Netherlands, Japan and China so as to encourage the growth of flower industry since they recognize the value of flower as cultural goods. Chungnam Province government, also endeavoring to make the regional flower industry into high valued agriculture and exporting industry, plans to open the international flower exhibition in Anmyon-Do from April 26th, 2002. This flower show, first held by local government and featuring mega-event tourism, is expected to contribute to initiating flower industry and related business in Chungnam region. However, the flower exhibition may not be said to succeed if it does not play enough to trigger the role in expanding its effect on post growth of regional flower industry. This paper aimed at suggesting strategies of maintaining festival boom of post Anmyon-Do flower fair and contributing to take off of flower agriculture and its related industry as follows; 1) inviting various flower business activities into exhibition places 2) establishing flower village town attracted by tourists 3) devising the flower R&D center 4) organizing helping center for infant flower business group.

農業法人體의 合理的인 運營을 위한 經營戰略

Changing environments in agricultural business make it necessary to promote the cooperative farming system so as to scale up farming size, which may contribute to increasing competitive power. Therefore, rural and fishery development program was established in 1990 to encourage individual farmers to jointly form the agricultural company or farming cooperatives. However, while the number of agricultural corporations has rapidly increased through the governmental support, their business achievements become worsening mainly resulting from unplanned and careless management practices. This paper suggested following strategies for management process reengineering to improve the efficiency of agricultural corporations; challenging business initiatives to enlarge volume of sales amounts, maintaining the optimal level of participants and physical assets for cost savings, and proper use of information technology and consulting agencies.

한국농업경제학의 좌표와 진로

The job market for agricultural economics students has been reported tighter in recent years. As a result, we are now experiencing declining number of majors and students in agricultural economics. In this paper, an overview was given concerning how these changes have impacted agricultural economics at level of academic programs and job market, and especially how agricultural economists should adjust themselves to changing structure of farm and food industry in the future. Some recommendations were suggested as follows; 1) academic program for adopting the want of food business 2) strong financial support for varying research areas 3) help system for students' efforts in gaining employment.

전자상거래를 이용한 농산물 마케팅의 활성화 전략

In the near future information technology will make more extensive applications to agricultural marketing system through e-commerce system. This paper is to investigate the current trends of e-commerce in agricultural marketing and suggest strategies for increasing agricultural product sales at the farm level as follows ; 1) price and quality control for attracting customers 2) increasing brand power for marketing promotion, and 3) devising more convenient website for internet users.

情報技術을 활용한 商業農의 經營革新方案

It will become necessary for farmers to adopt information technology into commercialized farming system, since its productivity is increasingly linked to how to exploit the agricultural information. The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of information technology and to suggest ways to utilize the information technology for innovative farm management. Internet should become more important instruments which farmers might utilize in order to collect and mine the agricultural information because of its rapidity, reliability and precision. Also farmers should be encouraged to adopt a GIS-based farm management decision support system and to integrate the market information and geographic information such as soil, water, temperature, etc. for optimal decision making. Another way of improving farm management is to make farmers use agricultural accounting software for individual farmers and develop farming simulation system which analyze a farmer's current financial condition and suggest how to improve it. Making home page would be major marketing strategy for farmers to promote the sales of agricultural products.
