바르셀로나 공공도서관의 매개영역 디자인 경향에 관한 연구 : - 1998년 이후 건립된 사례를 중심으로 -

(연구배경 및 목적) 본 연구에서는 지역 중심의 사회적, 문화적 공공공간으로 활용되며, 좋은 평가를 받고 있는 스페인 바르셀로나 현대 공공도서관 사례를 분석하고자 한다. 특히 공공도서관의 매개영역을 도시적 측면, 건축적 측면, 공간적 측면 3가지로 구분하여 디자인 사례분석의 결과를 구체적으로 제시하고, 디자인 경향을 고찰하는데 목적을 둔다. (연구범위 및 방법) 연구의 범위는 시기적 범위와 공간적 범위로 구분하여 진행한다. 시기적 범위는 1998년 이후 바르셀로나 도서관 정책에 의해 새롭게 건립된 시기로 한정하였다. 공간적 범위는 사례로 선정된 9개 바르셀로나 공공도서관의 매개영역을 도시적 측면(입지성, 접근성), 건축적 측면(조형성, 연계성), 공간적 측면(쾌적성, 개방성)으로 구분하여 고찰한다. 연구의 방법은 매개영역의 정의 및 공간적 범위와 바르셀로나 공공도서관의 정책 및 현황, 특성에 관한 고찰하였다. 그리고 선행연구를 바탕으로 분석요소 도출 및 사례분석의 틀을 정리하였고, 이를 바탕으로 사례분석을 진행한다. 사례분석을 위한 자료는 현장답사, Diputacio Barcelona와 Biblioteques de Barcelona에서 제공하는 자료와 출판물 그리고 인터넷 건축 전문매체(Archdaily, Dezeen)와 건축가 작품집을 활용하였다. (결과) 바르셀로나 공공도서관의 매개영역에 관한 분석결과는 3가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 우수한 입지성과 접근성을 통한 지역 내 공공공간이자 사회적, 문화적 거점공간의 역할을 수행한다. 둘째, 내부중정, 차양디자인, 개구부의 높낮이 및 크기 등을 활용해 내·외부공간의 연계성을 극대화한다. 셋째, 개방성, 쾌적성을 고려한 층고계획 및 건축물의 형태를 활용한 고측창 디자인계획이다. 전체적으로 도시적 측면에서 인접한 타 공공, 문화시설과의 관계를 고려한 입지성과 건축적 측면에서 외부공간, 개구부의 구성 및 디자인을 고려한 연계성 항목에서 우수한 결과가 도출되었다. (결론) 본 연구는 매개영역에 관한 이론적 고찰과 바르셀로나 공공도서관 사례분석을 통해 디자인 경향을 분석하였고, 결과를 요약하면 첫째, 바르셀로나는 세르다근대 도시계획안의 도시 블럭 내에서 건축계획이 함께 계획된다. 둘째, 도시 중심부에 위치하며 인근 공공 및 지역 사회, 문화시설과의 연계성이 우수하다. 셋째, 건축물 형태를 활용한 개구부 위치 및 크기, 차양디자인 계획을 통해 내·외부공간의 연계성을 높이고 물리적, 심리적 장애요인을 최소화하였다. 넷째, 쾌적성과 개방성을 고려한 공간적 측면을 위해 내, 외부 마감재료를 투과성이 유리한 유리를 주 재료로 활용하였다. 또한 건축물의 형태를 활용한 고측창 디자인과 주로 흰색을 활용한 색채계획은 공간감을 높이는 중요한 디자인 경향으로 보여진다. (Background and Purpose) This study analyzes a case study of public libraries in Barcelona, Spain, which function as regional social and cultural public spaces and are well-used. In particular, the purpose of the project is to present the results of the case analysis in detail and examine design trends by dividing the intermediate areas of public libraries into three categories: urban, architectural, and spatial. (Method) The scope of the study is divided into a construction period and spatial ranges. The scope was limited to new construction under the Barcelona Library Policy since 1998. The spatial extent is considered by dividing the intermediate areas of the nine Barcelona public libraries selected as examples into urban aspects (location, accessibility), architectural aspects (symbolism, connectivity), and spatial aspects (amenity, openness). The methods of the study were discussed in terms of the definition and spatial extent of the intermediate area, as well as the policies, status, and characteristics of the public libraries in Barcelona. Based on advanced study, the framework of the analysis element extraction and case analysis is organized, and a case analysis is carried out based on this analysis. The data for the case analysis were available through field exploration and materials and publications provided by the city of Barcelona, as well as the city’s website and a collection belonging to the architect. (Results) The analysis results of the intermediate areas of public libraries in Barcelona can be summarized in three points. First, they assume the role of public spaces and social and cultural hub spaces in the region by offering a superior location and accessibility. Second, they maximize connectivity between internal and external spaces by utilizing an internal middle, shade design, and the height and size of openings. Third, their floor height takes into consideration openness and amenity and a clearstory plan using the forms of the buildings. (Conclusions) This study analyzed design trends through the theoretical considerations of mediated domains and a case analysis of the Barcelona Public Library system. Firstly, building plans are planned together within the city blocks of the modern urban planning of Cedar. Second, they are located in the center of the city and have excellent connectivity with nearby public and local communities and cultural facilities. Third, through the planning of the location and the size and shade of openings using the architectural form, the connections between the interior and exterior spaces were enhanced and the physical and psychological elements were minimized. Fourth, glass was used as the main material for spatial aspects considering comfort and openness.
