The Sound and the Fury 의 喪失과 죽음의 悲劇性

This study has attempted to analyze and interprete the tragic elements of loss and death of the Sound and the fury, for this novel is embedded from the beginning to the end by the problems of loss and death. It is thought that the novel described the deteriorating process of each members of the Compson family rather than that of the family itself. This may suggest to us that modern men living in 20th century are warned against the danger of being ruined. That is, the novel seems to put an emphasis on the recovery of humanity. Analyzing each characters of the novel, I found that their tragedy is based on the problems of loss and death and these are composed of the inner and outer elements. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Caddy, who is the central character in the novel, loses her virginity and falls the family honor; this makes all the family members nervous and sick and makes herself isolated from them and depart the house. 2. Mr. Compson, the father, is in cynicism and alcoholism, pursuing meaninglss ideals. And so he is in total disenchantment with life and himself and with the society he lives in. 3. Mrs. Compson, the mother, is absorbed in self-pity and loses her maternal love for the children and makes them sterile in spirit and herself sick. She is isolated from all the family members and the world she lives in. 4. Benjy suffers from many things in the inner and outer world: death of the mare Nancy and the grandmother Damuddy, loss of his original name, loss of his sister Caddy's love, loss of the pasture that he loves, loss of his sexuality by catastration, death of father and Roskus, Quentin's suicide and loss of emotional security etc. All these make him chaotic and incompetent. 5. Quentin loses sexual innocence, Compson honor by suicide, emotional security, his lovely sister Caddy, spiritual order, the childhood world, and his meaningless ideals. All these make him defeated by the world he lives in and isolated from all the members of the family. He is an indecive person. 6. Jason is so selfish that he ignores everything except money. He also loses many things: conscience, God, human feeling, a job, the childhood past, morality, love and compassion. All these make him alienated from the members of his family and from the people he works with. He is worst among the characters. 7. Dilsey loses the Compson family whom she faithfully served all through her life. She saw from the first to the last, This makes her feel tragic. As the above mentioned, the problems of loss and death are so prodominant in all the characters that these are the basic themes of the novel The Sound and the Fury: Saying in conclusion, I think the writer, Faulkner seems to suggest to us that such modern men living in the 20th century as the characters in this novel should recover humanity and morality and try to reconstruct the society in spiritual abundance and full of order in harmony with the material richness, with the hope of capability.

제주특별도지사 주민소환사례를 통한 주민소환제 문제점 고찰 및 개선방안

A public recall vote for governor of Jeju special self-governing province who promoted the Jeju Naval Base construction plan was held on August 26, 2009. He retained his post, however, as the recall vote failed to get the required one-third support from eligible voters. The system has its weaknesses because it does not clarify reasons for a recall vote, paving the way for citizens to dismiss provincial chiefs for their legitimate exercise of their authority. Some have also argued that current regulations mandate the participation of more than one-third of voters who must in turn reach a majority, making the recall virtually impossible. Under the current system, there is no way to stop the head of a regional government, even with the presence of acts considered that may be considered censurable, so long as the leader is not under criminal punishment. The paper discusses the problems with public recall vote system in the case of recall vote for governor of Jeju and suggests systemic supplementary public recall policies.

정보공유에 관한 연구

이 논문은 디지털시대 우리나라 정보공유의 현황과 문제점을 지적하고, 특히 저작권 문제와 그 대안으로서의 CCL(Creative Commons License) 확산을 위한 정책방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 정보공유 현황의 경우 공공정보와 민간정보로 구분하고, 전자는 국가지식정보자원과 국가지식포털을 중심으로, 후자는 민간포털, 지식서비스, 블로그, 카페 등을 중심으로 분석하였다. 파워블로거 집단면접을 통해 디지털시대 실제 정보공유 주체들의 관점에서 파악하였다. 공공정보공유와 민간정보공유 모두 저작권이 정보공유 확산의 가장 큰 걸림돌로 작용하는 것으로 판단하고, 이에 대한 대안적 논의로서 FSF(Free Software Foundation), 정보공유연대, CC(Creative Commons)의 라이선스 방식을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과 CC 대안이 정보공유 확산의 관점에서 가장 적절하다고 판단하고 이의 도입과 확산을 위한 정책방안을 제시하였다.

자본시장을 통한 지방채 신용평가기관제도 도입에 대한 고찰

이 논문은 정부개혁의 한 축인 재정분권의 여러 정책 중 지방재원의 조달 방법의 하나인 지방채와 관련하여 자본시장기능에 의한 신용평가기관제도 도입의 필요성과 의미에 대해 고찰해 보는 것이다. 기존의 중앙정부의 승인제도인 개별적 기채승인제에서 완전한 지방채발행자율권이 앞으로 주어진다면 지방채발행의 남발도 예견될 수 있다. 이를 통제하는 방법으로 신용평가기관의 지방채 신용평가제도 도입은 절실하다고 할 수 있다. 또한 지방자치단체를 자본시장기능을 통해 성과평가측정의 가능성도 있고, 민간신용평가기관이 정부의 지방자치단체에 대해 포괄적인 재정ㆍ행정적 관리ㆍ감독기능을 대체하고, 자원의 효율적인 배분과 정보의 불균형을 해소시킬 수 있다. 진정한 지방자치시대를 열기 위해서는 정부 규제적인 지방채발행제도의 개선과 신용평가제도와 관련된 법령정비가 필요하고, 회사채의 신용평가에 비해 비재무적인 요인들이 큰 비중을 차지하고 있으므로, 우리 정치ㆍ행정문화의 실정에 맞는 비재무적인 요인에 대한 연구도 필요한 시점이다.

원격 공동 실험에 관한 연구

The third wave has effected a huge change not only in society but also in the construction industry. In the construction industry, various digital and construction technologies have merged and developed according to the third wave. Such examples include integrated construction system, electronic document system, blueprint management system, and simulation system. As construction structures are developed, they acquire more functions and become bigger and more complicated. Hence, developing these construction core technology is crucial for international competitiveness of the national construction industry. However, it is difficult to build and use a related big experimental facility because it is impossible for one organization to build such facility due to its huge cost. This paper describes the design of effective KOCEDgrid system and shows the implementation of a prototype called the Mini-MOST experiment.

DWT 기반 영상압축 시스템 구현

본 논문에서는 2차원 DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform)를 이용하여 디지털 영상을 압축 및 복원할 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다. 제시한 DWT 기반 영상압축 시스템은 크게 영상을 압축하는 FPGA 보드와 영상을 복원하는 응용 소프트웨어로 구성된다. 먼저 영상을 압축하는 FPGA는 A/D 변환기로부터 영상을 받아들여서 웨이블릿 변환을 이용하여 영상을 압축하고 PCI 인터페이스를 이용하여 PC로 저장하며, PC에 저장된 압축된 영상정보는 응용 소프트웨어를 이용하여 복원된다. 영상압축 시스템은 A/D 변환기에 동기하여 NTSC YCbCr(4:2:2)의 640×240 영상을 초당 약 60 필드 압축한다. 구현된 하드웨어는 APEX20KC EP20K1000CB652-7의 FPGA에서 11,120개의 LAB(Logic Array Block)와 27,456개의 ESB(Embedded System Block)를 사용하여 하나의 FPGA내에 사상되었다. 전체적으로 33MHz의 클럭을 사용하고 메모리 제어부는 100MHz의 클럭을 사용하여 동작한다. In this paper, a system which can compress and reconstruct the digital image was implemented using 2 dimensional DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform). The proposed system consists of the FPGA board tocompress the image and the application software(S/W) to reconstruct it. First the FPGA receives the image from A/D converter and compresses the image using wavelet transform. The compressed data is transferred into the PC using the PCI interface. The compressed image is reconstructed by an application S/W inside the PC. The image compressor can compress about 60 fields per second, in which the image format was NTSC YCbCr(4:2:2) and the image size was 640×240 pixels per field. The designed hardware mapped into one FPGA occupying 11,120 LAB (Logic Array Block) and 27,456 ESB(Embedded System Block) in APEX20KC EP20K1000CB652-7. It globally uses 33MHz clock and the memory control part uses 100MHz.
