Demand Response(DR) resource is considered a high potential resource to meet the increasing demand for electricity in line with key keywords such as nuclear power plants, fine dust, and sustainable energy, which are important issues in the energy sector in recent years. Currently, DR market has been steadily increasing resource capacity and payments for demand resources until recently until three years after its establishment, but the utilization of demand resources for annual peak reduction is less effective. Furthermore, there is no optimal operation algorithm for determining the object of demand resource and DR capacity when peak reduction DR events occur. In this paper, we developed an algorithm that can calculate the annual peak reduction effect considering the operational characteristics of demand resources so that the demand resources can be utilized at a meaningful level. In addition, GAMS is used as a program to simulate optimal operation algorithm of peak reduction DR, and related departments that operate the demand market can use it as a reference for market operation.
