As the technology for synthesis of polymers has progressed, many new membranes for oxygen enrichment have been developed. The design of specific membranes are based on the 28 to 30% oxygen concentration for combusion and 40% oxygen concentration for medical use. If the conentration of oxygen in the air is increased to 30%, the efficiency of fuel combusion is also increased. On the other hand, air of 40% oxygen concentration has been used for patients with diseases in their respiratory organ. Oxygen enrichment membranes have an oxygen permeability coefficient of more than 9 barriecs and separation factors of more than 2.
폴리에테르이미드 중공사막을 통한 기체투과거동에 관한 연구

The polyetherimide(PEI) hollow fiber membranes were prepared by the dry-wet phase inversion method. The dimension of PEI hollow fiber membranes with the outer diameter 0.45mm and the inner diameter 0.I5mm were prepared. The developement of high performance hollow fiber- membranes for gas separation has demonstrated that the suitable nonsolvent additives play a very good role in preparing membranes. The effects of 4 kinds of additives on structure of the gas separation PEI membranes have been investigated and also gas separation properties were examined. The used nonsolvent-additives included kind of alcohols, acids and organic compounds with low boiling point. The results showed that different kind of additives have a different influence on polymer solution properties, gas separation characteristics and structure of the prepared hollow fiber membranes. The membrane structure could be controlled by nonsolvent-additive The nitrogen and oxygen permeation rates of PEI membrane: showed more than 10 GPU(gas permeation unit), The gas selectivity indicated more than 2.
Fluorocarbon 단량체를 이용한 플라즈마 중합박막의 제조에 관한 연구

The plasma-polymerized membranes were prepared on the porous substrate from hexafluorobenxene(HFB) and pentafluorostyrene(PFS) monomers. The feature of plasma-polymerized film depends not only on the chemical structure of the monomer but also on the discarge power(W), mass flow rate(Fm) and reaction time(RT). An active layer of plasma-polymerized HFB and PFS were fabricated on the polycarbonated membrane under the condition of 10-100 watt(W), 2-10㎎/min(Fm) an 15-25 min(RF). The structures of monomers containing unsaturated bond or aromatic group changed inor a highly cross-linked structure contaning saturated bond with an increase in variables mentioned above. As the w/Fm and RT increased, the thickness of plasma-polymerized film increased linearly.

The hollow fiber membranes of polyetherimde were prepared by the phase inversion method. The hollow fibers with an outer diameter of about 0.5㎜ and an inner diameter of about 0.2㎜ were prepared at air-gaps of 10㎝. The fundamental studies ort membrane formation by spinning hollow fibers from ternary systems have been investigated. The length and distribution of finger-like structure in the support layer decreased with increasing the polymer concentration of dope solution The finger-like structures were obtained when diffusion velocity between solvent and non-solvent is fast, while sponge-like structures were obtained when that is slow. The inner surface pore structure was depend on the inner coagulant of ethanol.

The continous hybrid process for the treatment of oily wastewater consists of a suspendid growth biological reactor combiened with a ultrafilteration membrane process. The ultrafilteration process filietrs the biotreated water prior to discarge and recycle the biogical soilds to bioreactor. The ultrafiltration unit using hydrophillic membrane retans oil component while it is biologically degradeed in the aerobic reactor. The hybrid system was design to allow 2 day HRT. The temperature in bioreactor ranged from 303K and pH 6.2 to 8.2. The oprration pressure of polysulfon membrane was 0.5 - 1 atm. Comparing the feed and permeate concentration, this study was achived up to 95 percent COD reduction. An effulent crude oil concentration was equal to or less then 1.7 mg/1. and the permeated concentration of tetradecan was equal to or less than 0.4 mg/l.

This study was conducted to establish the educational directions and the teaching methods of the environmental protection and conservation through examining the recognition and attitude of high school students for several environmental problems. Students have had a relatively high concerns to the environmental problems, showing that the students who are in environmental activities had more concern than the students are not in activities. The informations of the environmental knowledges and problems were mainly taken from both the broadcasting of TV and the education of school. The 46.4% of students answered that the mass communications have properly dealt with the environmental situations and problems. They have replied that the most effective method to get the environmental informations was through the educational programs of school and the next one through the mass communications. The 84.4% of students answered that the educational programs of the environmental changes and preservation have been required in the school curriculum. They have also recognized highly that the environmental education should be started from the kindergarten and the elementary school. The 63.1% of students answered that economic development should be accompanied with the environmental preservation, It indicated that many of students have been recognized the importances of environmental preservation through their daily living. They have wished that the governmental programs and activities for the environmental preservation would be dealt more positively than did the government presently, replying that they have known and recognized the environmental policies and activities of government very well.
