A rapid and selective co-extraction systems of copper and zinc-thiocyanate complex into various types of alkylamine for the simultaneous determination of two metal ions by atomic absorption spectrometry and ion chromatograph have been proposed. The quantitative extractions of Cu(II) and Zn(II) at 0.1 M-thiocyanate and 0.1 M-HCI were achieved with Aliquat 336-$CHCl_3$. The detection limits of Cu and Zn were 2 ppb and 0.9 ppb respectively.

Micro smount of copper(11)from 0.01M sodium thiosulfate solution can be quantitatively extracted with 1% Aliquat336-MIBK. The mechanism of the extraction of copper(11)as thiosulfate complex into Aliquat 336 was elucidated. The effect of organic diluents and diverse ions on the determination of copper by atomic absortion spectrometry were examined.

A rapid and selective extraction system for subsequent determination of micro-grams of Zn by atomic absorption spectrometry has been proposed. The quantitative extraction of Zn in thiocyanate and sulfuric acid media was achieved with Alamine 336-MIBK. The possible composition of the Zn-thiocyanate complex extracted into the organic phase was presumed as ?? from the extraction data. The detection limit of Zn was 0.9ppb. Analysis of Zn in agricultural water was performed by the proposed method.

Trace amount of cadmium was quantitatively extracted with 1% Aliquat 336-MIBK from 0.2M potassium thiocyanate and 0.01M-HCl solution. Of various liquid anion exchangers were tested, Aliquat 336 was found to be most efficient. The detection limit for the determination of Cd was 0.7ppb and proposed method was applied to the determination of Cd in serum and standard copper concentrates.

The extraction of Manganese form industrial wastewater and wastes are very important. A method is described for the separation and determination of Manganese(Ⅱ) with 0.4M-potassium thiocyanate and 3% Aliquat 336-CC14 by liquid-liquid extraction and flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Managanese(Ⅱ) have been stripped into HCI solution in the presence of foreign ions. Calibration curve showed that Beer's law obey in the range of 7 ppm. Determination of Manganese(Ⅱ) in seawater was performed by the proposed method.

The quantitative extraction of Co in thiocyanate and nitric acid media was achieved with Aliquat 336-MIBK. The detection limit of Co was 1.1 ppb and analysis of Co in NBS sample was performed by the proposed method.
역추출과 PAR법에 의한 수질중 미량 수은의 비색정량에 관한 연구

A selective and highly sensitive spectrophotometric measurements have been developed for the determination of trace mercury(II) with thiosulfate and PAR. Hg(II)-thiosulfate complex was extracted into high molecular alkylamine such as quaternary ammonium salt and back extracted into 1 M-HCl solution. The Hg(II)-PAR complex has maximum absorbance at 499 nm and obeys Beer s law in the range of 0.04~1.0 $\mu g/mL$ of mercury(II). The molar absorptivity and Sandell s sensitivity are $6.27\times 10^4 L.mole^{-1} cm^{-1}$ and $3.2\times 10^{-3}g/cm^2$ respectively.

A simple and inexpensive colorimetric spectrometer for determining ammonia has been developed, comprising a diode laser as the light source, optical fibers for the light guide and a photodiode as detector. The stability and performance of the new system was investigated by obtaining the calibration curve for the standard ammonia solution. The results showed that the developed spectrometer was useful for the determination of 19.6 μg ∼ 1.960 mg NH3-N/L levels.
