With the improved building construction technologies, it can be possible to construct high-rise building, however, the high-rise building accompanies the un-experienced problems such as stack effect in winter in Korea. There are many countermeasures to minimize the stack effect in high-rise building, sometimes the combination of the countermeasures are correct, sometimes are not. But it is difficult to know what the correct combination is. In this study, the interaction between the countermeasures are analyzed by DOE(Design of Measurement) method and Contamw simulation. Targets office building is located in the Seoul, 45-story and reported for the problems caused by stack effect in winter. The meaning of the countermeasures for stack effect in high-rise building and its interaction will be suggested. These results will be used to plan accurate solutions for stack effect in high-rise building.

To define the problem of stack effect, we usually examine the pressure distribution using field measurement or simulation. Current limit values for pressure differencs of doors to open it for escaping are defined in ASHRAE Research Project 661 or DIN 33411. However, it is difficult to adopt current limit value as a guidline to solve the stack effect related problems in high-rise residential buildings. In this study, the resident complaints for stack effect was analyzed by field measurement and simulation. From the results, the complaints were analyzed as a pressure difference and the problems caused by stack effect can be predicted from the weather and building conditions.

This paper introduces the control and measurement of a double parallel robot manipulator applied for unknown geometric surface grinding. A measurement system is developed to recognize a grinding path by a vision camera and to observe a grinding load by a current sensor. With the measured fusion information, an intelligent controller identifies the unknown geometric surface and moves the robot along the grinding path with a constant grinding load.

In Korea, stack effect is outstanding because of manhattanized residential building and cold weather. Stack effect leads to many habitability-related problems such as noise, strong winds, and poor door opening/closing. Furthermore, indoor environments become more difficult to control by ventilation and air conditioning systems, consequently leading to increased energy consumption. However, the related papers for stack effect are focused on analyzing the reason of stack effect and the effect of countermeasures. In this paper, the effect of the stack effect in high-rise residential building on heating load in winter will be analyzed with building load simulation using airflownetwork model implemented in EnergyPlus. This airflownetwork model was validated with field measurement results. From the simulation results, the heating load is increased about 5% owing to the stack effect in high-rise building in winter.
겨울철 고층 주거건물의 공기유동에 따른 악취확산에 관한 연구

With the quality of residence is getting better, the time that people stay in indoor is getting longer. Therefore dwelling performance of buildings is more and more important. Especially, indoor air quality(IAQ) is emphasized in residential buildings. Despite of the effort for IAQ, the indoor air quality in high-rise building is still poor. This comes from the vertical air flow in high-rise building caused by stack effect in winter. It arouse a lot of related problems such as noise, draft, contaminant dispersion in high-rise buildings. As a stack effect related problem, the characteristics of the fragrance spilled from the floor trap in bathroom will be analyzed in this study. The correlation between the weather condition and the spread of the fragrance lead from a septic tank will be analyzed. Also, the effect of the exhaust fan in bathroom on fragrance spread will be discussed in this paper.

High-rise buildings are being constructed continuously with the concentration of population in downtown areas and the development of the building technology. However, high-rise buildings pose new problems that are not experienced in low-rise buildings, and one representative problem is stack effect. Stack effect is caused by the pressure difference between the inside and outside of a building due to the temperature differences between the two. Stack effect leads to many habitability-related problems such as noise, strong winds, and poor door opening/closing. Furthermore, indoor environments become more difficult to control by ventilation and air conditioning systems, consequently leading to increased energy consumption. Although there are lots of countermeasures to minimize stack effect, there is no significant reduction effect when the countermeasure is wrong applied without understanding the meaning of countermeasure. In this study, the countermeasures which have been studied in previous researches and used today are classified according to the principals. Also, the effect of the countermeasures is analyzed by network simulation method.

The reduction effect of countermeasures for stack effect was analyzed in previous research. In this study, the capability of countermeasures for different climate condition was analyzed. The 3 climate zone (Seoul, Moscov, Dubai) were analyze by network simulation.
