The purpose of this study is to understand and analyze in-depth the gender identify and professional consciousness of female boxing referees. A total of 5 female referees with 3 year work experience or more were recruited by purposive sampling. Narrative inquiry has been implemented in collecting and analyzing data. The result of this study were as follows. First, the story about gender identity of female referees includes how they get this profession. Most of them started their life of boxing referees by acquaintances or their own interest in boxing. In the process of entering in the field of boxing, they realized that they needed masculinity. Masculinity is recognized as the minimum defence mechanism in the male centered society at the initial stage of their occupation and then later they became aware of needs of feminine sensitivity and warm-heartedness as female referees. This enlightenment allows them to find their gender identity. Second, formation of profession identity has demonstrated the difficulty of female referees that they experienced on the way. Their professional identity includes advancement of boxing and leaving the traditional female role in the family. They work hard even in the work environment of verbal violence and gender discrimination by colleagues and coaches. Some of them had to quit or change their jobs and others broke through the gender discrimination. Gender or sexuality play role in discriminate male and female and hindered female referees from working as professional.

This study aims at investigating the decision process of middle school girls who are situated in study and training as judo athletes. 7 middle school girls who are judo athletes in Seoul and Gangwon Province participated in participatory observation and in-depth interview. The student-athletes made their decision based on imitation of colleague players, poor academic achievement, demand level of exercise participation, interference of their parents, impact of school and related Judo officials, and their own enthusiasm. The decision was made by social decision making process as a group rather than personal individual decision process. The decision making process of student-athletes under goes the following steps; 1st step, searching for the other student-athlete who is in the same situation. 2nd step, forming association with them in order to act together. 3rd step, modifying opinion among their association. This often includes vote among themselves. 4th step, following their converged opinion. Final step, the more powerful decisive parties were school teachers, Judo related officials, and their parents than student-athletes themselves. The result of the current study can be used as baseline data to provide student-athletes have a choice over study and training as equivalent parts in their lives and it can provide them as guidance when they choose study over training and life as an athlete.

본 연구는 연구 제목을 바탕으로 스포츠 코칭 연구 동향을 살펴보기 위한 기초 작업의 하나로 탐색적 차원에서 진행된 것이다. 연구 목적을 위해 2015년부터 2020년까지 학술연구정보서비스(RISS)에 등록된 학술논문(등재 학회지, 등재 후보학회지)을 대상으로 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내 스포츠 코칭 연구 논문은 2015년부터 2020년까지 총 25개의 학술지에 총 66편의 논문이 게재되었다. 둘째, 국내 스포츠 코칭 연구 논문에서는 코칭 행동 (18편), 멘탈 코칭 (6편), 코칭 지식 (5편), 코칭 리더십 (4편) 및 코칭 언어 (4편) 등 총 25개의 연구주제가 다루어졌다. 셋째, 스포츠 종목별로 보면, 태권도 (8편) 와 축구 (6편)가 가장 많았다. 넷째, 연구유형은 변수 간의 관계 검증(20편), 프로그램 개발(4편)과 관련된 논문이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 이런 결과를 앞으로 스포츠 코칭 영역에서는 스포츠 코칭의 개념, 이론 체계 정립, 코칭 장르의 분류 등과 같이 전혀 연구되지 않은 부분이나 새로운 영역에 관한 연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다. 향후 이런 추가적인 연구 결과가 축적된다면, 경영 영역의 코칭과 비교 연구가 가능할 것으로 예상한다. This study was conducted at an exploratory level as one of the basic works to examine the trend of sports coaching research based on the research title. For research purposes, academic papers registered in the Academic Research Information Service (RISS) from 2015 to 2020 were analyzed (registered academic journals and registered candidate journals). The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, a total of 66 papers were published in a total of 25 journals from 2015 to 2020. Second, a total of 25 research topics were covered in domestic sports coaching research papers, including coaching behavior (18 pieces), mental coaching (6 pieces), coaching knowledge (5 pieces), coaching leadership (4 pieces), and coaching language (4 pieces). Third, by sports event, Taekwondo (8 episodes) and soccer (6 episodes) were the most common. Fourth, as for the research type, there were many papers related to the relationship verification between variables (20 pieces) and program development (4 pieces). In the future, in the field of sports coaching, research on areas that have not been studied at all, such as the concept of sports coaching, the establishment of a theoretical system, and the classification of coaching genres, will be needed. If these additional research results are accumulated in the future, coaching and comparative research in the management area are expected to be possible.

실업 복싱팀 지도자와 선수의 상호역할에 대한 기대 연구

This study aims at investigating what the coaches and boxers for each other in terms of interroles in the business boxing. Qualitative research method which included 8 personnels, boxers and coaches as the participants has been conducted for the inquiry. The intensive analysis has shown that the coaches and the boxers were managing the teamwork without significant problems outwardly, however, they had the discordance and conflicts in interrole among them. The team coaches expect that the boxers should observe the requirements such as training, taking part in the games, physique managements, injury managements, fulfillment of contract, and no activities in other institutions requirement. The boxers consider that the team coaches should assess annual salary and bonus properly, conform to the term of contract, allot the appropriate workload and implement efficient coaching. The areas of improvement to resolve the role conflicts between two parties could be suggested as follow; Improvement of living environment and coaching, image managements and physique managements, resonable assessment on the annual salary and bonus, secure of the players, and freedom of the boxers’ team choice.

This research is concerned with the life of the women who married boxer. In order to know their real life about the special meaning and role as the wife of boxer, I analyzed five wives’s life from the December in 2011 to the April in 2012. First or all, The meaning of family that they considered is the fantasy and reality of the wedding with boxer. the fantasy of wedding is about the happy life the wife dreamed before wedding. The reality of wedding is about the husband who differs from person they expected in fantasy, the living together due to a pregnancy, lost love, absence of communication, the irregular life of athlete, interfered privacy and an act of violence of athlete. Throughout these reality factors, we can see the meaning of the family the wife of boxer think. Next wife before marriage was a boxer I think that the meaning of family, parents, brothers, relatives within the meaning of the extended family of my husband’s coworkers can see, the family was to reconstruct the birth of a child hurt her and remained a burden. The lastly, The wife of boxer conducted necessary role as a helper, curer, coach, honorary ambassador, tutor, future planner, economic partner and sex partner.
