In this study, the characteristics of glass and ceramic fiber were investigated based on silicone rubber matrix which exhibits excellent heat resistance. The ablation performance of these materials was compared with that of EPDM (Ethylene-Propylene Diene Monomer) composite materials currently used in solid rocket motors, through high temperature ablation testing. A composition that included 2 phr and 12 phr of glass fibers and ceramic fibers, respectively, underwent evaluation, and the results showed that the addition of ceramic fibers improved the materials ablation performance compared to EPDM composite materials currently in use.
