What are the expansion process and determinants of the Korean firm` foreign direct investments to developing countries in which the local investment environments are uncertain? This study examined three cases of Korean firms who have invested in Vietnam and Myanmar. They have established a growth platform and built up local capabilities through the intial investment activities and learning. Then when favorable investment opportunities have arrived or the uncertainty has resolved, they have launched further investments. Also they have maximized the value of their investments through a small joint venture to consider the investment irreversibility under uncertainty.

This study was conducted to estimate the mechanical properties of steel structure such as stress intensity factor and crack propagation by using the AE parameters. Considering the multivariate and nonlinear properties of AE parameters such as ring-down count, rise time, energy, event duration and peak amplitude from fatigue crack propagation, the multiple linear regression (MLR), principal component regression (PCR) and artificial neural network (ANN) model for estimation of the stress intensity factor (SIF) were developed and validated. The AE parameters were found to be very significant to estimate the stress intensity factor. The performance and stability of each model for SIF were analyzed and compared. The ANN model for SIF was better than MLR and PCR model.

Acoustic emission technique was employed for the monitoring of crack activity in steel bridge members. Laboratory experiment was carried out to identify active fatigue crack for the several test condition such as a different specimen type, a varying of cyclic load ratio. The results of this test indicated that the crack propagation characteristics for fatigue cycles did not change significantly with different type of beam. Through all of tests, load ratio of specimen affected significantly to the results such as the crack growth rate and the amount of generating AE signals. From fracture mechanics point of view, the straight curve obtained from theoretical calculation by Paris equation was well correlated to the experimental results. AE location events were not early detected although several AE hits from each sensor were generated in the early of the test. However the features of three parameters, that is, crack growth length, AE location events and cumulative AE events, showed almost same trend in their increase with the number of cycles. Although there were somewhat scattered location in the vicinity of upper flange, which were considered as environmental noises, good locations near the actual crack tip were obtained. Post filtering work was carried out to eliminate these unwanted location, good results were obtained from filtering work using AE parameters.

본 사례에서는 해외자회사가 왜 그리고 어떻게 공장규모를 확대하는지를 살펴보고자 한다.투자환경이 불확실한 베트남에 진출한 농약원제회사가 현지 자회사의 공장규모를 확대하는 과정을 기술함으로써 해외직접투자의 확대과정을 이해하고자 한다.1993년 당시 포철의 계열사였던 제철화학은 한국과 베트남 사이의 산업협력 차원에서 베트남 최초로 농약원제공장인 코스비다(KOSVIDA)를 합작으로 설립하였다. 코스비다는 1995년 2월 연산 1,200톤 규모의 공장을 완공하고 카바메이트계 농약원제인 BPMC와 CARBO를 연간 700톤 정도로 생산하여 왔다. 과도한 금융비용 부담과 중국산 저가제품의 무분별한 유입으로 어려운 시기가 있었지만 1998년부터 순이익을 내기 시작하였으며, 1999년 10월에논 본사공장의 가동중단에 따라 생산규모를 연산 2,000톤으로 확장하였다. 이에 따라 코스비다는 안정적인 성장기반을 구축하고 인근 동남아시장을 개척하면서 세계적인 카바메이트계 농약원제업체로 성장하고 있다. KOSVIDA AGROCHEMICAL Co., Ltd., established on November 1993, is the JV among VIPESCO(Vietnam), KOSCO(Korea) & DAEWOO Corp.(Korea). This is the first organic chemical plant that produces carbamate active ingredients to formulate various kinds of pesticides in Vietnam.In this case we will discuss the reason and process that KOSVIDA has expanded its plant scale and grown to worldwide producer of BPMC and Carbofuran products notwithstanding the governance structure change and hardship in management of KOSCO which has managed KOSVIDA.

본 논문은 지수를 추종하기 위해 유전 알고리즘에 몬테카를로 샘플링을 추가한 방법을 제안한다. 몬테카를로 샘플링을 통해 효율적으로 축소된 탐색공간을 탐험하는 유전 알고리즘은 최적의 종목들을 선택한다. 제안된 방법을 KOSPI200 지수 추종에 대하여 실험하였다. 제안된 방법이 몬테카를로 샘플링을 사용하지 않는 유전 알고리즘에 비해 지수 추종 오차가 더 낮고 더 빠르게 수렴하는 것을 보여주었다.
