Granulocytic sarcoma is an uncommon tumor composed of granulocytic precursor cells, Because it occurs in a variety of clinical settings and because the tumor cells are primitive it is frequently unrecognized or misdiagnosed during life. Most tumors were originally diagnosed as lymphoma when the patient had prominent lymphadenopathy. Chloroacetate esterase stain and antilysozyme immunoperoxidase stain were very useful in confirming the diagnosis. This presentation is the authors' experience with an unusual case of granulocytic sarcoma presented as generalized lymphadenopathy, which was confirmed by bone marrow study and lymph node biopsy with special stains, such as chloroacetate esterase stain and antilysozyme immunoperoxidase stain.

Primary lymphomas of the thyroid occur predominantly in elderly women who present with histories of rapid enlargement of the thyroid gland, often with dysphagia, hoarseness, and symtoms of tracheal compression. Involvement of only one lobe is common. Malignant lymphoma of thyroid has been frequently associated with lymphocytic thyroiditis. Recently we experienced a case of thyroid lymphoma associated with an underlying lymphocytic hyroiditis in 64-year-old female who complained of rapid growing firm, well circumscribed movable mass in anterior neck for 3 months. The thyroid function was within normal limits. Grossly, the entire lobe was nearly replaced by homogeneous white yellow rubbery mass of fish flesh glistening apperance. On light microscopy, it was histologic type of malignant lymphona by the Rappaport classification (high grade, large cell, immunoblastic type by Working formulation; FCC, immunoblastic type by Lukes-Colline classification), associated with chronic lymphocytic thyreiditis. All 14 nodes found in the adjacent tissue are partially or totally replaced by lymphomatous changes.
