The current study aimed to clarify the generation and formation of “Ooka-Seidan: Biography of ‘pedlar Hikobei’, which is famous for original plays/films/storytelling (講談), distributed as manuscripts during the Edo period. We looked at the literary background of the ‘True story novels’(実録体小説) ‘pedlar Hikobei’. Futokoro-suzuri Volume 5 Part 3 “Iai-mo-damasuni-tenashi”(Saikaku’s work) and Soken-hiji Volume 6 Part 7 “Inga-no-meguriau-hitachiobi”(Getsujindo’s work) shared “Dojo-sashu” in Toin-hiji as the subject matter, and the creative method of Shokoku-ingamonogatari Volume 2 “After 22 years son took revenge on his mother's enemy” was identified. By comparing this story with a similar story in the Kyoho-sesetsu(folk tale), a common narrative structure was observed as a type, and the original form of the Biography of ‘pedlar Hikobei’, was pointed out. Using this type as an analysis framework, the biography of ‘pedlar Hikobei’ will be able to check the movements of text creation that has grown by consuming various motifs of various genres of the Edo era. .

The purpose of this study is to identify how servant leadership in hotel organization on the influence on the customer orientation based on the psychological contract in the hotel industry. In response to changing hotel industry environment, this study aims to examine the relationship between each variable to suggest detailed and strategic implementation direction and measures for implications in the aspect of the human resource management. The study result showed that the psychological contract relationship can be formed when the leader becomes a servant leader who leads the divisions well, integrates with other workers, maintains teamwork. In accordance with the study result, such servant leader completes customer-oriented service in hotel organization.

Ionically modified β-cyclodextrins, which have excellent water-solubility, have been interested in purification technology as well as drug carrier system. The present study summarizes the synthesis and characterization of cationic and anionic β-cyclodextrin (β-CyD) products using by polycondensation. The oligo (β-CyD)s are synthesized from β-CyD, epichlorohydrin (EP) and choline chloride (CC; for cationic polymer) or chloroacetic acid (CAA; for anionic polymer) through one step polycondenstaion process. Unlike the previous studies, we successfully purified the ionic β-CyD condensation products from the β-CyD reaction mixtures and accomplished a great level of structural analysis. The detailed structural analysis of these ionic β-CyD compounds is done by 1H NMR, MALDI-TOF as well as GPC analysis and confirms the formation of oligomers with a few units of β-CyD. We found that the sequence of reactant addition also could effect on the molecular weight of the resulting product as well as the molar ratio of the reactants. Finally, we used the cationic and anionic β-CyD oligomers for fabricating multilayer films by layer-layer process.
Polymer-inorganic hybrid surface coating for biomedial/environmental applications

For many years, we have conducted research on modifying the surface with polymeric coatings that contains weak polyelectrolytes, which are pH- and ionic strength-responsive, water-soluble polymers. Some of the coatings include metal nanoparticles those created in polymer-hybrid systems. These organic-inorganic hybrid materials revealed multiplexed properties that may be applied as a novel material for biomedical and/or environmental engineering fields. For those applications, an excellent biocompatibility or no cytotoxicity may be the most important property of the coating. Therefore, we examined biocompatibility of the materials, and furthermore, studied the cellular responses including adhesion, proliferation, motility on the coatings. Throughout the study, we utilized layer-by-layer deposition method which allowed to create nano-scaled composite materials. The characteristics of the environmental-resposive polymers were extra attributes of this system which allows us to explore various results in their film surface properties.
1LC-1 Biofunctional Surfaces by using Multilayered Polymer Hybrid Coatings

We have been studied cellular interactions on various polyelectrolyte multilayer film-coated surfaces. The results of those study indicated that the coatings having neutral or negatively charged hydrophilic surface exhibited excellent cell-blocking ability with non-cytotoxic nature. We applied these excellent biocompatible coatings with microcontact printing for the study of cellular activities including adhesion, motility, proliferation, cell-cell networking both on open flat surface and on inner surfaces of micro-channeled devices. Multilayer films comprised of weak polyelectrolytes exhibit different surface properties as they were assembled at different pH conditions. Therefore, cellular interactions including adhesion can be shown differently by depending on the PEM surfaces. Polyelectrolytes including biodegradable polymers were investigated for this study, and we also include the potential application of this polymeric coating for membrane technology.
