      • ADENINE이 ETHIONINE으로 야기된 간세포상해의 회복에 미치는 영향에 관한 전자현미경적 연구

        흰쥐에 ethionine을 체중 gm당 1㎎씩 투여한 군 12마리와 같은 조건을 준 후, 6시간만에 adenine을 재차 투여한 군 12마리의 간세포에 일어난 변화를 생리식염수 단독투여군, 생리식염수 투여 후, adenine을 투여한 군 및 ethionine 투여 후, 생리식염수를 투여한군등 대조군과 비교하여, 전자현미경을 중심으로 하여 관찰한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 광학현미경으로는 ethionine을 투여 하면, 3시간째에 이미 혼탁종창을 비롯한 변성성 변화를 나타내어 시간이 갈수록 심해져서 12시간때에는 죽음의 직전에 이른듯한 상을 보였으나, adenine을 투여한 군에있어서는 전체적으로 변화가 경미하였으며, adenine투여 후, 6시간째에는 3시간째 보다 오히려 회복되는 경향을 나타내었다. 전자현미경으로는 ER의 확장 및 ribosome의 탈락등 단백합성기구의 변화와 mitochondria에는 종창, cristae의 기대 및 부분적 파열상을 보이고 핵은 변연의 불규칙, 염색질의 감소등을 나타내었다. 이러한 변화는 시간의 경과에 따라 더 심해졌고, adenine투여후 3시간 째는 ethionine단독투여군과 거의 같은 정도의 변화가 있었으나, 그 이후는 오히려 회복이되고 adenine투여 9시간에는 거의 정상한 세포에 가까왔다. 그러나, adenine투여 후, lysosome은 증가 하였다. 이상의 실험적으로 보아 ethionine으로 인한 간세포의 상해는 adenine으로 회복이 가능하며, 회복이 불가한 세포내 소기관은 그 회복된 단백합성 능력으로 새로이 형성된 lysosome에 의해 처리되나, 새로운 lysosome의 형성은 시간이 어느정도 (본실험에 의하면 adenine투여 6시간후) 걸린다고 생각된다. There are many reports about the hepatotoxicity of ethionine and the reversibility of the injury by methionine, adenine, inosine and so on. Ethionine induces degenerative changes of the liver cell nucleus and various cytoplasmic organells for which adenine may reverse and prevent such alterations of them. The purpose of this observation is to review the alterations of cytoplasmic organells and nucleus and to attemp to study the relationship between structural and biochemical changes of hepatic cells, especially of those structures related to the lysosomes. DL-Ethionine (1 ㎎/ gm of body weight) was injected intraperitoneally to 24 rate and adenine sulfate (32㎎) was rsinjected intraperitoneally to the half of them 6hrs after initial injection. Control groups were received saline only, ethionine and saline, or saline and aden ine respectively. Each group of animals was killed at 3,6,9 and 12 hrs after the last injection respectively and the livers were taken from the rats. Sections of the tissue were observed under the light and election microscopes: The liver cells showed slight cloudy swelling in early time and progresssively severer in later time, but milder in adenine treated group. On the electron microscopical levels, liver cells showed dilatation of endoplasmic reticulum, shedding of ribosome, swelling and partial disruption of mitochondria, and increase of various types of the lysosomes. Most of the lysosomes in early stage were primary type but changed to secondary type in later time. Adenine injection induced production of new primary lysosome and recovering of the alterations of cytoplasmic organells. The results suggest that adenine can reverse ethionine induced alterations of the organells but already injured organells go on destruction by newly formed lysosomes.

        A tendency of increasing incidence of malignant lymphomas have been reported by many authors An analysis of 204 cases (autopsy and biopsy) of malignant lymphoma, that were examined at the department of pathology, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, during a period of 13 years from January 1955 to December 1967 was made. The relative incidence of malignant lymphoma among all types of malignant tumors in the same period at this department was 9.1 per cent The sex ratio showed predominance in male with male to female ratio of about 2.7 : 1 The age distribution was relatively extensive but disclosed peak level to be in the third and fourth decades (40%). Ages of 204 cases ranged from one month to 78 years with the average of 33 years of age. The 204 cases of malignant lymphoma were classified histologically into lymphosarcoma, lymphocytic type (19.6%), lymphosarcoma, lymphoblastic type (11.3%), lymphosarcoma, mixed type (6.4), reticulum cell sarcoma (47.5%), Hodgkin's disease (13.7%) and giant follicular lymphoma(1.5). The difference in histological pattern comparing with those reported from other countries might be reflection geographical and racial difference. Biopsy was done in 198 cases, and it was done on cervical lymph nodes (36.7%) most frequently, on tonsils (11.6%), on pharyngo-larngeal region(8.7%), on nasal cavity (8.7%), on nasal cavity (8.7%) and on the other sites in order.

        Salmonella Osteomyelitis has been rare in the published literature of Korea. The authors recently experienced two cases of salmonella osteomyelitis in femur shaft. Salmonella typhi D group was elicited by culture of pus obtained from pathologic lesion by surgical saucerization. Satisfactory result was obtained by radical curettage and antibiotic therapy. Review of literature was done with report of two cases of salmonella osteomyelitis in femur shaft.

      • 發癌過程의 結締組織皮膜과 誘發腫瘍의 酸性뮤코多糖에 關한 硏究

        A study was made of changes of acid mucoplysacharides in a malignant tumor and connective tissue capsules following a subcutaneous imbedding of four metal plates in Sprague-Dawley rats, in an attempt to clarify the induction of tumor in reference to the histological findings and the components of acid mucopolysaccharides. Acid mucopolysaccharides were isolated through a proteolytic digestion from the malignant tumor developed and the connective tissue capsules of four groups 90, 180, 270 and 360 days after imbedding, and fractionated with cetylpyridinium chloride. The components of acid mucopolysaccharides were studied with a two-dimensional electrophoresis on a cellulose acetate strip, hexosamine analysis, chondroitin sulfate isomers analysis, and enzymatic methods with the application of chodroitinase ABC and chondroitinase AC. The results obtained were as follows: 1) Fibroblastic activity in the superficial layers of connective tissue capsules was found on the 180th day after imbedding, and the activity increased more markedly in the deeper layers on the 360th day after imbedding. 2) The concentration of acid mucopolysaccharides in connective tissue capsules was highest 180 days, intermediate 270 and 360 days. and lowest 90 days after imbedding. 3) The acid mucopolysaccharides in the developed malignant tumor and for kinds of connective tissue capsules proved to be hyaluronic acid, heparan sulfate, chondroitin sulfate A and chondroitin sulfate B. Only the 90-day-old connective tissue capsule additionally contained very small amounts of heparin. 4) Sulfated mucopolysaccharides in connective tissue capsules showed a gradual increase possibly due to a decrease in nonsulfated mucopolysaccharides. The 180-day-old connective tissue capsule showed an increase in the amounts of both chondroitin sulfate A and chondroitin sulfate B, while the 360day-old revealed more increase in chondroitin sulfate A. The main component in the developed malignant tumor proved to chondroitin sulfate A (43. 0%) 5) An Increase in the amounts of chondroitin sulfate A seems to facilitate malignant change of fibroblasts which appeared in the deeper layers of the 360-day-old connective tissue capusule.
