Lenalidomide is an immunomodulatory drug used for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Several cases of hematological, gastrointestinal, and cutaneous side effects have been reported for this drug. A 67-year-old patient with multiple myeloma had initially been treated with bortezomib, but the treatment was discontinued due to neurological side effects. The chemotherapeutic regimen of this patient was changed to lenalidomide. Ten days later, erythema and pruritus developed on the entire body. The lenalidomide dose was subsequently reduced and the patient was additionally treated with topical steroids. Because lenalidomide is supplied by the Korean Orphan Drug Center, physicians have limited experience with the drug, and hence, its side effects tend to be underestimated. In addition, the Korean literature lacks reports on such cases. We describe herein a case of lenalidomide-induced drug eruption presenting as a pruritic rash covering the whole body. Background: Healthy skin is an important determinant of the quality of life and physical and mental well-being. The demand for dermatological information is increasing not only in patients with skin diseases, but also in the general population with normal/healthy skin. However, public perception and behavior with regard to skin health among Koreans are not known. Objective: To examine public perception and behaviors with regard to skin health in Koreans visiting the Skin Health Expo 2017. Methods: A total of 597 participants completed a questionnaire that assessed demographics, status, and behavior for skin health and Expo satisfaction. Results: Respondents with higher stress levels and a history of skin diseases showed lower satisfaction with self-skin health. Most participants considered adequate sleep and water intake to be important factors associated with healthy skin. One-on-one consultation with dermatologists was the most satisfactory among participants at the Expo. Conclusion: Educational tools using mass media and informative activities such as the Expo planned by dermatologists and the government are necessary to spread awareness and provide proper information to improve skin health in thegeneral population and to emphasize the key role of dermatologists in skin disorders with a social burden. Background: Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with long-term use of topical and systemic medications. Several articles have described the use of balneotherapy as an adjuvant treatment for atopic dermatitis in many countries, including Korea. Objective: The goal of this study was to investigate the therapeutic efficacy and safety of balneotherapy as an adjuvant treatment of atopic dermatitis. Methods: Ten patients with atopic dermatitis were enrolled in this study and each patient served as their own control. Testing was conducted on the anterior cubital fossa of the arm. A priori binary randomization was completed to determine which arm would receive balneotherapy or tap water. Patients visited clinics 3 times per week for 2 weeks and had a forearm bath for 15 minutes. Assessment was performed at baseline, and after 1 and 2 weeks of treatment. Results: At the last visit, the balneotherapy group showed improvements in their local eczema area, severity index score, and the degree transepidermal water loss. The physician’s global assessment, patient’s self-global assessment, and skin hydration was increased in both groups. Conclusion: Our study suggests that balneotherapy is a safe adjuvant therapy that could be considered for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. However, more studies are required to demonstrate scientific basis for this treatment. (Korean J Dermatol 2019;57(10):594∼599)

Background: Sweet syndrome is characterized by tender erythematous plaques and nodules with predominantly dermal neutrophilic infiltrates. Sweet syndrome is relatively rare in children and adolescents. To date, only a few cases have been reported in Korean literature. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and histopathological features of Sweet syndrome in Korean children and adolescents. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 15 pediatric patients (aged <18 years) who were diagnosed with Sweet syndrome between 1991 and 2019. We reviewed the clinical and histopathological features of Sweet syndrome. Results: The age of the 15 patients ranged from 4 months to 17 years. Among the 15 patients with Sweet syndrome, nine patients were females and six patients were males. Most patients (80%) had lesions on the upper extremities. Fever and tenderness (60%) were the most commonly associated symptoms. Transient infections such as upper respiratory infection or gastroenteritis were the most common identifiable cause, observed in 40% of patients. Histopathologically, dermal neutrophilic infiltration was observed in all patients. All patients were treated with systemic corticosteroids and showed a good response, although 26.7% of the patients experienced symptom recurrence. During the follow-up period, there were no incidences of any complications or extracutaneous manifestations in the patients. Conclusion: In contrast to previous reports of pediatric Sweet syndrome, female predominance was observed in this study. Transient infection was the most common factor. All patients responded well to systemic corticosteroid therapy without complications or extracutaneous manifestations during the follow-up period. (Korean J Dermatol 2021;59(3):167∼174)
