독거노인은 지역사회에서 계속 살고 싶을까? : 정주의식, 거주환경만족도, 노화불안의 관계를 중심으로

이 연구는 초고령사회의 대안으로 제시된 Aging in Place 관점에서, 노인의 건강하고 만족스러운 삶을 보장하는 정주의식을 향상하기 위한 방안을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 사회적 위험이 높은 독거노인을 대상으로, 정주의식에 영향을 미치는 요인 중 거주환경만족도와 노화불안을 살펴보고, 노화불안의 매개적 효과를 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수원시 독거노인 436명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 분석결과, 거주환경만족도와 정주의식 사이에서 노화불안의 부분매개효과가 나타났다. 거주환경만족도가 높은 지역에 거주하는 독거노인일수록 노화에 대한 불안이 감소하였고, 이를 통해 지역사회 내 계속 거주를 희망하는 정주의식이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과에 근거하여, 정주의식 향상을 위해 거주환경의 총체적 차원(주택환경, 지역사회환경, 이웃환경, 지역서비스 접근성)의 개입, 노화인식개선, 그리고 통합적 사례관리 실천을 제안하였다. The purpose of this study is to find the strategies for increasing settlement consciousness among the elderly people based on the Aging in Place. This study analyzed the mediating effects of aging anxiety on the relationship between the residential environment satisfaction and settlement consciousness among the elderly living alone. A total of 436 elderly people living alone in Suwon were surveyed. The results showed that the aging anxiety played the partial mediating effects on the relationship between the residential environment satisfaction and settlement consciousness. The elderly living alone who were more satisfied with the residential environment were less likely to feel the aging anxiety, which led to the higher level of the settlement consciousness. Suggestions were made that multi-faceted intervention of residential environment(housing, community, neighborhood, service accessibility), awareness improvement of aging, integrative case management practice for increasing the settlement consciousness.

무엇이 노인의 삶을 더욱 불만족스럽게 만드는가?: 주거와 돌봄의 이중결핍의 영향

이 연구는 ‘에이징 인 플레이스(AIP)’의 관점에서, 노인에 대한 돌봄과 주거의 이중결핍이 노인의 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석한 것이다. 본 연구는 노인에게 주거가 가지는 의미에 착목하여 적정수준 이하의 주거는 그 자체로도, 그리고 돌봄 결핍과 함께 결합되어 노인의 삶 만족도를 떨어뜨리는 핵심 요인일 것이라는 가정 하에서 진행되었다. 확률비례계통추출법으로 표본을 추출하여 설문조사한 수원시 지역사회욕구조사 2차 자료 중 464명의 노인 자료를 활용하였다. 주거결핍과 돌봄결핍을 결합시켜 해당 요인이 노인의 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과 첫째, 돌봄결핍보다 적정하지 못한 주거가 노인의 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 돌봄과 주거의 이중결핍은 제한적 수준에서 노인의 삶 만족도를 떨어뜨리는 것으로 나타났다. 주거결핍 자체, 그리고 돌봄결핍과 결합된 주거결핍이 돌봄결핍 이상으로 노인의 삶의 만족을 떨어뜨리는 중요한 요인으로 작용하고 있다는 것은 노인이 필요로 하는 돌봄을 적정한 주거환경 속에서 제공받도록 하는 통합적인 노인생활지원체계 구축이 필요하다는 것을 보여준다. This study has analyzed the effects of double deficit of care and housing on the life satisfaction of the elderly from the perspective of ‘Ageing in Place(AIP)’. Focused on the importance of the meaning of the housing to the old, in this study we hypothesized that improper housing would be main factor to obstruct satisfactory life of the old combined with inadequate care and by itself separately. Using the secondary data on the community need assessment survey of Su-won city, a total of 494 old population were employed for analysis. According to the analysis of the combining effects of care deficit and housing deficit on the life satisfaction on the elderly, firstly, double deficit of care and housing has significant effects on the life satisfaction of the old in a limited sense. Secondly, housing deficit has more influence than care deficit on the life satisfaction of the old. The results that Housing deficit reduces shows that the quality of housing is more important factor than adequate care for the elderly’s life satisfaction. It shows that it is necessary to establish an integrated life support system for the elderly, which provides care needed for the elderly in the proper housing environment.
