Variable line pressure is important for improving the efficiency of Automatic Transmission. Oil Pump pressure is reduced to a minimum level for any operating condition based on torque requirements. Operation at minimum line pressure is a major factor in reduction of pump loss and the resulting in fuel economy. In this paper, we propose variable line pressure system and the linear modeling of the system for investigating the stability of the valve behavior and the line pressure characteristics.

The oil pump power loss in transmission efficiency in automatic transmission is an important factor. Because, the pump supply rate at high engine speeds is much greater than the Transmission needs. This paper proposes two-oil pumping system minimizing of flow rate and power demand in the automatic Transmission. In addition, the electric oil pump control method of optimization is proposed. The effect of pumping system was confirmed by experiment. As a result of the simulation, two-oil pumping system is expected to improve both fuel efficiency and acceleration performance.

Power Loss in a pushing metal V-belt continuously variable transmission is analysed and compared with the experiment. Belt Losses at band-band, band-block and block-pulley interfaces are calculated taking the pulley deflection into account. Other losses at the oil pump, clutches, gears, bearings and seals are included to estimate the total loss of CVT. The predicted loss showed good agreement with the experimental results. Investigation into the influence of the apply pressure of the pulley on the loss showed that the apply pressure should be controlled as low as possible to increase the efficiency of the transmission.
