This paper deals with design and dynamic analysis of electromagnets for levitation applications. On the basis of equivalent magnetic circuit (EMC) method and 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) model, initial and detailed design for electromagnets are performed. Using the state equation for the closed-loop control, the dynamic analysis of electromagnets is also performed. Finally, this paper investigates the variation of levitation force according to current under fixed nominal air-gap, and the variation of required current according to load weight in order to maintain the nominal air-gap. From these results, the validation of design and dynamic analysis of electromagnets is confirmed. In particular, the influence of winding temperature on levitation control is discussed in detail.

This paper deals with design of Linear Switched Reluctance Motor (LSRM) considering to normal force. First, we derived design factor from pole arc ratio of stator and mover, and calculated time constant using inductance and resistance. Second, we decided design parameter from design factor using time constant, and analyze characteristics for LSRM using finite element analysis. Finally, we analyzed force characteristic according to design factor.

This paper deals with dynamic characteristics of LSRM. Position choose mover of LSRM and inductance. When approved current in each phase by decided position, we made sure current and voltage according to turn-on, tum-off. In dynamic simulation of LSRM, through an experiment, we decided turn-on position of inductance profile. Also, we presented dynamic characteristic analysis model which is consisted at motor and sensor signal part, etc., and substitute circuit constant that get using magnetic equivalent circuit method, we confirmed current and voltage waveform.

This paper deals with extraction of design parameters of Linear Switched Reluctance Motor (LSRM) based on force calculation using space harmonic analysis, 2D Finite Element Method (FEM) andexperimental measurement. First, analytical solutions for flux density due to mover winding currents are derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and a 2D rectangular coordinate system, for the case when the mover is located at aligned and unaligned position. The analytical results are compared with those obtained from a 2D FEM. Second, using Fourier series expansion. this paper predicts the force profile of LSRM analytically.
