브로드케스팅 통신선로를 사용하여 다중프로세스 동시통신을 구현하는 새로운방법을 제시한다. 우선 프로그램으로 부터 각 동시통신을 분석하여 각각에 하나의 전담 프로세스를 할당한 후 서로 사이의 상호의존성을 구한다. 다음은 각 프로세스가 다른 프로세스들이 교신하는 것을 엿들을 수 있는 브로드케팅 통신선로의 특징을 활용한다. 따라서 제안된 방법에서는 각 동시통신을 관장하는 프로세스는 다른 동시통신에 관한 최신 정보를 알 수 있기 때문에 프로세스 사이의 교신량을 상당히 줄이고서도 상호의존성이 있는 동시통신 사이의 충돌을 피할 수 있고 공정성 보장도 가능하다. A new scheme for synchronizing multiple processes in common handshakes on a broadcasting network is presented. The scheme firstly makes use of the static information from the given program: assigning a master process for each handshake and the dependency information among handshakes. Next, the coordination among conflicting handshakes takes advantage of the broadcasting network where each process is allowed to eavesdrop on messages not directed addressed to it. Therefore, in the proposed scheme, each process can keep up with the most up-to-date global information, which enables the resolution of the conflicts among handshakes which share some common processes with considerably reduced communication overhead. Also, the proposed scheme guarantees fairness for the execution of the handshakes in the system.

In order to promote the industry of information, communication, and multimedia it is important to study and develop the DAVIC related technologies. Especially the specification of SI(system Integration) and the analysis of Interoperability Test are important because the main objective of DAVIC is to gurantee interoperability across AV(Audio-Visual) systems. Since the first release of DAVIC Spec.1.0 on the December 1995. DAVIC has updated it into Spec. 1.1. Spec. 1.2. and Spec. 1.3 during the last two years(1996-1997), and has now a lot of members who are developing the DAVIC complient systems. The first Interoperability Test event was held at the columbia University, USA, during the 13th DAVIC meeting on the June 1996. On the Sept. 1996, the 2nd Interoperability Test event was also held at the Tokyo Electronics Show, and the 3rd one was held at the Telecom Interactive 97 in the Geneva on the Sept. 1997. However the activities of DAVIC in Korea are less metured compared to the one in the other foreign countries. Our contributions to DAVIC Spec. are also much less than the well-established foreign members. Hence we have studied the main parts of DAVIC Spec. 1.0 and also analyzed the results of three Interoperability Tests Events in order to boost our R/D for DAVIC products.

This paper surveys application and utilization of distributed processing technologies in next generation networking architecture. Firstly the characteristics and requirements of next generation networking architecture are described and then the method of applying existing distributed processing technologies for satisfying the requirements is presented. This paper also introduces several research projects of next generation networking architecture, which is based on distributed processing technologies. Finally future research areas of distributed processing technologies for nextgeneration networking environments are summarized.

Mobile computing is possible by the popularization of potable computers and the generalization of mobile communication technologies. The primary function of Mobile Host protocols(MHPs) is to provide transparency to users using Mobile Hosts(MHs). Serveral MHPs have been suggested and implemented these years. In this paper, I introduce the concept of the mobile computing and compare the caracteristics of MHPs which have been studied, i. e., Columbia, Sony, Matsushita, IBM, IETF' IPv4 and IPv6.

다양한 멀티미디어 어플리케이션 서비스의 요구가 증대됨에 따라 이전까지의 멀티미디어 연구는 통신을 고려하지 않은 stand-alone computer에서의 단독 서비스가 대상이었지만 근래에 고속 네트웍이 등장하고 여러 압축기술 및 비디오 기술 발달로 인해 멀티미디어 통신이 가능한 환경이 조성되고 있다. 멀티미디어 트래픽의 주류를 차지하는 오디오, 비디오 정보는 연속 트래픽(continuous traffic) 특성이 있으므로 네트웍을 통해 다른 시스템에 전송시 discrete traffic처리와는 다른 방법이 필요하다. 본 연구는 멀티미디어 통신의 필요성을 살펴보고 멀티미디어 트래픽 특성 및 요구사항을 파악, 여러 멀티미디어 통신용 시스템 및 프로토콜의 연구동향 및 표준화 내용을 조사 분석한다. A study of multimedia so far is about a single service on a stand-alone computer, without the consideration of a multimedia communication. But, the increasing demands on a various multimedia application services have stimulated formation of a computing environment which is based on a multimedia communication platform. The communication of audio and video information that has the characteristics of continuous traffic requires the paradigm shift of solution, contrary to the traditional solution of discrete traffic. This paper presents the necessity for multimedia communication, and then studies the characteristics and requirements of multimedia traffics. We finally present a survey on research issues and standardization trends of multimedia communication protocols.
