        Rooted cuttings of Quercus acutissima by media and rooting substances

        For the development of the vegetative propagation by cuttings with superior phenotypes of Quercus acutissima, the effect of media containing various rooting substances(IBA, NAA, IAA, Sucrose, Captan and Talc.), the difference between sprout and normal branches of seedling, the position effect of cutting, seasonal variation, the difference between out-door seedling and greenhouse seedling, ortet age effect, upon the rootability and the development of root system using 1 to 3-year-old seedlings have been investigated. The obtained results were as follows 1. Survival., rooting, primary root number and primary root length of cuttings showed significant differences among the media containing rooting substances. 2. Sprout showed better rooting ability than the normal t~ranch of seedling and the number of the primary roots was abundant, too. 3. Rooting eras better on V/PL and P/V media bed than any other tested ones when media without growth substances were experimented while callus ball formation was vigorous under the part of cuttings on the medium containing perlite. 4. Basal part had slightly better rooting ability than top part with apical bud for cutting`s position. 5. Rootability was varied greatly by seasons of cutting collection. The best rooting was observed in the mid-June with semi-hard wood, after first growing season. 6. Greenhouse seedlings hadmore numbers of the primary root and rooted more readily than nurserybed seedlings. 7. The most significant difference in rooting ability was observed between the ortet ages, 58.3% and 84.4% for 1 and 3 year orter, respectively.

      • Open - pollinated progeny test of loblolly pine ( Pinus taeda L . ) growing in Gwang Yang plantation

        우리나라에서 唯一하게 育種資料로 利用하고 있는 全南 光陽 테다소나무 集團의 遺傳變異를 推定하기 爲하여 木 集團에서 選拔한 21家系의 風媒次代를 全北 完州 및 全南 寶城에 植栽하고 7年生次代들의 活着率과 生長, 가지 特性, 樹幹型 및 比重 等 8個 特性에 대하여 遺傳變異, 遺傳力, 遺傳獲得量을 調査하였다. 1) 一般的으로 家系間 遺傳變異가 크지 않았으며 活着率, 通直性을 除外하고 家系間 統計的 有意性이 나타나지 않았다. 2) 個體木 遺傳力은 活着率이 0.70으로 第一 높았으며, 그 다음이 通直性으로 0.42를 나타냈다. 樹高와 根部直徑은 普通의 遺傳力 (h² = 0.25-0.16)을 나타냈으며 樹冠半徑, 마디數 및 木材比重은 遺傳力이 나타나지 않았다. 3) 이들 特性에 대해 가장 좋은 個體 10%만을 選拔했을 境遇 얻어지는 遺傳力 獲得은 活着率이 52.9%, 樹高 6.4%, 根部直徑 5.5%로 이들 7年生 平均에 대해 얻을 수 있는 改良程度는 活着率이 31.7%, 樹高 18㎝, 根部直徑 3.1㎜로 豫測되었다. 4) 選拔木과 次代의 特性相關은 選拔木의 通直性과 次代의 通直性間에서만 5%의 有意的인 相關이 나타났다.

        Pinus thunbergii × P . massoniana F1 교잡종 (交雜種) 유묘의 (幼苗) 특성

        Pinus thunbergii × P, massoniana F₁ hybrids were made by pollinating 15 years old Japanese black pine (P. thunbergii) with Masson pine (P. massoniana) pollen, air-shipped from Taiwan. The crossability between two species were observed. Seedling height, morphological characteristics, and the composition of plhenolic compounds of these hybrids and the open-pollinated progenies of P. thunbergii were investigated. The results of the observation were as follows; 1) Number of the hybrid seeds per cone was 2.3, while open-pollinated Japanese black pine produced 26 seeds per cone. 2) All hybrid seedlings outgrew P. thunbergii, averaging 151% of mean height of Japanese black pine seedlings. The growth of hybrids was much variable, ranging from 120% to 208% of mean height of the open-pollinated progenies of P. thunbergii. 3) With regard to needle characteristics, the hybrid needles were longer and softer than those of P. thunbergii. The color of hybrid needles showed yellowish green. The positions of resin ducts in P. thunbergii observed medial, while those of hybrids showed medial and external. 4) No large difference in phenolic compound composition between hybrid and P. thunbergii was found, but phenolic compound of unknown 4 and 6 were observed only in hybrid. Further intensive work is recommended in this area.

        Pinus thunbergii×P. massoniana F<sub>1</sub> 교잡종(交雜種) 유묘(幼苗)의 특성(特性)

        Pinus thunbergii를 교배모수(交配母樹)로 하고 대만(台灣)으로부터 도입(導入)된 P. massoniana 화분(花粉)으로 인공교배(人工交配)한 교잡종(交雜種)과 그의 모수(母樹) 풍매차대(風媒次代)들에 대(對)한 충실종자생산(充實種子生産), 생장(生長), 외부형태학적(外部形態學的) 특성(特性) 및 Phenol 물질함량(物質含量)을 조사(調査)하였다. 1) 구과당(毬果當) 충실종자(充實種子) 생산량(生産量)은 교잡종(交雜種)이 평균(平均) 2.3립(粒)으로 풍매(風媒) 26립(粒)에 비(比)하여 저조(低調)하였다. 2) 유묘시(幼苗時) 묘고생장(苗高生長)은 교잡종(交雜種)이 풍매차대(風媒次代)에 비(比)해 평균(平均) 151%로 우수(優秀)하였으며 120~208%의 변이(變異)를 나타냈다. 3) 침엽(針葉)의 외부형태학적(外部形態學的) 특성(特性)은 교잡종(交雜種)이 풍매차대묘(風媒次代苗)에 비(比)하여 침엽(針葉)이 부드럽고, 연(軟)하고, 길며, 연록색(軟綠色)을 나타내고 해부형태(解剖形態)에 있어서는 수지구(樹脂溝)의 위치(位置)가 P. thunbergii 풍매차대(風媒次代)는 중위(中位)인데 비(比)하여 교잡종(交雜種)들은 중위(中位)와 외위(外位)가 동시(同時)에 나타났다. 4) Phenol 물질분석(物質分析)에 있어서는 교잡종(交雜種)과 P. thunbergii 풍매차대간(風媒次代間)에 뚜렷한 차이(差異)가 없었으나 Unknown 4와 6의 물질(物質)이 교잡종(交雜種)에만 나타난 사실(事實)은 특이(特異)하나 이것이 화분수(花粉樹)에서 유래(由來)된 것인지의 여부(與否)는 좀 더 구명(究明)되어야 할 과제(課題)이다.         리기테다 수형목 (秀型木) 차대들의 내한성에 (耐寒性) 대한 선발

        One-year-old seedlings of open-pollinated progenies of pitch-loblolly hybrid pine plus trees were selected for cold-hardiness during cold winter of 1983-1984. Survived trees were planted in three locations. Two years later, the ratio of cold-damaged trees and 3rd year heights were recorded. The ratio of the, cold-damage trees among screened progenies were 5.6% in Kyunggi and 22.6% in Chungnam, while 9.3% and 43.3%, respectively, in unscreened control plot. Severely damaged families at one-year-old seedling stage also suffered heavy cold damage after two years. Not much differences were observed between families in 3rd year height.

        왜성사과나무의 고밀식재배법은 우리나라 농가의 부족한 노동력 문제를 해결할 수 있는 새로운 사과나무 재배법으로 각광받고 있다. 그러나 왜성사과나무로 개식하는데 따른 사전 지식 없이 개식을 하게 되면, 뜻하지 않은 개식 장해에 의해 피해를 입을 수 있다. 특히 농산물 수입의 전면 개방화를 앞두고, 따라서 철저한 준비에 이은 왜성사과나무 조성으로 수입과일에 대한 경쟁력을 갖추도록 하여야 할 것이다.
