The Choice of Mode for International Strategic Combinations: A Critical Review and Research Proposal

In this paper, we critically review the literature on firm’s mode choice for international strategic combinations. From the review, we identify both ‘MNC’s intangible resource’ and ‘MNC’s need for resource from local firm’ as key theoretical constructs. Potential theoretical relationships involving the two constructs are further explored, and research avenues to overcome some of the existing theoretical deficiencies are suggested. Noting strong empirical inconclusiveness in the findings among different studies, we identify areas of improvement with respect to measurement and research design for future research.

본 연구는 향후 한국영화의 주요 수출시장으로 부각할 수 있는 중국영화산업을 분석한다. 중국영화산업의 영역별 분석에 이어 지금까지 진출한 한국영화의 중국내 성과를 분석하고 성과에 영향을 미치는 원인들을 도출한다. 이러한 산업구조 및 성과 분석의 결과를 토대로 국제경영학 연구와 관련하여 글로벌 경쟁력, 글로벌 지향성 등 기존의 대표적 이론들의 문화산업 적용가능성 및 문화산업 글로벌화와 관련된 향후 중요시 되는 연구 방향을 구체화한다. 또한 영화업계의 중국 진출 전략과 정부지원정책 차원에서 실무적인 시사점을 제시한다. This study analyzes the structure of Chinese movie industry and the performance of Korean films exported to Chinese market. Chinese government's protective policies with respect to import quota, censorship on film contents, and restrictive distribution systems are identified as major entry barriers. Furthermore, the mismatch between the content profiles of Korean films exported and Chinese customers' preferences and movie-going patterns is viewed as an important area where Korean films' contents positioning strategy has to be reconfigured for future global success. Several lines of research agenda in international business discipline are developed based on the key findings of the study.

It seems that it is critical to comprehend mathematics as a tool subject in order to understand a number of calculations in the professional subjects in the vocational high schools. This study is designed to determine "how much mathematics is connected to specialized subjects in terms of mathematical content at vocational high schools". To investigate the research questions, this study examined the connections between the mathematical topics included in professional subjects and those of mathematics subjects in the vocational high school. In the end, this study suggest that is should be necessary to make new mathematics textbook which reflects the reality and needs of the present vocational high school students.

While the concept of productivity has been defined at various levels of organizations (i.e.at the levels of individual, team, department or division, firm, geographic region and evencountry), and also the areas of productivity concerns vary to a great extent, ranging from bank tellers’ customer interface efficiency to agricultural input-output efficiency of a country, a review of the productivity literature suggests that there has been no substantial research efforts so far in defining and investigating the productivity in strategy-making in corporate settings. Motivated by the research need to redress this gap in the literature, this paper first defines productivity in strategy-making based on the extant literature of strategy and organizational theory, and then identifies the antecedents of such productivity in strategy-making by focusing on the constructs pertaining to CEO characteristics. By inferring from various studies on entrepreneurship and strategy, we propose a model where CEO’s entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and human capital affect firm’s strategy-making productivity. An empirical test of the strategy-making productivity model was conducted on a sample of newly founded firms within Korean game development industry. Test results showed that CEO’s EO influenced positively the strategic productivity i.e. the entry into new product lines and the entry into foreign markets. However, no significant support was found for the role of CEO’s human capital in increasing strategy-making productivity. Interactive terms between EO and human capital did not show any significant effects on the strategy-making productivity. Finally, the limitations and future research directions are discussed.
싱글 슬로프 비트 이동 방법을 사용한 12~14-bit 재구성 가능 SAR-SS 하이브리드 ADC 설계

본 논문은 생체 전기 신호 처리를 위한 저전력 고해상도의 재구성 가능한 하이브리드 ADC를 제안한다. 제안하는 ADC는 최상위비트(MSB)를 처리하는 SAR ADC와 최하위 비트(LSB)를 처리하는 싱글 슬로프 ADC로 구성되어 있다. 싱글 슬로프 ADC의 해상도에 따라 기하급수적으로 증가하는 샘플링 속도 문제를 해결하기 위해, SAR ADC는 8~10비트로 재구성 가능하도록 설계되었으며,싱글 슬로프 ADC는 4비트 해상도로 구성되었다. 이러한 해상도 재구성을 위해, 싱글 슬로프 ADC의 4비트 디지털 코드를 SARADC의 해상도에 맞추기 위해 비트 이동 연산을 수행하는 비트 이동 방식을 구현하였다. 제안된 ADC는 CMOS 28nm 1-poly8-metal 공정을 사용하여 설계되었으며, 레이아웃 면적은 1180um × 550um이다. 시뮬레이션 결과에서 전력 소모는 32.7uW로,이는 아날로그 전력 24.8uW와 디지털 전력 7.9uW를 포함한다. INL/DNL은 각각 ±1.5LSB / ±1.5LSB이다. ENoB와 FoM은 각각 11.9비트와 25.6fJ/step으로 측정되었다.

This study investigates the recent development of modern retail industry of India, a country under spotlight as the major engine for world economic growth in the coming decades. India`s retail landscape is going through a rapid change, from mostly traditional mom-and-pop stores to modernized discount stores, western-style shopping malls and glamorous department stores. While the change has been brought about largely by Indian conglomerates such as Tata, RPG and Pantaloon so far, global retailers like Wal-Mart and Metro are also making their best efforts to enter into this one of the largest, albeit under-developed, consumer market in the world. Considering the significant effects this retail modernization will have on the consumer frenzy and overall economic vitality of India, it seems imperative to systematically analyze the drivers for India`s modern retail growth and carefully assess the sustainability of such growth over time. Taking an interdisciplinary perspective including business strategy, marketing, industrial organization economics, and area studies, I identify the conditions that foster or inhibit the Indian modern retail growth, and project future growth scenarios.
