The concrete structures in marine environment has been used type V cement(sulfate-resisting Portland cement), but according to the study results reported recently, the question has been raised for effect of the resistance to salt attack of the concrete using type V cement. It is increased the demands on the use of mineral admixtures such as fly ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag instead of type V cement in order to improve the durability of concrete structures. This study is to investigate the durability of concretes containing fly ash. the test was carried on salt attack, carbonation, sulfate attack, and porosity analysis test. Test results showed that the resistance to salt attack, sulfate attack and pore volume was decreased, and the carbonation was in some disadvantage compared with normal concrete. But if it is used the concrete with high strength or low water-powder ratio, the concrete have not problem on the durability.
Since many of these structures were built before 1980's, these are either already repaired or to be repaired. Current safety assessments on these structures have confirmed that a large number of RC structures need maintenance, repairs and retrofit works. The factors considered in deterioration of RC structures may take several forms, which include the chloride corrosion, carbonation. alkali aggregate reaction and abrasion. Deterioration in RC structures is a problem, in which many agencies are involved. However, it use without verification for the foreign test method and standard of repair materials in Korea. Therefore, this study is investigated for adhesive strength repair materials in view of durability as a study to enact test method and standard of qualities for repair materials taking into consideration of Korea situation.
