버들치(Phoxinus oxycephalus) 仔稚魚의 골격 발달

Twenty individuals of the Phoxinus oxycephalus (Sauvage et Dabry) were caught in Kyeongho River, Kyeongsangnam-do and were reared in the laboratory. During the rearing, they spawned 5 times in April, 1998, and their larvae and juveniles were reared. The osteological development of Phoxinus oxycephalus was studied based on them. At the cranium, parasphenoid was firstly ossified in the larvae (6 days after hatching), mean 6.44㎜ in total length (TL), and ossification of the cranium was completed in the juveniles (80 days after hatching), means 18.76㎜ in TL. At the visceral, opercle and dentary were firstly ossified in the larvae (13 days after hatching), mean 6.82㎜ in TL, and ossification of the visceral was completed in the juveniles (80 days after hatching). The ossification of the vertebral columns began posteriorly and was completed in the juveniles (80 days after hatching). The caudal skeleton was firstly ossified in the larvae (16 days after hatching), mean 7.02㎜ in TL and comleted in the larvae (44 days after hatching), 13.72㎜ in TL.

This study was conducted to observe the spawning behavior and early life history of chinese minnow, Rhynchocypris oxycephalus reared in the laboratory. The spawning period of Rhynchocypris oxycephalus is from May to June in nature. The eggs of Rhynchocypris oxycephalus were spawned on the sand and surface of the gravel. The fertilization eggs were demersal in shape and adhesive, released as a clump forming a thin layer and their diameter were 1.70∼1.90㎜ (mean 1.80㎜, n=20). Hatching of eggs was started in 88 hour 45 minute after fertilization at water temperature 19±0.5℃ and finished in 90 hour. Newly-hatched larvae were measured 4.87∼5.02㎜ in total length(TL, mean 4.94㎜), mouth and anus were not opened. 6 days old larvae were 6.32∼6.56㎜ in TL(mean 6.44㎜). Yolk sac was almost absorbed, mouth and anus was began to open. 13 days old larvae were 6.74∼6.91㎜ in TL(mean 6.82㎜). Part of Dorsal fin was began to rising and myomere number was 15+23=38. 25 days after hatching, total length of larvae was 8.45∼8.60㎜(mean 8.52㎜). Dorsal and anal fin rays became differentiated, and also caudal part of the notocord flexion was achieved at 45°. In the time, growth rate was higher than the other stage. Aggregate numbers of all fin rays were completed at 16.39∼16.57㎜ in TL(60 days after hatching), at which time the larvae reached the juvenile stage, but fin-fold on ventral was remained yet. External features of adult specimens were almost completed at 80 day old juveniles(18.69∼18.87㎜ in TL).

The purpose of the present study was to describe the morphological and skeletal development of the larvae and juvenile of Ilisha elongata(Bennett). The larvae(mean 5.02㎜ in total length, TL) opened the mouth and anus with 36∼38+15∼16=51∼54 myotomes, and anus located about 73.0% of TL. The clavicle of shoulder girdle was ossified. The larvae(mean 7.82㎜ in TL) have all fin-fold differentiated and its caudal notochord began to flex. Parasphenoid of cranium and dentary of the lower jaw were ossified. The caudal notochord of the larva(mean 9.84㎜) was flexed 45°, and anus located about 67.0% of TL. The body height of the larvae(mean 23.32㎜ in TL) were 18.0∼20.0% of TL, and the aggregate numbers of all fin rays were completed. Ossification was completed in the larva of mean 26.52㎜ in TL.
