        영어 듣기수업에서 받아쓰기에 대한 대학생들의 태도와 인식

        This study was designed to identify students' perceptions and attitudes towards dictation practice in English listening classes and investigate the relationships among 5 factors with regard to dictation practice: participation, usefulness, interest, motivation, and confidence. For the study, the research was implemented for 15 weeks with 41 Korean university students. The subjects had dictation practice in their English listening classes on a regular basis for one semester. At the end of the semester, a questionnaire was used to find out students' perceptions and attitudes towards dictation practice. For the analysis of the subject's responses, first, a descriptive analysis was administered. After that, a correlation analysis was done to explore what the relations among 5 factors were. Results indicated that most students actively participated in the class, and they regarded dictation as a very useful practice in their listening classes. Also, the dictation practice motivated students not only for English listening but also for overall English studying. However, more than two third students showed low interest and confidence in the class. As for the correlations among 5 factors, there were very strong correlations between usefulness and motivation, usefulness and confidence, interest and motivation, interest and confidence, and confidence and motivation. Based on the results, some implications were presented and some guidelines for effective dictation practice were suggested.

        학술지 영어어문교육 창간 20주년을 통해 본 영어교육에서의 교수매체 연구 동향

        This study aimed to present research trends in instructional media for English education over the past 20 years on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of The English Teachers Association in Korea. For this, all papers in the journal of English Language & Literature Teaching published within the years 1995 to 2013 were reviewed. As a result, it was found that a total of 94 instructional media-related papers out of 663 were issued. These 94 papers were analyzed in terms of four perspectives for the purpose of research questions; 1) publication rate of instructional media-related papers, 2) types of instructional media, 3) research subject, and 4) research methodology. The results showed that publication rate of instructional media-related papers 14.2%, and traditional instructional media (27.1%) have been decreasing gradually while new media (67%) are playing a large role in English teaching. Among them, a half of instructional media-related papers were connected with Internet. As for research subject, university students (49.9%) ranked first. Concerning methodology, quantitative methods (80.7%) had been conducted far more than qualitative ones (19.3%). On the basis of the results, the study provided suggestions for future research directions regarding instructional media in English education, and the roles of English Language & Literature Teaching were presented.

        코로나 19 상황에서의 온라인 영어 읽기와 쓰기 수업에 대한 대학생들의 인식과 태도

        This study paid attention to the characteristics of online classes under the COVID-19 pandemic and was designed to find out the responses of students to online classes conducted in 2021. Ahead of the return from online classes to face-to-face classes, it aims to reflect on students’ attitudes and perceptions of online classes and present discussions on post-COVID-19 classes by examining the degree of satisfaction of students in English reading and writing classes. In order to achieve this, the research was implemented for 15 weeks with 394 university students. The research questions set up for the research purpose are as follows: in online English reading and writing classes, what is the interaction 1) between learners and instructors?, 2) between the learner and the teaching content?, 3) between learners?, 4) between the learner and the system? and finally, what is the satisfaction level with English reading and writing learning? On the whole, students responded positively to online English reading and writing classes, but there was a high negative perception of the communication aspect. Base on the results, some suggestions are made, and discussion points for English reading and writing classes post COVID-19 were proposed.

        교양영어 TOEIC 수업에서 수준별 학습자의 토익에 대한 인식과 태도

        TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is used as an important criterion to meet graduation requirements, and to get into government organizations and major companies these days. Under the circumstances, Korean universities need to help their students improve their TOEIC scores. As part of these efforts, this study was designed to find out the perceptions and attitudes of Korean university students towards TOEIC, and understand the relationships between those and their TOEIC scores. For the purpose of the study, a set of questionnaire was used to collect the data. The research was implemented for 16 weeks with 99 university students. These students were divided into two groups according to their TOEIC scores: one group with the TOEIC scores above 500 and the other with the scores below 500. The results showed that there were statistical differences in four categories between the two groups; perceptions of TOEIC, interests in TOEIC, self assessment of TOEIC, and strategies for TOEIC. However, there were no statistical differences in two categories between these groups; perceptions of TOEIC score and their efforts to improve their TOEIC scores. According to the results, this study suggested some meaningful implications for University TOEIC classes.

        한국산 천연 광물 부석 파우더 코팅 및 특성에 관한 연구

        이 연구는 경상북도 봉화지역에서 매장된 천연 광물을 이용하여 화장료용의 분체로써 활용가치를 부여한 코팅 방법에 관한 것이다. 이 광물의 이름은 부석이라고 칭하며, 미립자 파우더를 개발하여 이 파우더의 성능을 평가하고 화장품의 효능적 가치가 있는 가에 대하여 연구한 결과를 보고한다. 이 파우더의 표면에 오일을 코팅하기 위하여 미립자 표면에 알루미늄하이드록사이드를 1차 코팅한 후에 여기에 알킬실란으로 코팅하였다. 또한, 식물성 오일로 코팅하여 파우더의 응집을 막고, 오일상에서의 분산성을 높일 수 있도록 하였다. 첫째; 부석파우더의 입자는 $10{\sim}50{\mu}m$의 입자를 가지고 있었으며, 입자의 표면에 다공성의 구멍이 있었다. 둘째; 이 파우더의 구성성분은 $SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$, MgO, CaO, $K_2O_2$, $Na_2O$, $TiO_2$, $TiO_2$, MnO, $Cr_2O_3$, $V_2O_5$ 등을 함유하였다. 셋째: 이 파우더의 입자는 판상형 구조를 가지며, 다공성으로 적갈색을 가지고 있음을 SEM과 TEM 분석을 통하여 알 수 있었다. 넷째; 이부석 파우더의 원적외선 방사율은 $0.924{\mu}m$이었으며, 방사에너지는 $3.72{\times}10^W/m^2{\cdot}{\mu}m$ 이었다. 또한 음이온 방출량은 128 ION/cc를 방출하는 것으로써, 코팅을 하더라도 변하지 않고 그대로 그 성능이 유지되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 화장품의 응용분야로써 비비크림, 쿠션파운데이션, 파우더펙트 등의 색조화장품, 선블록크림, 워시오프 마사지팩 등의 기초 화장료에 폭넓게 응용이 가능할 것으로 기대한다. This study is based on a coating method that provides utilization value as a micronised powder for cosmetic raw materials using natural minerals buried in Bonghwa, Gyeongsangbuk-do in Korea. The mineral powder name is called Buseok, and chemical name is pumice powder. The results of a study on the efficacy of cosmetics are reported by the development of particulate powder to assess the performance of this powder. First of all, in order to coat the surface of this powder with oil, aluminum hydroxide was coated on the particulate surface and then coated with alkylsilan. In addition, it was coated with vegetable oil to prevent condensation of the powder and increase the dispersion in the oil phase. First; the particle size of pumice powder was from 10 to 50mm having porous holes on the surface of the particles. Second; The components of this powder contained $SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$, MgO, CaO, $K_2O_2$, $Na_2O$, $TiO_2$, $TiO_2$, MnO, $Cr_2O_3$, $V_2O_5$. Third: The particles of this powder have a planetary structure and are reddish-brown with porosity through SEM and TEM analysis. Fourth; the far-infrared radiation rate of this parabolic powder was $0.924{\mu}m$, and the radiative energy was $3.72{\times}102W/m^2$ and ${\mu}m$. In addition, the anion emission is 128 ION/cc, which shows that the coating remains unchanged. Based on these results, it is expected to be widely applied to basic cosmetics such as BB cream, cushion foundation, powderfect, and other color-coordinated cosmetics, sunblock cream, wash-off massage pack as an application of cosmetics.         대학 교양영어 수업에서 웹 기반 문화교육에 의한 학습 효과

        The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of culture teaching and using web sites as a method of culture teaching in college English education. To achieve these purposes, a web-based culture teaching-learning model was developed and applied in English classes. Then, the effects were compared with those of a culture teaching method which were based on the traditional verbal explanation. As the tools for this study, two test sheets were used to measure language proficiency and American cultural knowledge. Focusing on the study results, the conclusions were summed up as follows: First, for enhancing the American cultural knowledge, using the web was found to be more effective than traditional verbal explanations. Second, for English language enhancement through web-based culture teaching, it is necessary to do it for each level of English proficiency or develop web sites which fit well with students' interests or levels.

      • 중학교 1학년 영어교과서 문화내용 분석에 따른 모형 연구

        The purposes of this study were to examine the appropriateness of the cultural contents involved in the 1st grade of middle school English textbooks, and to make English education more effective in promoting a model for English-American cultural understanding. Language and culture are inseparably related. We can't fully understand or use properly a foreign language without understanding of a country's culture which the language is spoken. When it comes to culturaㅣ understanding, it is best to live in the target county. But it is impossible for most Korean students, for that reason cultural education should be s substitute as indirect experience in classroom English. Under the present conditions, it is necessary to analyze the cultural contents of the textbooks that have absolute Anglo-American influence upon English education. The subjects of this analysis were the current 13 textbooks of the lst grade of middle school. All these textbooks were analyzed lesson by lesson. And the analysis of cultural contents reflected in the textbooks was carried out by two methods: One was made by cultural patterns based on Ogsbum, Soroskin, and Biersted’s theories which are spiritual, behavioral, and material culture. The other is made by nationality of the cultural background which is Korean, Korean-English, English-American, or universal background. The results of the analysis were as follows: First, the aspect of cultural patterns was ill-balanced. So, mort various cultural patterns are needed to be included in the textbooks. Second, the aspect of the cultural background was found very inappropriate. English-American background that is the fundamental basis of English was just 5%. This result shows the current textbooks have been not teaching English-American cultural background. A complete view of taking these findings into consideration, I drew up a model accompanied with cultural understanding, and the teacher's guide includes cultural teaching methods.
