본 연구는 근대화가 범죄피해에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 탐구하였다. 국가의 교육수준, 보건수준, 경제수준 등 근대화 지표가 범죄에 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 근대화이론을 기반으로 연구를 전개하였으며, 연구의 목적은 범죄피해에 있어서 국가수준의 영향요인을 탐구하여 범죄예방을 위한 국가수준의 지표를 고려한 전략을 모색해 보고자 하는 것이다. 국제범죄피해조사, 인간개발지수, 유엔마약범죄사무국 자료 등을 통합하여 활용하였으며 위계선형모형분석을 통해 국가수준의 범죄피해요인을 찾아보고자 시도하였다. 즉, 24개 국가 32,816명에 대한 설문자료와 국가수준의 근대화 지표를 연결한 데이터를 분석한 것이다. 본 연구는 분석결과를 통해 몇몇 근대화 지표가 일부 범죄에 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인함으로써 근대화이론을 부분적으로 지지하였다. 그러나 이러한 변인들이 강력범죄에는 영향을 미치지는 못하였는데 이러한 결과는 근대화이론의 가정과 어긋나는 측면이 있었다. 즉, 범죄를 강력범죄, 재산범죄, 총범죄로 구분하여 분석한 결과 국가수준 변인이 강력범죄에 미치는 영향은 크지 않은 반면, 재산범죄와 총범죄에 미치는 영향은 통계적으로 주목할 만한 수준이었다. 특히 국가수준의 교육발달의 수준과 살인율이 재산범죄와 총범죄에 영향을 미치는 통계적인 유의성을 발견할 수 있었다. 근대화 과정을 거쳐 고도성장을 꾀하고 있는 우리나라에 본 연구의 결과가 갖는 시사점은 국가수준의 교육발달 정도와 살인율에 영향을 주는 교육정책과 범죄정책이 각각 다른 목적으로 시행되지만 시민들의 범죄피해에 직ㆍ간접적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점을 고려할 필요가 있다는 것이다. 국가 간 거시지표를 범죄피해의 요인으로 지목하여 검증해 보고자 시도하였다는데 본 연구의 의의가 있다. This study examined the effect of the level of modernization or development on criminal victimization. Modernization theory is used as its theoretical background as the level of education, health, and economy of a nation may influence the level of crime. The purpose of this study is to investigate nation level factors of criminal victimization and help find strategies to solve crime problems. This study used multi-level analysis. Data were drawn from the International Crime Victim Survey(ICVS), Human Development Index(HDI), and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC) and were combined for HLM analyses. The sample was 32,816 citizens nested in 24 countries. The effect of the country-level variables on criminal victimization was very low for violence victimization but high for property and total victimizations. In general, country-level variables that were statistically significant were education development and homicide rates. They had significant effects on property and total victimizations. This study partially supports the modernization theory in that modernization based variables had significant effects on property and total crime victimization. The findings on the victimization of violent crime, however, were quite unlike what was theoretically expected. Policies based on modernization perspectives were suggested based on the findings.

This study is to explore a way to publish an unprecedented Korea Literature Map by associating Literature studies with Literary scene. Literature Map is not a thing that just presents the birthplace and burial ground of the writers or the locations of Literary monuments. Literature Map introduces and records detailed description of the writers including not only the birthplace, where they are buried but also the influential factors they experienced in their hometown, their home environment, relationships with friends and the backgrounds. Therefore, Literature Map differs from Literary travelogue since it requires the harmony of research and investigation which include careful investigation and review of the writer and their works. In this study, we took a close look to find a new method of drawing out DaejeonChungnam Literature Map which is a separated section of Korea Literature Map. To publish DaejeonChungnam Literature Map in a systematic and fashionable way, first, publishing committee must be organized. Second, research and investigation should be accomplished by region. Third, thorough review of the collected data is necessary. Finally, drawing out the memory of the bereaved and friends by sorting out appropriate inquiries and getting help from public offices(city hall/county office, cultural center) is the key to accomplish a proper DaejeonChungnam Literature Map .
