기술혁신상의 사용자와 재조업자의 상호작용에 관한 연구 : 반도체 검사장비 산업을 중심으로

우리나라의 반도체 산업은 지난 10여 년 간 놀랄만한 성장을 보여왔다. 이토록 경이적인 성장을 보인 동인은 무엇일까? 본 연구자는 국내 반도체 소자업체의 적극적인 공정혁신 노력과 이를 뒷받침하기 위한 반도체 장비업체의 부단한 제품혁신 노력, 그리고 양자의 기술혁신을 극대화하기 위한 장비 사용자와 제조업자의 상호 호혜적인 상호작용노력에서 그 해답을 찾고자 한다. 본 연구는 사용자와 제조업자의 상호작용이 양자의 기술혁신에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대하여 종단적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 연구방법으로는 2차자료와 인터뷰를 활용하는 정성적 방법을 활용하였으며, 연구대상으로는 국내의 반도체 검사장비 (핸들러)산업을 선정하였다. 먼저 사용자 주도관점에 대한 이론을 고찰해 보고, 국내 반도체 검사장비(핸들러) 혁신상의 사용자와 제조업자의 상호작용 사례를 살펴본 후, 마지막으로 본 연구의 시사점 및 한계를 논하고자 한다. Korea's semiconductor industry has achieved phenomenal growth for the past 10 years. Then, what are the contributory factors behind the growth? The paper attributes this success to the strenuous effort of process innovation from Korea's semiconductor manufacturers, the active effort of product innovation from semiconductor equipment manufacturers, and the reciprocal effort between semiconductor manufacturers and semiconductor equipment manufacturers for their own technological innovation. The paper aims to investigate how the interaction of between users and manufacturers can influence their own technological innovation. To this end, the paper conducted a qualitative approach using secondary data and interviews, and chose a domestic semiconductor inspection equipment (i.e. handler) company. This paper first reviews customeractive paradigm and then, as a case in point, analyse the case of interaction between users and manufacturers in the Korean semiconductor inspection equipment industry; and finally, followed by discussing the implications and limitations of the study.

최근 몇몇 연구자들에 의해 지리적 혁신클러스터의 한계가 언급되기 시작하고 있다. 그리고 정보통신기술이 발전함에 따라 이에 대한 대안으로 가상 혁신클러스터의 개념이 등장하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지리적 혁신클러스터의 한계를 탐색적으로 검증해 보고 대안으로 가상 혁신클러스터의 적용가능성을 검토해 보았다. 본 연구에서 살펴 본 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지리적 혁신클러스터의 한계와 문제점은 무엇인가, 둘째, 지리적 혁신클러스터의 한계는 가상 혁신클러스터를 통해 보완가능한가, 셋째, 가상 혁신클러스터의 효과적인 활용을 위한 과제는 무엇인가. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 문헌고찰, 설문분석, 사례연구, 전문가 인터뷰 등 다양한 방법론을 활용하였다. 특히, 지리적 혁신클러스터의 한계를 탐색적으로 검토하기 위해 설문조사를 실시하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의와 한계를 제시하였다. Recently some researchers started to discuss the fundamental limitations of geographical innovation clusters. With the rapid development of information and telecommunication technologies, a new concept of virtual innovation cluster is emerging in the advanced countries an alternative to overcome the limitations of geographical clusters. In this context, this study is designed as a pilot study to verify limitations of and issues with geographical innovation cluster through a survey and review the possible application of virtual innovation cluster as an alternative to geographical innovation cluster. Topics covered in this study include; 1) What are the limitations and/or issues with geographical clusters? 2) Can these limitations of and issues with geographical innovation cluster be overcome with virtual innovation cluster? 3) What is the government policy direction to ensure effective utilization of virtual innovation clusters? To answer these questions, this study adopted various research techniques including literature reviews, surveys, case studies, and expert interviews. Especially, a survey was conducted to diagnose the limitations of geographical innovation cluster policy and to understand the possibility of applying virtual innovation clusters. Finally, the significances and limitations of the study are discussed.
