This study has been performed to come up with any rational way for responding to the functions of fire-fighting spaces newly required by the changing social paradigms and to seek for the approach to designing fire-fighting spaces by taking into account the psychological and behavioral factors of fire-fighters who are exposed stress of operations. In particular, it is to satisfy any physical and functional requirements as special working-spaces and to reflect the psychological and behavioral approach to the workers who are forced to be at standby for a long time, which is the characteristic of their operation, to designing. Accordingly, for fundamental appreciation of whether or not such space programs as space organization needed for operational function are being practiced actively, the fire-fighting headquarters of Incheon City has been selected for the research. First, in the process of assessing the trend of organizing the space at safety centers for the recent 20 years, those built more than 20 years ago were left out from the space selection for the research. Second, those with less than 20 operators also were excluded. Third, among those completed in the same year, only one was selected, which was to avoid overlapping, with the consideration its regional representative nature for applying the safety centers in the jurisdiction of the headquarters equally. The study was performed through the visits to and the actual inspections by surveys at the selected 119 Safety Centers as well as the reviews of literature based on case studies. And for the assessment of significance, surveys and analysis of reliability and factors were carried out. The actual users of Safety Centers were picked as objects for the assessment of significance of space factors at 119 Safety Centers, which revealed that there are five types of dimensions for factor-analyzing standard with which users estimate any significance, which are “Area of Mobilization Preparation and Return” “Area of Standby” “Area of Working Activities” “Area of Employ Welfare” and “Area of Support”

The village office in the past was recognized as a simple space for administrative services. Along with the "government"s transforming policy of village office", it is being changed to an complex facility playing a role for the welfare and cultural enhancement of inhabitants under the name of Inhabitant Self-Government Center. However, unlikely from the integrated programs, the interior space of Inhabitant Self-Government Center is still in transitional period because of its simple configuration. This research purports to investigate the interior space in the perspective of program integration to solve this problem. The result shows that the existing vertical configuration method of program was diversified into horizontal and vertical method, and the inflexible existing interior space is required to be flexible and variable. This research aims to realize new space of Inhabitant Self-Government Center which will match with the features of program integration based on the issues found by analysis on its spatial characteristics by program integration.

Due to recent change in fire stations, this study aims to propose improved directions for planning of 119 rescue centers through its analysis of spatial organization and characteristics by functional area based in case studies of new-design centers. The Korean 119 rescue centers have changed in terms of function and roles in line with the flow of changing social environments, so it has been required to give new spatial change to these centers. It"s meant in this study to classify compulsory special service spaces for the 119 rescue centers by domain and to suggest design guidelines for each type of spaces. Eight case of recue centers that were newly built in and after 2008 were selected and analyzed to serve the purpose. Finally, the results of this study were as followed: First, each of the rescue centers is divided into several domain depending on the type of work, and there are meaningful characteristics in the vertical and horizontal spatial layout of the individual spaces. Second, there are specific differences among the spaces in the spatial occupation percentage. The percentage of the space for community service is obviously lower in the 119 rescue centers in Seoul than in Incheon. Third, the domain classification criteria of this study are selected based on earlier studies, and another space for community service is newly added as a result of making a case study.

We have introduced natural elements to our daily or non-daily spaces so as to keep our composure in our rapid economic growth, urbanization and hectic lives. For those who have wanted to escape from their pressing lives, there has been an increase in the active use of natural elements, specifically water, in a space. The harmony between water as a natural element and space as an artificial entity could be transformed while connecting the artificial with part of nature. Besides, water has a benefit of being used in a very diverse form and characteristics of modifying the atmosphere of space by interacting with people"s senses of vision, hearing and smell in architectural space. Especially, there has been a trend of applying water space to food and beverage space among commercial spaces, thus creating pleasant and unexpected space and letting customers enjoy an experience of escaping from their daily lives during their meal time. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the components, exhibition techniques & expression traits that would create water space introduced to the interiors of modern food and beverage space and to examine how the efficient exhibition of water space could be applied to the interior space. Namely, based on the analyzed results, it was aimed to deduce the techniques that could be exhibited when adopting water space into the interiors and to find out how it could be actively introduced in food and beverage space.
