N/A The object of this study was to confirm and purify antibacterial agents from the fermented cracked pollen with Lactobacillus plantarum R. The antibacterial activity according to the level of the concentration of the fermented cracked pollen showed the highest(22.7 ㎜) inhibition zone at 30% concentration. The cracked pollen neutralized with NaOH presented higher antibacterial activity than that of the non-neutralized one. The fermented cracked pollen added with the seven chemicals showed higher inhibition zone than that of the fermented cracked pollen without the chemicals. Lb. plantarum R produced more effective agents in the cracked pollen medium than the 11% total solid milk medium. When the fermented cracked pollen was treated with ammonium sulfate and centrifuged, the antibacterial activity remained in the supernatant. The extraction procedures for the antibacterial agents from the fermented cracked pollen using methanol-acetone and ethyl acetate showed a better effect with ethyl acetate. The fractions having the antibacterial activity from Sephadex G-50 gel chromatography were applied on the TLC and two bands were detected on the plate under UV light. Two bands didn`t showed any antibacterial activity but the area between two bands did.
Lactobacillus helveticus 의 자연항생작용에 관한 연구

The objective of this study was to extract and purity the antibacterial agent from the fermented milk with Lactobacillus helveticus CH-1. The extraction and purification of antibacterial agent from the Lb. helveticus fermented milk were carried out by methanol extraction, acetone extraction, Sephadex G-200 gel filteration and thin layer chromatography and the results were as followings. The antibacterial activity of methanol-acetone extraction showed antibacterial activity against test organisms, B. subtilis, E. coli, Pseu. fluorescens, Sal. typhimurium, Shi. flexneri and Sta. aureus. Sephadex G-200 gel chromatography showed only antibacterial activity from 33 to 37th fractions of 60 fractions. The agent purified from TLC plate confirmed the antibacterial activity by the means of bioautography.

In this study the cracked pine pollen was investigated the effect of pollen on the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus. Lactobacillus acidophilus CH-2 grew well in the medium consisted of cracked pollen with 2% glucose. When 0.2% dipotassium phosphate was added to cracked pine pollen-2% glucose medium, the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus CH-2 was comparable to the growth in MRS medium. The glucose consumption by Lactobacillus acidophilus CH-2 in five different media was compared after 7 hour incubation. Lactobacillus acidophilus CH-2 in the 5% skim milk medium containing 5% tomato juice and 5% cracked pine pollen showed the highest consumption of glucose, followed by the skim milk medium containing 5% cracked pine pollen marked the second place.
