EMT-3D 모델을 이용한 진해만 PAHs의 거동 예측 시뮬레이션
김동명,Kim, Dong-Myung 해양환경안전학회 2011 해양환경안전학회지 Vol.17 No.1
The behavior prediction of PAHs in Jinhae Bay using a three-dimensional ecological model(EMT-3D) was examined. A three-dimensional ecological model(EMT-3D) was applied to the simulation of PAHs behaviors in Jinhae Bay of Korea. The computed results of simulation were in good agreement with the observed values. The result of sensitivity analysis showed that photolysis coefficient and extinction coefficient were important factors in the variation of dissolved PAHs, and POC partition coefficient was important factor in the variation of PAHs in particulate organic matter. In the case of PAHs in phytoplankton, bioconcentration factor of plankton was the most significant and the most effective in all. In simulations of 30%, 50% and 80% reduction in total loads of PAHs, the concentrations of dissolved PAHs were shown to be lower than 24 ng/L, 20 ng/L and 16 ng/L, respectively.
Process development of a virally-safe dental xenograft material from porcine bones
김동명,강호창,차형준,배정은,김인섭,Kim, Dong-Myong,Kang, Ho-Chang,Cha, Hyung-Joon,Bae, Jung Eun,Kim, In Seop The Microbiological Society of Korea 2016 미생물학회지 Vol.52 No.2
A process for manufacturing virally-safe porcine bone hydroxyapatite (HA) has been developed to serve as advanced xenograft material for dental applications. Porcine bone pieces were defatted with successive treatments of 30% hydrogen peroxide and 80% ethyl alcohol. The defatted porcine bone pieces were heat-treated in an oxygen atmosphere box furnace at $1,300^{\circ}C$ to remove collagen and organic compounds. The bone pieces were ground with a grinder and then the bone powder was sterilized by gamma irradiation. Morphological characteristics such as SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) images of the resulting porcine bone HA (THE Graft$^{(R)}$) were similar to those of a commercial bovine bone HA (Bio-Oss$^{(R)}$). In order to evaluate the efficacy of $1,300^{\circ}C$ heat treatment and gamma irradiation at a dose of 25 kGy for the inactivation of porcine viruses during the manufacture of porcine bone HA, a variety of experimental porcine viruses including transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), pseudorabies virus (PRV), porcine rotavirus (PRoV), and porcine parvovirus (PPV) were chosen. TGEV, PRV, PRoV, and PPV were completely inactivated to undetectable levels during the $1,300^{\circ}C$ heat treatment. The mean log reduction factors achieved were $${\geq_-}4.65$$ for TGEV, $${\geq_-}5.81$$ for PRV, $${\geq_-}6.28$$ for PRoV, and $${\geq_-}5.21$$ for PPV. Gamma irradiation was also very effective at inactivating the viruses. TGEV, PRV, PRoV, and PPV were completely inactivated to undetectable levels during the gamma irradiation. The mean log reduction factors achieved were $${\geq_-}4.65$$ for TGEV, $${\geq_-}5.87$$ for PRV, $${\geq_-}6.05$$ for PRoV, and $${\geq_-}4.89$$ for PPV. The cumulative log reduction factors achieved using the two different virus inactivation processes were $${\geq_-}9.30$$ for TGEV, $${\geq_-}11.68$$ for PRV, $${\geq_-}12.33$$ for PRoV, and $${\geq_-}10.10$$ for PPV. These results indicate that the manufacturing process for porcine bone HA from porcine-bone material has sufficient virus-reducing capacity to achieve a high margin of virus safety.

A three-dimensional ecological model (EMT-3D) was used to simulate the behavior of PFOA in Gwangyang Bay, Korea. The results of sensitivity analysis showed that partition rate, adsorption rate, and settling rate were important factors in the variation in PFOA in particulate organic matter. Bioconcentration was the most significant factor for PFOA in phytoplankton, with the largest effect size. These parameters must therefore be carefully considered when modeling PFOA behavior. In simulations, 30% and 50% reductions in loads from land-based sources of PFOA resulted in concentrations of dissolved PFOA lower than 4 ng/L and 2 ng/L, respectively, in the central part of the bay.
제비집 시알산 유래 영양전달체(Nutrient Delivery System)의 인지기능 및 운동기능 개선 효과
김동명,정주영,이형곤,권용성,백진홍,한인석 한국식품영양학회 2020 韓國食品營養學會誌 Vol.33 No.6
The objective of this study was to produce a nutrient delivery system (NDS) using sialic acid extracted from edible bird’s nest (EBN), which improves brain function in patients with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, by affinity bead technology (ABT). The inhibitory activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and pyramidal cells in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus were analyzed to investigate the effect of a sialic acid NDS on Alzheimer’s disease. Also, the effect of a sialic acid NDS on Parkinson’s disease was evaluated by rota-rod test and pole test in an animal model. Among the groups treated with donepezil, EBN, and sialic acid NDS, the AChE activity was the lowest in the sialic acid NDS-treated group. The results of the hippocampus analysis of the rat model confirmed that the sialic acid NDS inhibited amyloid-beta accumulation depending upon the concentration. Also, the sialic acid NDS group showed more improvement in motor deterioration than the1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)- induced group in both the rota-rod test and pole test. Therefore, the sialic acid NDS had an effect of protecting not only Alzheimer’s disease by inhibiting AChE and amyloid-beta accumulation, but Parkinson’s disease by preventing neurotoxicity induced by MPTP.
