Model-based tuning rules of the PID controller are proposed incorporating with real-coded genetic algorithms. The optimal parameter sets of the PID controller for step set-point tracking are obtained based on the first-order time delay model and a real-coded genetic algorithm as an optimization tool. As for assessing the performance of the controllers, performance indices(ISE, IAE and ITAE) are adopted. Then tuning rules are derived using the tuned parameter sets, potential rule models and another real-coded genetic algorithm. A set of simulation works is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed rules.

The container load planning is one of key factors for efficient operations of handling equipments at container ports. This paper presents the problem of determining the optimal loading sequence of the containers which a straddle crane (S/C) picks up for minimizing its total travel distance. To obtain a good solution with considerably small effort, a heuristic search procedure based on a symbolic genetic algorithm is developed. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated throught a test problem.

This paper presents a scheme for integrating PID control, gain scheduling and emerging techniques in the field of artificial intelligence, such as fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms for the speed control of a marine diesel engine. At first, local PID controllers are designed based on a local model obtained at each speed mode, whose parameters are optimally tuned using a real-coded genetic algorithm. Then, fuzzy "if-then" rules combine the local controllers as a consequence part to implement fuzzy gain scheduling. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed fuzzy PID controller on overall operating conditions, a set of simulation works on B'||'&'||'W's 4L80MC diesel engine are carried out.t.

본 논문은 연속 주조 공정에서의 용강 높이에 대한 수학적인 비선형모델을 유도하는데, 여기에는 용강 높이, 몰드내의 입출력 유량, 스토퍼의 위치와 입력유량의 관계 등이 고려되었다. 비선형 모델은 MATLAB을 사용하여 구현되었으며 실제 데이터와 비교하여 수학적 모델이 유효함을 확인하였다. 구현된 비선형 모델을 사용하여, 퍼지 시스템에 의하여 변화하는 Kp값을 가지는 퍼지 PI 제어기를 사용하여, 기존에 사용되던 PI 제어기보다 나은 제어 성능 및 외란에의 강인성을 가짐을 시뮬레이션으로 보였다. A mathematical model of molten steel level for continuous casting process is presented, where the molten steel level, input and output flow in the mold, the relation between stopper position and input flow etc. are considered. The mathematical model is implemented and simulated by using MATLAB. Comparing the result of molten steel level from the simulator with that of real plant, the performance of the model is shown to be reasonable. By using this simulator, it is shown that PI controller with variable P gain, adjusted by fuzzy logic system, has better control result than conventional PI controller.
