4D Printing of Humidity-Responsive Liquid Crystal Elastomer Actuators

Herein, we present a new class of humidity-responsive liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) incorporating dimethylamino moieties that can be prepared by versatile processing, including surface alignment as well as 3D printing. The humidity-responsive properties are introduced by activating one of the LCE surfaces with an acidic solution, which generates cations on the surface, and provides asymmetric hydrophilicity to the LCE. The resulting humidity-responsive LCE undergoes programmed and reversible hygroscopic actuation, and its shape transformation can be directed by the cut angle with respect to a nematic director or by localizing activation regions in the LCE. Most importantly, various humidity-responsive LCE actuators, including a flower, a concentric square array, and a soft gripper, are successfully fabricated by employing LC inks in direct-ink-writing 3D printing.

In recent years, the Interest in railway safety has been increasing due to the continuous occurrence of large-scale railway accidents. In order to secure the safe operation of trains, it is necessary to develop technology to monitor in real time by integrating various safety equipment scattered on site. In this paper, we introduce verification system for transmission of railway safety detection device. This system sniffs, refines, and analyzes the data transmitted from the safety detection device based on the distributed on-site operation data and judges whether there is an abnormality in the transmission data of the safety detection device through the analysis and verification step. We also verified the monitoring function and the reporting function through the prove of concept of the verification system. In the future, it is expected that the reliability of the railway safety detection device can be secured through the verification system that monitors the transmission data of the safety detection device in real time, thereby improving the safety of the railway by preventing safety accidents in advance. 최근, 지속적으로 대형 철도사고가 발생함으로써 철도 안전에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 열차 안전 운행 확보를 위해 현장에 분산되어 설치된 다양한 안전설비를 통합하여 실시간으로 모니터링하는 기술 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 분산되어 있는 현장 운영 데이터 기반의 안전검지장치에서 전송된 데이터를 별도의 조작 없이 수집(스니핑), 정제, 분석 검증 단계를 통한 안전검지장치의 전송 데이터의 이상여부를 판단하여 데이터의 신뢰성과 정합성을 검증하는 안전검지장치 전송데이터 검증시스템에 대해 소개한다. 또한, 검증시스템의 개념검증을 통해 모니터링 기능 및 리포팅 기능이 정상적으로 동작함을 확인하였다. 향후, 실시간으로 안전검지장치의 전송데이터를 감시하는 검증시스템을 통해 철도안전 검지장치의 동작 신뢰성 확보가 가능하여 안전사고를 미연에방지함으로써 철도의 안전성을 향상시킬 것으로 기대한다.

Most importantly, by preparing 3-dimensional bilayer actuators that printed in z-direction as well, we suggested the possibility of 4D printing of humidity-responsive LCE.
RFID 태그 패키징 최적화를 위한 강수환경에서의 상용 Passive 태그 인식거리 측정 시험

In this paper, Theoretical read range test have been carried out according to the variation of the volume of tag packaging and the precipitation in the 915MHz for application to apply low cost commercial passive RFID Tags for train position detection. Tag performance analysis has been performed. This test was performed to analyze the tag performance in the precipitation environment. Based on this information, manufactured the tag packaging which was unaffected by meteorological environment and tested the performance of the theoretical read range forward then evaluated the performance of it. In consequence, the theoretical read range forward produced in precipitation 50mm was measured 1M. In order to apply RFID passive tag in the railway field in the future, Reliability verification through the additional manufactured tag recognition test in high speed is expected to be required.

전세계적으로 RFID 기술은 반도체 칩이 내장된 태그, 카드 등의 저장된 데이터를 무선 주파수를 이용하여 비접촉으로 사물 인식할 수 있게 해주는 기술로써 최근 물류, 유통등 다양한 분야에서 활용하고 있다. RFID 시스템은 태그, 리더기와 안테나 등으로 구성되어 있으며, RFID 태그는 전원의 유무에 따라 능동형(Active)과 수동형(Passive)으로 구분 할 수 있다. 수동형 태그는 능동형 태그보다 저가이지만 눈, 비, 안개, 오염 등과 같은 환경적인 요인에 의해 태그 인식거리 감소 등 성능저하가 발생하기 때문에 RFID 태그 패키징 개발부터 신뢰성 확보가 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 저가의 Passive 태그를 철도분야의 열차위지검지용으로 활용하기 위하여 강수환경에서의 900~960MHz에서 스티커형 상용 Passive RFID태그 인식거리 측정 결과 분석을 제시한다. In the world, RFID technology system which detect and recognize object with non-connecting using wireless signal remotely is being widely used to many industrial areas for position detection. Passive Tag are cheap than active Tag, but is essential to ensure reliability from developing RFID tags packaging because the performance degradation such as tag read range reduced by abiotic factors. In the paper, the sticker-type commercial passive tag read range in the frequency bands 900~960MHz has been measured for utilize the train position detection in the precipitation.
