Recently, diffusion of telematics services and an explosive increase of in-vehicle display devices, such as Car Navigation Systems (CNSs), are becoming the new causes of traffic accidents. This is due to ‘inattention’ caused by an increase in the driver’s mental workload while he/she is driving. This situation has lead many countries to consider controlling the use of in-vehicle devices while driving through legislation. This research studies the effect of voice or display information systems on drivers through the Driver Eye Movement Analysis and the measurement of response ability. The experiment is carried out in a driving simulator and the results are presented through the comparative analysis of the driver’s visual field via the gaze tracking device and the average of correct answer rates for arithmetic problems.

In these days, vehicle manufacturers and system suppliers are well advanced in their driver assistance system products. Especially, in the development process, the reliability test is essential for the guarantee of driver’s safety and convenience. Many ADAS suppliers should do their best to handle a lot of test cases in their test development process. However, it is difficult to make the same test condition and environment in the real driving test. The driving simulator can be used for the alternative and cost-effective test method. In this study, a driving simulator with a 6-DOF motion platform is developed and we propose the verification process of LDWS(Lane Departure Warning System) using a driving simulator. It is expected that the new test method can be used for other ADAS system test such as LCA(Lane Change Assist System), CAS(Collision Avoidance System), and EDS(Emergency Driving Support).

The Korea is conducted performance based on design according to fire fighting law in 2009, but it came out problems related to PBD consistently. Especially, there is no specific guideline or code related to evacuation safety verification. so it came out different results according to designer. This study is looking for each country criteria and suggest the basis data for Manual composition through comparison.

A driving Simulator is very useful instrument not only to test the device of future cars but also to evaluate the HMI(Human-Machine Interface). It has already been developed since 1970's. Most driving simulators has the motion platforms which are installed below the cabin for realistic driving feel. However this causes undesirable reverse force during sudden maneuvers. During a sudden left hand turn, the driver is expected to experience a pulling force toward the right due to centrifugal forces. However at the start of the tilting motion, the driver experiences a force in the opposite direction for a short period of time due to inertial accelerations. This is responsible for the simulator sickness which is the major shortcoming of driving simulators. This paper describes and introduces a new type motion platform, the inverted driving simulator. With the inverted motion platform, the initial force at the start of the tilt and the resulting force due to gravitational pull after the motion platform is tilted are in the same direction. Therefore, with proper motion modulation, the driver can be made to feel the desired force in the correct direction right away form the beginning of motion.
