Objectives:The family caregivers of patients with dementia experience high caregiver burden. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of depression in family caregivers of dementia patients and to reveal whether or not the depression is affected by caregiver burden. Methods:Multi-stage cluster sampling was adopted in this study. Interviews were conducted face-to-face with 18-year-old and older people living in the community from June to November 2016. Korean version of Composite International Diagnostic Interview(K-CIDI) was applied to assess the prevalence of one-year MDD of the subjects. It also examined whether caregivers in the survey lived with the dementia patients, whether they were caregiving the dementia patients themselves, and which relationship they had. Results:Cross-analysis was conducted on the relationships in MDD and caregiver burden according to demographic factors, with a total of 5,102 respondents in the study. Prevalence of one-year MDD was 8.2% for sons and daughters and 50% for spouses with dementia. Among the families who had caregiver burden with dementia, prevalence of one-year MDD was 12.9%. Elderly and small numbers of family were also significantly associated with the prevalence of one-year MDD. Conclusion:The prevalence of one-year MDD of the family caregivers of patients with dementia was higher than without that of patients according to family relation and caregiver burden. Caregivers who were elderly and had two or fewer family members had more caregiver burden and higher prevalence of one-year MDD.

<P>Individual molecular spins are promising quantum states for emerging computation technologies. The “on surface” configuration of molecules in proximity to a magnetic film allows control over the orientations of molecular spins and coupling between them. The stacking of planar molecular spins could favor antiferromagnetic interlayer couplings and lead to pinning of the magnetic underlayer <I>via</I> the exchange bias, which is extensively utilized in ultrafast and high-density spintronics. However, fundamental understanding of the molecular exchange bias and its operating features on a device has not been unveiled. Here, we showed tunable molecular exchange bias and its asymmetrical magnetotransport characteristics on a device by using the metalloporphyrin/cobalt hybrid films. A series of the distinctive molecular layers showcased a wide range of the interfacial exchange coupling and bias. The transport behaviors of the hybrid bilayer films revealed the molecular exchange bias effect on a fabricated device, representing asymmetric characteristics on anisotropic and angle-dependent magnetoresistances. Theoretical simulations demonstrated close correlations among the interfacial distance, magnetic interaction, and exchange bias. This study of the hybrid interfacial coupling and its impact on magnetic and magnetotransport behaviors will extend functionalities of molecular spinterfaces for emerging information technologies.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Development of LSM Control System for Super Speed Maglev

As a propulsion device for super speed maglev with 500km/h level, the powerful linear synchronous motor(LSM) is necessary. To control the LSM, the precise position data of high speed running maglev should be detected and transmitted to the inverter controller which provides the synchronized current to the LSM stator attached on the guideway. And to minimize the power input to the stator, the whole guideway is devided into several sections and the power is supplied to the only one section which the train is running on. In this case, precise section change control is needed to mitigate the vibration and noise. In this study, first, the infinite loop type LSM and section control testbed is developed. Then, LSM and section control algorithms are applied to the testbed and the feasibility of derived control techniques are verified through the experiments.
