Hybrid-powered vehicles offer an advantage of superior fuel economy through use of regenerative braking and lowered transient emissions by reducing the operating portion of the engine to follow load as closely as in a conventional bus. A diesel hybrid bus was designed and a proto-type was developed in this study. It has a parallel-type hybrid powertrain system and uses a 5.9-liter diesel engine which satisfy Euro-5 emission standard. And 44kW-electric motor, AMT(automated manual transmission) and Li-ion type batteries were applied to this hybrid bus. Total 8 diesel hybrid buses are test-running at 6 cities and the driving performances are being monitored in terms of fuel efficiency, emission and convenience. This study presents the performance and major component features of diesel hybrid powertrain systems. Real road test result in Busan city showed a benefit of fuel economy about 36% by comparing to a conventional diesel-powered bus. Chassis dynamometer tests were also carried out and diesel hybrid bus showed 42% ~ 54% higher fuel efficiency and low emission levels than diesel bus.
Improved Surface Morphology of Crosslinked Hole Transport Films by a Mixture of Polymer for OLEDs

<P>Solution process for multilayer organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) brings in the dissolution problems between two stacked layers. It can be tackled using crosslinkable organic materials, especially for a hole transport layer (HTL). Similar to noncrosslinked HTL films based on small molecules, however, there appears the aggregation phenomenon in crosslinked HTL films fabricated by spin coating. We have demonstrated that aggregation can be suppressed through a mixture of noncrosslinkable polymer and crosslinkable small molecule HTL materials. Although such a mixed HTL film results in a slight degradation in the solvent resistance and device performance, it ensures the film uniformity and thus OLED stability. When cured under ambient air, however, the mixed HTL films exhibit a number of microaggregates that increase in proportion to the concentration of the polymer chains. It is attributed that the moisture adsorption near the hybrid interfaces causes lateral phase separation. We have found that they disappear by carrying out the thermal curing under inert gas atmosphere or increasing the polymer concentration in ambient air.</P>

<P>Highly sensitive resistive pressure sensors are fabricated by a direct spray coating of silver nanowires (AgNWs) on uncured polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and an additional coating of a conductive polymer, poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS). We have fabricated non-sandwiched sensors (AgNW and AgNW/polymer sensors) and sandwich-structured sensors (sandwiched AgNW and AgNW/polymer sensors) by pressure lamination. The former exhibits a resistance increase, whereas the latter shows a resistance decrease upon loading. It is demonstrated that the AgNW/polymer sensor with the lowest initial resistance is suitable for medium pressure regime applications. In the presence of the over-coated PEDOT:PSS layer, the protrusion of AgNWs from PDMS is suppressed substantially, rendering the sensors more stable and reducing hysteresis. We have found that the sandwich-structured AgNW/polymer sensor with the highest initial resistance features the highest sensitivity (2.59 kPa‒1) and gauge factor (37.8) in the low pressure regime. It can also detect a subtle placement and removal of a weight as low as 3.4 mg, the corresponding pressure of which is about 5.4 Pa.</P>
