        자크 헤르조그와 피에르 드 뫼롱의 건축 외피에 나타난 미디어 메시지에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study to find the message in the architectural skin established by Herzog’s and de Meuron’s architecture through media theory of Marshall McLuhan. The characteristics of the media message appearing in the Herzog’s and de Meuron’s architectural skin are realistic methods of ‘projecting the change in time to vision through various information on the architectural skin’, ‘making a time change through the medium of additional information of main information’, or acquiring a new sense of space by ‘adding information to the architectural skin and causing time inter-penetration inside a brain with past experiences and memories’, which have led the qualitative growth of modern architecture. Therefore, in that a city itself is the forest of media creating information, the architectural skin of modern architecture in the information-oriented society becomes the intermediate media of communication, and should be understood by an observer as the qualitative pursuit to make the sharing of information function as the message of emotional communion.

        현대공간에 나타나는 역공간(逆空間)의 특성연구

        A variety of attempts for trends to overcome the limits of the uniform styles and a fixed dichotomous structure and thoughts, have been made. This research aims to apply and analyze the application of concepts of the liminal space of contemporary architecture based on the destructive inclination of post-structuralism and the theories of philosophers. Space of the past was recognized for a long time focused on functions and styles that support the building In modern and contemporary spaces, however, the boundary of contemporary space has been blurred with the mingling of cultural phenomenon. In order words, new architectural approaches of expression have been attempted such as structure, styles and materials, in combination of diversified concepts. And, the concept of liminal space is useful to identify the multi-layered and fluid characteristics. This study examines various characteristics of expression on the liminal space characteristics of comtemporary architecture based on Herzog and de Meuron`s architecture. The result will help us understand the expression and characteristics of the liminal space that belongs nowhere among their architectural spaces. The analysis of the ases of Herzog and de Meuron will play a crucial role in developing new possibilities of modern space and contemporary space of the future.

        『Prada Aoyama Tokyo』의 외피구축 특성과 구조-외피의 관계

        본 논문은 Herzog & de Meuron이 지속적으로 그들의 작업에서 시도하고 있는 외피구축의 다양한 사례들 중「Prada Aoyama Tokyo」에서 나타난 외피구축 방식 및 특성을 구조와 외피의 관계로부터 이해하고자 하였다. 연 구의 결과 「Prada Aoyama Tokyo」에서 외피는 구조와의 관계를 최대로 수용하여 내부공간의 공간감에 영향을 미치 는 요소로 작용하였으며, 외피가 단순히 표현을 위한 매체가 아니라 공간의 문제가 되었음을 확인하였다. 특히 이들 이 표현하고자 하는 형태원리는 외피나 구조 그 자체라기보다는 오히려 이 두 가지 요소들 사이의 관계맺음을 통해 얻어지는 효과라 할 수 있다. Herzog & de Meuron have been tried to diverse skin construction process and effects on their lots of projects. The purpose of this study is an understanding of the characteristics on a skin construction of「Prada Aoyama Tokyo」. The results of this study are as follows. First, Skin is an element for impacting inside spatial sense by accommodating relationship between structure and skim. And skin is not only something for expression but also spatial matter. Especially their principal of building form is an effects by relationship between structure and skin.

        Herzog & de Meuron 건축의 색채사용특징에 관한 연구

        Herzog & Meuron은 재료의 본질적 속성에 다양한 가공기법으로 건축의 표피를 만들어내는 독창적인 건축을 하는 그룹으로 알려져 있다. 그들은 재료의 끊임없는 연구와 함께 색채의 다양하고 독창적인 기법을 긴밀하게 결부시켜 사용함으로서 효과를 극대화하고 있다. 이와 같은 색채사용 기법은 현대건축이 고정된 시각에서 시간의 기반으로 하는 동적시각으로 전환되면서, 건축색채의 다차원적 해석의 계기를 만들어내고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서 HdM의 건축색채를 대상으로 비 물성, 가변성, 유연성으로 대표되는 건축 개념과 동적시각으로서 다차원적인 접근방식으로 색채사용특징을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 특징이 나타났다. 거의 모든 HdM 건축 외피는 재료 색으로서 시간에 따른 속성의 변화에 의해 자연스러운 색채변화를 나타내고 있었다. 그리고 재료의 가공을 통해 빛의 변화를 적극적으로 수용될 수 있도록 함으로서 빛과 작용하는 비 균질적인 색채를 볼 수 있었다. 또한 사이 공간을 두고 재료에 색채를 이입하거나 고밀도의 그래픽에 의한 복합적인 색채를 구현으로 지속적인 색채 변화를 유도하고 있었다. 특히 자연현상이나 빛의 변화에 민감하게 작용하는 현상적인 색채로서 특징을 강하게 드러내고 있었으며 시간이나 사건에 따라 색의 출현을 다르게 함으로서 가변적이고 유기적인 색채사용특징을 나타내고 있었다. Herzog & Meuron is known as the architect of the creative group that produces architectural surface of the skin by the intrinsic attribute of materials. They are closely tied to by using various techniques of color with constant research of materials to maximize the effect. Also it uses a unique approach in applying application of color, as it switches from a fixed vision to the building recognition by time-based dynamic visual, it has created an opportunity for analysis by a multidimensional perspective of architectural colors. So, in this study, being aimed at the architectural colors of HdM, with their architectural concepts represented by the immateriality, variability and flexibility with a multi-dimensional approach, therefore, analysis of the characteristics in color used had the following features: Almost every building surface of HdM was of the original material color, it denotes a natural color was changed by the change in properties over time. It could be seen the non-homogeneous color with light, to be actively receiving a change in the light through the processing of the material. In addition, with a space in-between space, it was appeared the continuous color change, by implementing the combination of the color by the high density of the graphic, or imported a color film on the material. In particular, a natural phenomenon or as sensitive to changes in light, it was characterized as a developer revealed a strong function of the color.

        This study aims to analyze tectonic concepts and expressional characteristics in architectural spaces of Herzog and De Meuron. An approach from the perspective of existentialism ontology would be find to explore the essence of expressional characteristics in their architectural spaces. Especially, the tectonic viewpoint is one of ways to explore them. First of all, this study considers general, conceptual features of tectonic from the modern and classical views. As a tectonic with an ontological meaning, not a general one, their architectural spaces have logics and standpoints close to the essence. This study then extracts characteristics of methodologies what they want to express architecturally with their essential views of architecture through analysis of works and discusses them.

        현대건축공간에 나타나는 비물성 표현방식에 관한 연구

        After The Industrial Revolution in 18th century, constructions were done with universal material (concrete) in everywhere instead of using materials that are produced in each country because of development of industry material and transportation. This change caused the buildings to become trite with no local characteristics. Hereupon, the study intends to understand the essence of matter and restore various construction methods of each matter with the topic of ‘Immateriality’. Immateriality is the revealed concept based on Materiality. Consequently the process and characteristics of immateriality shown on the works of Kuma Kengo and Herzog & de Meuron, three kinds of features can be found of immateriality expression mode. They are as in the following. First, there is a mode of transforming the shape and properties in physical or psychological way by observer. Second, there is a mode of conflating the shape and properties in physical or psychological way by observer. Third, there is a mode of mixing the shape and properties in physical or psychological way by observer.

        공간에서 촉각적 감각과 깊이의 문제에 대하여

        Contradiction plays a very important role in the Herzog & De Meuron"s architecture. They have been well known through the tactile sense of the material and the surface. But the material is not clearly conveyed a sense. Herzog & De Meuron "s architectural features is that sense has somewhere distortion. Their architectures are more special because it will appear distorted, rather than clearly shown in the feel of the surface. Rafael Moneo has regarded Herzog & De Meuron’s architectures’ characteristics as the tectonic. He has insisted the characteristics of the architecture which they made is not use of the material surface, use of the material tectonic. In particular, Moneo has pointed out that they replace the role of architectural form as the characteristics of the material. And he is understand their architecture’s importance lay on the exclusion of any image in architecture to be able to see architecture itself. But Moneo"s perspective is focused only on the initial work of them. So it is need to be extended from the tectonic to the superposition of surface and depth. In other words, tectonic is kind of result of the superposition of surface and depth. This paper insist that the superposition of these contradictions of material senses could be switched to the tectonic in architecture, and the expression of the sensation is based on the transition of tactile to visual senses. Through this, the paper could more clearly reveal their architectures’ characteristics.
