텔레비전드라마 <오렌지 마말레이드>에 나타난 타자의 의미와 주체의 불안

The television drama <Orange Marmalade> offers a text to show how subjects fulfilled their desire as they tried to reconfirm their self-identity, otherizing vampires and adolescents. Vampires and adolescents were depicted as others in the following patterns and meanings: The vampires have given up bloodsucking and thus weakened with their transcendent abilities lost. They were promised to coexist with human beings for their sacrifice, but the promise has not been kept. Human beings control and manage the vampires like livestock and discriminate them in the application of law. In those aspects, the vampires can be seen as a metaphor of the weak and minor groups in the society subjected to discrimination. They have given up resistance against this irrational world themselves, and what is left with them is to dream of becoming human by seeking after the desire of subjects. Their dream is, however, beyond their reach, which makes them aware of their position as others further. The adolescents make an attempt at becoming students and succeed in their attempt. The otherness of vampires disappears under the keyword of adolescents. As they are included in the self-justification procedure of the older generation represented by the student human rights ordinance, however, they start a recognition procedure to be the right members of society just like the vampires. Once proving they are useful students according to the wishes of the older generation, the adolescents earn the possibility of holding the position of the older generation some day. The adolescents that fail to prove their usefulness as students, on the other hand, get to exist only in the reality outside the television drama. In the end, the vampires' failure in becoming human and the adolescents' success in becoming students show the catastrophic situation of subjects that can forget their ontological anxiety only through otherization. 텔레비전드라마 <오렌지 마말레이드>는 뱀파이어와 청소년을 타자화함으로써 자기정체성을 재확인하려는 주체의 욕망 수행을 보여주는 텍스트이다. 뱀파이어와 청소년이 타자로서 그려지는 양상과 의미는 다음과 같다. 뱀파이어는 흡혈을 포기함으로써 초월적 능력을 상실한 약화된 존재이다. 하지만 그 대가로 약속되었던 인간과의 공존은 제대로 이루어지지 않는다. 인간은 뱀파이어를 가축처럼 통제/관리하고, 법 적용에도 차등을 둔다. 이런 점에서 뱀파이어는 차별받는 사회적 약자와 소수자의 은유로 읽힐 수 있다. 이런 부조리한 세계에 대한 저항을 스스로 포기한 뱀파이어에게 남은 것은 주체의 욕망을 욕망하며 인간되기를 꿈꾸는 것뿐이다. 하지만 그것은 성공할 수 없는 것이기 때문에 오히려 뱀파이어로 하여금 타자로서의 위치를 자각하게 만든다. 반면 청소년은 학생되기를 시도하고 성공하는 존재들이다. 청소년이라는 키워드 하에서 뱀파이어의 타자성은 사라진다. 하지만 청소년은 학생인권조례로 상징되는 기성세대의 자기정당화 절차에 포섭되면서 뱀파이어와 마찬가지로 사회의 올바른 일원이 되고자 하는 인정절차에 돌입한다. 기성세대의 뜻에 따라 쓸모 있는 학생이 된 청소년은 언젠가 기성세대의 위치를 점유할 가능성을 얻게 된다. 반대로 학생이 될 수 없는 쓸모없는 청소년은 텔레비전드라마 밖의 현실에만 존재하게 된다. 결국 뱀파이어의 인간되기 실패와 청소년의 학생되기 성공은 타자화를 통해야만 존재론적 불안을 잊을 수 있는 주체의 파국적 상황을 보여준다.

판타지드라마 <오렌지 마말레이드>에 구현된 `불안/혐오/경청`의 타자

본 연구는 뱀파이어에 대한 인간의 상상력이 복합적으로 작동하고 있는 텔레비전드라마 <오렌지 마말레이드>의 `뱀파이어(흡혈족/귀) 여성`을 통해 타자에 대한 불안과 공포 그리고 경청의 양상을 살펴본 결과물이다. 본 연구에서는 뱀파이어 여학생과 인간 남학생이 대립과 갈등 그리고 교감과 사랑으로 공존에 이르는 과정에서 이중 삼중의 억압을 받는 여성이 어떻게 사회적 소수자(약자)로 타자화되어 있는지를 분석하였다. 그 결과 남성의 시선으로 대상화된 여성에게 `생명의 근원`과 같은 신성성이 부여되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 자기 욕망에 충실한 여성의 경우 악마성이 부여되면서 사회적 처벌을 피하지 못한다는 것도 확인할 수 있었다. 이것은 사회적 위상이 많이 향상되었다고는 하지만, 여전히 타자의 위치에 붙박인 여성의 현실이 고스란히 투사되어 있는 것으로 해석하였다. 인간은 뱀파이어라는 타자를 만들어 알 수 없는 것들에서 기인하는 불안과 공포를 털어내려 했고, <오렌지 마말레이드>는 사회적 소수자(약자)로서의 `뱀파이어 여성`에게 `생명의 근원`이라는 위상을 부여하면서 신성시하였다. 그리고 뱀파이어와 인간의 공존이라는 낭만적 결말을 통해 백마리는 이제 더 이상 천한 백성의 딸도 아니고, 오염의 가능성이 농후한 피를 가진 여성도 아니며, 인간과 다른 종족인 뱀파이어도 아닌, 그저 남들과 아주 조금 다른 존재임을 강조면서 사회적 소수자(약자)에 대한 차별 해소와 공존 방법을 모색하였다. 결론적으로 <오렌지 마말레이드>는 `뱀파이어`라는 이물의 환상 기제와 (성)차별은 물론 혐오의 시선에 시달리는 `여성`의 서사를 통해 사회적 소수자(약자)가 처한 문제적 상황을 환기하고 해결의 실마리를 모색한 판타지드라마로 평가할 수 있었다. The study is a result of a study on the Other of the `Anxiety/Disgust/Listening` through a television drama < Orange Marmalade > a combination of a mixture of human imagination to vampires. The study analyzed the problems of social minorities that the love of the vampire girl was. As a result, it was revealed that a women whose eyes were targeted at the male`s gaze was given the same divine value as Life. It also confirmed that women who are faithful to their desire to fulfill their desires are hard to avoid social punishment. Although it has improved considerably since the influence of feminism, it is interpreted that the reality of women in the Korean society is still in the forefront of the position of women who are still in the position of a patriarchal society. Man tried to shake off the fear and fear stemming from the unknown by making a vampire known as a vampire. And the < Orange Marmalade > is sacred as a social minority, giving birth to the so-called `origin of life` as a social minority. The romantic conclusion of the work was not a woman`s daughter, nor was it a woman with the potential for contamination, not a woman with blood, but rather a little bit different from a person else, not a vampire. It has confirmed that the discrimination against social minorities has been resolved dramatically. In conclusion, < Orange Marmalade > was able to evaluate the fantasy of a Korean society by combining the illusion of `social minorities` and `women` in the Korean society.
