17세기 말~18세기 초 소론계 문인들의 소식(蘇軾) 혹호(酷好) 현상과 의미

문학 전범에 대한 인식이 정치적 집단의 분기에 따라 상이할 수 있는가 하는 물음에 분명한 답을 내리기에는 어려움이 있다. 아니, 오히려 그러한 도식적 이해가 실상을 왜곡할 우려도 없지 않다. 그럼에도 불구하고 본고에서는 산문 전범으로서 蘇軾에 대한 酷好 현상이 17세기 말~18세기초 특정 소론계 문인들에게서 발견된다는 점에 착안하여, 그 원인을 노소 분기의 과정에서 나타났던 문학관 차이에서 찾고자 하였다. 산문의 전범으로서 소식을 酷好한 현상은 趙龜命·林象鼎·崔弘簡·申靖夏 등 소론계 일부 문인에게 공통적으로 나타났다. 그들은 모두 도학과 별개로 문학을 하나의 嗜好의 대상으로 인식하였다. 물론 그들 역시 성리학의 자장에서 자유로울 수는 없었으나 상대적으로 문학의 독자적 가치를 인정하였던 文藝之士였다. 이러한 그들의 정체성은 소식을 혹호하는 데에 일정 영향을 끼쳤던 것으로 보인다. 사실 朱子가 소식에 대해 학문이 불순하고 그 문학이 도학에 근거하지 않아 道文이 일치하지 않는다고 지적한 이래, 이는 조선시대 소식에 대한 하나의 관점으로 정착되었다. 그런데 이러한 소식 학문의 불순함은 전통적 도문관과 일정 거리를 두었던 인물에게는 문제될 것이 없었다. 따라서 그들은 소식 문학에 대해 그 장처를 적극 수용하고 문학 전범으로서 인정하는 것을 꺼리지 않을 수 있었다. 아울러 그들이 모두 ‘意’를 중시하는 산문이론을 보였다는 점도 소식 혹호 현상과 관련이 있다. 소식의 문학론에서는 ‘의’를 중시하는 측면을 확인할 수 있으며, 실제 그가 창작한 산문 작품들은 ‘意’가 뛰어났다고 평가된다. 이로 보아 主意論을 개진했던 이들에게 소식 산문은 훌륭한 전범으로 인식될 공산이 컸다. 사실 이러한 주의론은 朴世堂에서부터 金柱臣, 李德壽에 이르기까지 소론계 다수 문인들에게서 계승되었던 산문이론이었고, 이들이 모두 소식을 혹호하지 않았음은 물론이다. 그러나 소식 산문의 특장으로 인식되었던 부분이 ‘意’와 관련 있음을 고려하면, 소론계 일부 문인의 ‘주의론’과 ‘소식 혹호’는 일정한 상관관계가 있다고 판단된다. 게다가 조귀명을 비롯한 소론계 일부 문인들이 ‘意’를 중시하는, 너무나 당연한 이 논의를 재차 강조했던 이유가 당대 문단이 법에 구애되는 문제가 있다고 판단했기 때문이라는 점에서, 그들의 주의론은 韓歐正脈을 표방한 문인들과는 뚜렷하게 대비를 이룬다. 그렇게 본다면 그들의 소식 혹호는 노소 분기의 정치적 흐름과 결부된 산문 비평사의 의미 있는 현상임은 물론이고, 소론계 문인들이 이전 自黨의 산문이론을 계승하면서 자기화를 통해 내놓은 산문 전범에 대한 차별화된 인식의 결과물이라고 할 수 있다. It is difficult to answer the question of whether the Soron Party and Noron Party may have different perceptions of literature example criminals in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Furthermore, there are concerns that this schematic understanding will distort the reality. Nevertheless, this study noted that Su Shi Preference as a prose example was discovered around the Soron Party at this time, and noted that the cause was the difference in literary views due to the political differentiation between Noron and Soron. The Su Shi Preference phenomenon was common to some of the Soron Party's writers, including Jo Gui-myoung(趙龜命), Yim Sang-jeong(林象鼎), Choi Hong-gan(崔弘簡), and Shin Jeong-ha(申靖夏). They all recognized literature as an object of affection. Of course, they were not free from Neo-Confucianism either, but they recognized the independent value of literature. Their identity seems to have had a certain impact on Su Shi Preference. In fact, Zhu Xi pointed out that the scholarly impure about Su Shi and that the literature is not based on Confucian ethics. This was established from a perspective on Su Shi during the Joseon Dynasty. However, this impure of Su Shi's learning was not a problem for a person who had a certain distance from traditional literature. Therefore, they could not be reluctant to accept the merits of Su Shi literature and recognize it as a literature example. It is also related to the Su Shi Preference phenomenon that they all sticked to Juiron(主意論). Su Shi's literature theory shows the importance of “Ui,” and The prose works he created are evaluated as having excellent ‘Ui(意)’. In this regard, Su Shi prose was likely to be recognized as a good literature example for those who argued for Juiron. In addition, it is significant that Juiron of Soron Party's writers including Jo Gui-myoung was raised in the context of pointing out the issue of being bound by the law. This is because it contrasts sharply with writers who advocate the Classic Literate Style of Han-yu(韓愈) and Koo Yang-soo(歐陽脩), which values law. In view of this, their Su Shi Preference was the result of Soron's internalization of the former one's own party's Literary Theory when Noron and Soron were divided. It was also the result of a differentiated perception of the literature example created through such internalization.
