For an n ${\times}$ n real matrix X, let ${\Phi}$(X) = X o (X$\^$-1/)$\^$T/, where o stands for the Hadamard (entrywise) product. Suppose A, B, G and D are n ${\times}$ n real nonsingular matrices, and among them there are at least one solutions to the equation (equation omitted). An equivalent condition which enable (equation omitted) become a real solution ot the equation (equation omitted), is given. As application, we get new real solutions to the matrix equation (equation omitted) by applying the results of Zhang. Yang and Cao [SIAM.J.Matrix Anal.Appl, 21(1999), pp: 642-645] and Chen [SIAM.J.Matrix Anal.Appl, 22(2001), pp:965-970]. At the same time, all solutions of the matrix equation (equation omitted) are also given.
INEQUALITIES INVOLVING KHATRI-RAO PRODUCTS OF HERMITIAN MATRICES

Recently, Several inequalities Khatri-Rao Products of two four partitioned blocks positive definite real symmetry matrices are established by Liu in[Lin. Alg. Appl. 289(1999): 267-277]. We extend these results in two ways. First, the results are extended to two any partitioned blocks Hermitian matrices. Second, necessary and sufficient conditions under which these inequalities become equalities are presented.

This extends two existing matrix inequalities on Schur complements de- fined respectively by inverses and Moore-Penrose generalized inverses (see Wang et al. [Lin. Alg. Appl., 302-303(1999)163-172] and Liu and Wang [Lin. Alg. Appl., 293(1999)233-241]). Moreover, the non-uniqueness of {1}-generalized inverses yields the complicatedness of the extension.

Preparation and thermo-mechanical properties of heat-resistant epoxy/silica hybrid materials

<P>Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) based epoxy/silica hybrid materials filled with various amounts of 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and silica nanoparticles were prepared, using 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS) as curing agent. The obtained hybrid materials were analyzed by means of Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results indicated that the introduction of GPTMS and silica nanoparticles had synergistic effect. The addition of GPTMS not only ameliorated the compatibility between silica and the epoxy matrix but also increased the crosslinking density of the epoxy system; meanwhile the nano-silica further reinforced the inorganic network of the hybrid system. Consequently, the hybrid materials showed much improved heat-resistant properties. The storage modulus of the hybrid systems showed no obvious decrement in the glass transition region and kept at a high value even in the temperature region up to 300°C. The integral thermal stability of the resulting hybrid materials was also improved compared with the corresponding pure epoxy resin. POLYM. ENG. SCI., 2008. © 2008 Society of Plastics Engineers.</P>
Sequence Analysis of cytb Gene in Echinococcus granulosus from Western China

Echinococcus granulosus is the causative agent of cystic echinococcosis with medical and veterinary importance in China. Our main objective was to discuss the genotypes and genetic diversity of E. granulosus present in domestic animals and humans in western China. A total of 45 hydatid cyst samples were collected from sheep, humans, and a yak and subjected to an analysis of the sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome b (cytb) gene. The amplified PCR product for all samples was a 1,068 bp band. The phylogenetic analysis showed that all 45 samples were identified as E. granulosus (genotype G1). Ten haplotypes were detected among the samples, with the main haplotype being H1. The haplotype diversity was 0.626, while the nucleotide diversity was 0.001. These results suggested that genetic diversity was low among our samples collected from the west of China based on cytb gene analysis. These findings may provide more information on molecular characteristics of E. granulosus from this Chinese region.
Developmental Stages of Akebia trifoliata Fruit Based on Volume

Akebia trifoliata, commonly named augmelon (means August plus melon), has been domesticating as a new artificial cultivation fruit crop in China for several years. Generally, field management measurements are severely dependent on the development dynamic of harvest organs, and therefore the study of fruit development stage of A. trifoliata is urgent in production. In this study, four cloned lines with various spindle, nephroid, pyriform and Banana-like shapes, were selected to observe fruit developmental parameters, including volume, weight, length and width from pollination to maturity. Volume rather than length or width, which can minimize the influence of fruit shape on growth stage, was finally employed as a primary parameter for dividing developmental stages. Then a Logistic model of volume growth was established according to the data of pyriform fruit, and the other three fruits were employed to the suitability of this mathematical model. The resulted showed that the growth curve of augmelon appeared typical double sigmoid shape for all four shapes fruits. Based on four inflection points of volume growth curve, the fruit development of augmelon was classified five developmental stages in the order: fast stretch (FS) stage lasting for 48 days, shape stabilization (SS) stage lasting for 30 days, tardy expansion (TE) stage lasting for 51 days, suspended expansion (SE) stage lasting for 21 days and fast expansion (FE) stage lasting for 30 days. Comprehensively, volume was an ideal growth parameter for dividing fruit developmental stage of augmelon, and five-stage growth model could be applied as reference for both gardener and scientist to refer to the fruit growth status.

HMGN5 is a typical member of the HMGN (high mobility group nucleosome-binding protein) family which may function as a nucleosomal binding and transcriptional activating protein. Overexpression of HMGN5 has been observed in several human tumors but its role in tumorigenesis has not been fully clarified. To investigate its significance for human lung cancer progression, we successfully constructed a shRNA expression lentiviral vector in which sense and antisense sequences targeting the human HMGN5 were linked with a 9-nucleotide loop. Inhibitory effects of siRNA on endogenous HMGN5 gene expression and protein synthesis were demonstrated via real-time RT-PCR and western blotting. We found HMGN5 silencing to significantly inhibit A549 and H1299 cell proliferation assessed by MTT, BrdU incorporation and colony formation assays. Furthermore, flow cytometry analysis showed that specific knockdown of HMGN5 slowed down the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase and decreased the populations of A549 and H1299 cells at the S and G2/M phases. Taken together, these results suggest that HMGN5 is directly involved in regulation cell proliferation in A549 and H1299 cells by influencing signaling pathways involved in cell cycle progression. Thus, our finding suggests that targeting HMGN5 may be an effective strategy for human lung cancer treatment.
