A discontinuous plastic flow is detected in a single-crystal superalloy with an [001] orientation during tensile tests over a wide temperature range. Results reveals that the synergistic impact of normal γ′ precipitates and nanoscale γ′ precipitates in γ matrix on the dislocations motion is the root of the serrated flow.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a major cause of death worldwide. The treatment of MI has improved during the last decade; however, the loss of myocytes remains a problem because the cells cannot be renewed. Cardiac stem cells were recently discovered and were thought to represent a promising treatment for MI. However, the efficiency of cardiac stem cell differentiation into myocyte is not sufficient. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is related to the differentiation and proliferation of cardiac stem cells. p27kip1 is a potent cell cycle inhibitor in most organs, especially the heart. In this study, we investigated the relationship among p27, HGF and cardiac stem cells in post-MI cardiac repair. We found that p27 haploinsufficient mice exhibited preserved cardiac function and improved cardiomyocyte renewal compared with wild-type mice. In addition, p27 haploinsufficiency may not increase cardiac stem cell proliferation but could improve their differentiation by increasing mammalian target of rapamycin expression.
Clinical Application of MRI in an Animal Bone Graft Model

We aim to monitor vascularization of early bone perfusion following rabbit lumbar intertransverse bone graft fusion surgery using magnetic resonance imaging assessment. Correlation with graft survival status was evaluated by histological method. Experimental animals were randomly divided into three groups and the model was established by operating bilateral lumbar intertransverse bone graft with different types of bone graft substitute material. The lumbar intertransverse area of three groups of rabbits was scanned via MRI. In addition, histological examinations were performed at the 6<SUP>th</SUP> week after surgery and the quantitative analysis of the osteogenesis in different grafted area was carried out by an image analysis system. The MRI technique can be used for early postoperative evaluation of vascularized bone graft perfusion after transplantation of different bone materials, whereas histological examination allows direct visualization of the osteogenesis process.

The g-C3N4 nanosheets were synthesized by a multistage program calcination with different heating rate, which was an easy, low-cost, and quick method. The morphology and structure of samples were characterized by various techniques. The performance evaluation of the samples was tested by degrading Rhodamine B, Methylene Blue, Tetracycline Hydrochloride and P-Nitrophenol in visible light. The results show that the photodegradation properties of TP-g-C3N4 prepared by multistage program calcination are the best than others. In particular, the degradation rate of TP-g-C3N4 to Rhodamine B reached 99.6% in just 4 min. TP-g-C3N4 catalyst has excellent stability and recycling performance. According to free radical capture experiments, •O2- may be the main active species for pollutant degradation. The possible photocatalytic degradation mechanism was also discussed. Due to the high specific surface area and a narrow band gap, the TP-g-C3N4 becomes a promising photocatalyst.
