        Transcriptional reprogramming caused by cold acclimation in Meloidogyne incognita eggs

        Background Egg hatching in Meloidogyne incognita is a highly regulated developmental event and is strictly correlated with temperature. It has been demonstrated that exposure of M. incognita eggs to low temperature seriously afects their embryonic development. On the other hand, clear evidence has shown that M. incognita is able to overwinter at subzero soil temperatures in certain open felds. Therefore, subtle physiological and genetic adaptations may occur in M. incognita to minimize freezing injuries. Objective A growing body of evidence indicates that cold acclimation plays a large role in an individual organism’s ability to cope with freezing-induced cellular damage. Given the decreasing temperatures in late autumn or early winter, we hypothesize that natural cold acclimation occurring during these periods may assist M. incognita in overwintering. Methods Transcriptomic analysis and functional enrichment analyses were used to identify and annotate diferentially expressed genes (DEGs) in acclimated eggs. The expression of DEGs involved in signal transduction and protein assembly was subsequently validated by reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). Results Relatively long-term preacclimation at 4 °C signifcantly accelerated the hatching of M. incognita eggs that were subjected to freezing at − 1 °C. Using a transcriptomic approach, we further identifed 686 and 460 up- and downregulated transcripts, respectively, in pre-cold-acclimated eggs. Additionally, we used Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway and Gene Ontology annotations for functional enrichment analyses of the diferentially expressed genes (DEGs). Conclusion The phenomenon in which M. incognita safely overwinters at subzero soil temperatures in certain areas may be attributed to the natural cold acclimation occurring in late autumn. Here, the identifcation of DEGs between acclimated and nonacclimated eggs will provide us with promising directions for future studies on the mechanisms of M. incognita freezing tolerance.

        Predictors of Difficult Laryngeal Exposure in Suspension Laryngoscopy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Objectives. Considerable research has been focused on independent predictors of difficult laryngeal exposure (DLE) duringsuspension laryngoscopy. However, previous studies have yielded inconsistent results and conclusions. Consequently,we performed a meta-analysis of the existing literature with the aim of identifying significant parameters for a stan-dardized preoperative DLE prediction system. Methods. We systematically retrieved articles from the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infra-structure, and Wanfang databases up to October 2022. Data from eligible studies were extracted and analyzed usingthe R programming language. The effect measures included odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) fordichotomous variables and mean differences (MDs) with 95% CIs for continuous variables. Results. The search yielded 1,574 studies, of which 18 (involving a total of 2,263 patients) were included. Pooled analysisdemonstrated that patients with DLE during microsurgery tended to be male (OR, 1.73; 95% CI, 1.16–2.57); wereolder (MD, 5.47 years, 95% CI, 2.44–8.51 years); had a higher body mass index (BMI; MD, 1.19 kg/m2; 95% CI,0.33–2.05 kg/m2); had a greater neck circumference (MD, 2.50 cm; 95% CI, 1.56–3.44 cm); exhibited limited mouthopening (MD, −0.52 cm; 95% CI, −0.88 to −0.15 cm); had limited neck flexibility (MD, −10.05 cm; 95% CI, −14.10to −6.00 cm); displayed various other anatomical characteristics; and had a high modified Mallampati index (MMI)or test score (OR, 3.37; 95% CI, 2.07–5.48). Conclusion. We conducted a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the factors relevant to DLE. Ultimately, we identi-fied sex, age, BMI, neck circumference, MMI, inter-incisor gap, hyomental distance, thyromental distance, sternomen-tal distance, and flexion-extension angle as factors highly correlated with DLE.

        A Task Scheduling Strategy in Cloud Computing with Service Differentiation

        Task scheduling is one of the key issues in improving system performance and optimizing resource management in cloud computing environment. In order to provide appropriate services for heterogeneous users, we propose a novel task scheduling strategy with service differentiation, in which the delay sensitive tasks are assigned to the rapid cloud with high-speed processing, whereas the fault sensitive tasks are assigned to the reliable cloud with service restoration. Considering that a user can receive service from either local SaaS (Software as a Service) servers or public IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) cloud, we establish a hybrid queueing network based system model. With the assumption of Poisson arriving process, we analyze the system model in steady state. Moreover, we derive the performance measures in terms of average response time of the delay sensitive tasks and utilization of VMs (Virtual Machines) in reliable cloud. We provide experimental results to validate the proposed strategy and the system model. Furthermore, we investigate the Nash equilibrium behavior and the social optimization behavior of the delay sensitive tasks. Finally, we carry out an improved intelligent searching algorithm to obtain the optimal arrival rate of total tasks and present a pricing policy for the delay sensitive tasks.

        Morphology, microstructure, and mechanical properties of laser-welded joints in GH909 alloy

        The experimental laser welding of GH909 alloy was conducted in this study. The morphology, microstructure, and mechanical properties of laser-welded joints were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, energy diffraction spectroscopy, and other techniques. Results revealed that the microstructure of the welded joints mainly consisted of tiny cellular structures, dendritic structures, and equiaxed crystals. Pores appeared in the interdendritic regions because of the insufficient local feeding of molten metal during solidification. Nb segregation in the heat-affected zone caused liquation cracking, whereas C segregation further induced the formation of carbide precipitates along the grain boundaries during the welding thermal cycle. The instability of the keyhole significantly promoted the escape of the metal vapor/plasma from the hole; as a result, porosity defects formed in the weld. The average tensile strength of the test joints was 756 MPa, which is 93.1 % of that of the base metal. The average microhardness of the weld zone (250 HV) was higher than that of the GH909 alloy substrate (208 HV), peaking at 267 HV. Microcracks appeared along the grain boundaries, proving that the grain boundaries were the weakest areas in the joint.

        Effects of Nb Addition and Heat Treatment on the Crystallization Behavior, Thermal Stability and Soft Magnetic Properties of FeSiBPCuC Alloys

        In this paper, the effect of the replacement of Fe by Nb on the glass forming ability (GFA), the thermal stability and the crystallization behavior of Fe84.5-xSi0.5B10.5P3.5Cu0.7C0.3Nbx (x = 0, 1, 2) alloys were investigated. The results show that the addition of Nb increases the GFA. Increasing Nb content can enhance the first onset crystallization temperature (Tx1), the second onset crystallization temperature (Tx2) and ΔTx (ΔTx = Tx2 - Tx1), which broadens the range of annealing temperatures. The coercivity (Hc) of ribbons decreases with increasing Nb content after annealing at a low heating rate and reach as a minimum of 24.5 A/m when the Nb content is 2 at.%. The process of annealing at a high heating rate distinctly decreases Hc, and all samples present excellent soft magnetic properties. The nanocrystalline alloy exhibits the lowest Hc of 6.4 A/m after annealing at 460 °C for 5 min.

        A Comparative Study of Unsupervised Deep Learning Methods for MRI Reconstruction

        Recently, unsupervised deep learning methods have shown great potential in image processing. Compared with a large-amount demand for paired training data of supervised methods with a specific task, unsupervised methods can learn a universal and explicit prior information on data distribution and integrate it into the reconstruction process. Therefore, it can be used in various image reconstruction environments without showing degraded performance. The importance of unsupervised learning in MRI reconstruction appears to be growing. Nevertheless, the establishment of prior formulation in unsupervised deep learning varies a lot depending on mathematical approximation and network architectures. In this work, we summarized basic concepts of unsupervised deep learning comprehensively and compared performances of several state-of-the-art unsupervised learning methods for MRI reconstruction.
