The purpose of the study was to analyze the Kinematics component of O-soto-gari in Judo. The subjects were 4 male college judo caliber players. They were filmed at 100f/sec. The analyzed Variables were angular velocity and angular accee ation of leg and angular change during O-soto-gari. The results were summarized as follow; 1. During Kuzushi-Tsukuri phase the stride and volocities were 1.093m and 1.497m/sec in each. 2. And during in the Tsukuri-Kake phase the maximum angular velocities in 0.2 seconds were 400 degree/sec in low leg and 350 degree/sec in upper leg. The maximum angular acceleration was -4000 degree/sec²in low leg and 4000 degree/sec²in upper leg. 3. During Kake phase maximum angular velocities were 680 degree/sec in low leg and 400 degree/sec in upper leg. And maximum angular acceleration was 9500 degree/sec² in low leg and 3000 degree/sec²in upper leg. 4. In order to analyze the Kinematic and Kinetic components of O-soto-gari accuretely, the study should be performed with 3-D and force plat-form system.

The PWM inverter system are widely used to control the induction motor, and their switching frequency rises to the higher for better performances. But the upper should be limited for safe operation as well as switching loss reduction in the power transistor inverters. This makes the level of the audible noise much increased. In order to overcome such noise problem, a new PWM control technique is proposed in the power transistor inverters, of which carrier frequency is to change a according to the slope of the sine wave reference signal. As a result the frequency spectra are improved and hence the audible noise couble be reduced greatly.

The Effects of Recovery Pattern on Changes of Blood Components. The purpose of the study was to investigate effects of recovery pattern on changes of blood components in endurance running with the same work intensity and 5 different relief levels were used as protochol. Used 10 male endurance runners who belong to H University students as subjects, and the results were summarized as follows; with the same work intensity the increasing ratio of lactic acid concentration in blood was shown significant differences (p<0.01) in accordance with recovery patterns. To improve capacity of tolerence against lactic acid accumalation, jogging with 60% of individual maximal speed was superior to jogging with 90% of individual maximal speed and 2 or 4 minutes of passive recovery between work sets. Lactic acid production was significantly increased in jogging with 60% of individual maximal speed, therefore, to improve anaerobic endurance, 2 minutes of passive recovery was recommended because of more rapid break down of Lactic acid accumulation with 2 minutes, or more passive recovery.

Axl receptor tyrosine kinase has been implicated in cancer progression, invasion, and metastasis in various cancer types. Axl overexpression has been observed in many cancers, and selective inhibitors of Axl, including R428, may be promising therapeutic agents for several human cancers, such as breast, lung, and pancreatic cancers. Here, we examined the cell growth inhibition mediated by R428 and auranofin individually as well as in combination in the human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDAMB- 231 to identify new advanced combination treatments for human breast cancer. Our data showed that combination therapy with R428 and auranofin markedly inhibited cancer cell proliferation. Isobologram analyses of these cells indicated a clear synergism between R428 and auranofin with a combination index value of 0.73. The combination treatment promoted apoptosis as indicated by caspase 3 activation and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase cleavage. Cancer cell migration was also significantly inhibited by this combination treatment. Moreover, we found that combination therapy significantly increased the expression level of Bax, a mitochondrial proapoptotic factor, but decreased that of the X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein. Furthermore, the suppression of cell viability and induction of Bax expression by the combination treatment were recovered by treatment with N-acetylcysteine. In conclusion, our data demonstrated that combined treatment with R428 and auranofin synergistically induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells and may thus serve as a novel and valuable approach for cancer therapy.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>3-Hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP) is an important platform chemical, and biological production of 3-HP from glycerol as a carbon source using glycerol dehydratase (GDHt) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) has been revealed to be effective because it involves a relatively simple metabolic pathway and exhibits higher yield and productivity than other biosynthetic pathways. Despite the successful attempts of 3-HP production from glycerol, the biological process suffers from problems arising from low activity and inactivation of the two enzymes. To apply the directed evolutionary approach to engineer the 3-HP production system, we constructed a synthetic selection device using a 3-HP-responsive transcription factor and developed a selection approach for screening 3-HP-producing microorganisms. The method was applied to an ALDH library, specifically aldehyde-binding site library of alpha-ketoglutaric semialdehyde dehydrogenase (KGSADH). Only two serial cultures resulted in enrichment of strains showing increased 3-HP production, and an isolated KGSADH variant enzyme exhibited a 2.79-fold higher catalytic efficiency toward its aldehyde substrate than the wild-type one. This approach will provide the simple and efficient tool to engineer the pathway enzymes in metabolic engineering.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A synthetic selection device was designed responding to 3-HP concentration. </LI> <LI> ALDH in the 3-HP pathway was engineered through a simple selection method. </LI> <LI> An ALDH variant exhibited a 2.79-fold improvement in the catalytic efficiency. </LI> <LI> <I>E. coli</I> with ALDH variant showed a 25% higher productivity than the parental strain. </LI> <LI> The developed strategy was highly efficient for engineering the pathway enzymes. </LI> </UL> </P>
