        The hopping variable range conduction in amorphous InAs thin films

        This paper studies the influence of temperature on electrical resistivity in α-InAs thin films between 30 K-2K based on the analysis of Mott VRH model and ES VRH model. The effect of the interactions between electrons at lower temperature must be considered, therefore, ES VRH conduction will dominate mechanism, and the crossover from Mott to ES VRH conduction is observed about 7 K. Based on available experiment data and VRH conduction model, the parameters of VRH conduction are determined. And the calculated values of TC are consistent with the experimental results. In addition, RM/ξ, ΔM/kT, RES/ξ and ΔES/kT are satisfied with the validity of Mott and ES models. Furthermore, the temperature dependence of resistivity at low temperature obeys a universal scaling law, which well describes the overall temperature range of VRH conduction. However, the values of T’ M from the universal function are two order of magnitudes lower than TM deduced from fitting experiment.

        Electrical conduction mechanism and photon-generated carrier recombination process in amorphous InSb films

        Temperature dependence of dark conductivity and photoconductivity has been studied in amorphous InSb thin films in the temperature range of 120―300 K. The experimental data suggest that conduction in the high temperature range occurs in the extended states; conduction in the intermediate temperature range is due to thermally assisted tunneling of charge carriers in localized states near the band edge; while conduction in low temperature range takes place through variable range hopping of charge carriers in the localized states near the Fermi level. The temperature dependence of photoconductivity shows that the temperature region is divided into two regions.Moreover the result of intensity dependence of steady state photoconductivity indicates that bimolecular recombination at high temperatures and monomolecular at low temperatures in amorphous InSb thin films.

        Parameter Identification of Wiener Models by Multi-innovation Algorithms

        An output nonlinear Wiener system is rewritten as a standard least squares form by reconstructing the input-output items of its difference equation. Multi-innovation based stochastic gradient (MISG) algorithm and its derivate algorithms are introduced to formulate identification methods of Wiener models. In order to increase the convergence performance of stochastic gradient (SG) algorithm, the scalar innovation in SG algorithm is expanded to an innovation vector which contains more information about input-output data. Furthermore, a proper forgetting factor for SG algorithm is intro-duced to get a faster convergence rates. The comparisons of convergence performance and estimation errors of proposed algorithms are illustrated by two numerical simulation examples.

        Crystalline Structures and Transitions of Poly(phthalazinone ether sulfone)/Monomer Casting Nylon 6 Composites

        The crystalline structures and transitions of poly(phthalazinone ether sulfone) (PPES)/monomer casting (MC) nylon 6 composites were studied by wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WXRD) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. WXRD analyses demonstrated that the γ-form crystals of quenched samples could transform into α-form crystals by raising the annealing temperature. And increasing the PPES content promoted the γ→α form transition, which was conducive to crystallizing in the stable α-form crystal. FTIR analyses indicated that the α-form crystals of the pristine samples could transform to γ-form crystals through treating with aqueous I2/KI. The inclusion of PPES to MC nylon 6 hindered the α→γ form transition, which was conducive to crystallizing in the stable α-form crystal. Two consistent observations have come from these studies: PPES favored the α-form crystal in PPES/MC nylon 6 composites. The crystalline transition mechanism was the strong interactions between PPES and MC nylon 6 anchored the antiparallel chains hydrogen bonding of the α-form crystal.

        Influence of Spatial Distribution of Pores on NMR Transverse Relaxation Time in Pebbly Sandstone

        The relationship between transverse relaxation time (T₂) and pore size distribution is the basis of NMR applications for rocks. However, the equations for T₂ are not accurate enough in rocks with complicated pore structures. Taking pebbly sandstone from the northwestern Junggar Basin in China as an example, the aim of this study is to discover the spatial distribution of pores and its influence on T₂. Porosity, permeability, micro-images and T₂ distributions were acquired from rock samples, and pore structure parameters were obtained from binarized thin section images. The results show that as the grain size increases, the proportion of dissolution pores increases and the spatial distribution of pores changes from a random to a clustered pattern. The relaxation of a hydrogen atom takes longer and T₂ is higher in dissolution pores compared with those in intergranular pores. New equations for T₂ that consider the spatial distribution of pores are proposed.
