Pathological Lesions and Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase Expressions in the Liver of Mice Experimentally Infected with Clonorchis sinensis

        Qing-Li Yang,Ji-Qing Shen,Yan Xue,Xiao-Bing Cheng,Zhi-Hua Jiang,Yi-Chao Yang,Ying-Dan Chen,Xiao-Nong Zhou 대한기생충학열대의학회 2015 The Korean Journal of Parasitology Vol.53 No.6

The nitric oxide (NO) formation and intrinsic nitrosation may be involved in the possible mechanisms of liver fluke-associated carcinogenesis. We still do not know much about the responses of inducible NO synthase (iNOS) induced by Clonorchis sinensis infection. This study was conducted to explore the pathological lesions and iNOS expressions in the liver of mice with different infection intensity levels of C. sinensis. Extensive periductal inflammatory cell infiltration, bile duct hyperplasia, and fibrosis were commonly observed during the infection. The different pathological responses in liver tissues strongly correlated with the infection intensity of C. sinensis. Massive acute spotty necrosis occurred in the liver parenchyma after a severe infection. The iNOS activity in liver tissues increased, and iNOS-expressing cells with morphological differences were observed after a moderate or severe infection. The iNOS-expressing cells in liver tissues had multiple origins.

Characterization of tyrosinase inhibitory constituents from the aerial parts of <i>Humulus japonicus</i> using LC-MS/MS coupled online assay

        Yang, Hyo Hee,Oh, Kyung-Eon,Jo, Yang Hee,Ahn, Jong Hoon,Liu, Qing,Turk, Ayman,Jang, Jae Young,Hwang, Bang Yeon,Lee, Ki Yong,Lee, Mi Kyeong Pergamon 2018 Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry Vol.26 No.2

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In the screening of natural products for the development as cosmetic ingredients, the EtOAc-soluble fraction of <I>Humulus japonicus</I> showed tyrosinase inhibitory activity. HPLC-MS/MS coupled online tyrosinase assay of EtOAc-soluble fraction of <I>H. japonicus</I> characterized the twenty-eight constituents including two unknown ones and their tyrosinase inhibitory activity. Fractionation of <I>H. japonicus</I> using various chromatographic techniques yielded thirty-eight compounds. The chemical structures of isolated compounds were identified by spectroscopic analysis. As characterized by HPLC-MS/MS analysis, we isolated twenty-four predicted compounds and further identified two unknown ones, named humulusides A (<B>1</B>) and B (<B>2</B>). Additional ten compounds were also identified by purification. Tyrosinase inhibitory activity of isolated compounds were evaluated, which was closely correlated with the results from HPLC-MS/MS coupled online tyrosinase assay. Consistent with predicted data, two major compounds, <I>trans</I>-<I>N</I>-coumaroyltyramine (<B>14</B>) and <I>cis</I>-<I>N</I>-coumaroyltyramine (<B>15</B>) showed tyrosinase inhibition with IC50 values of 40.6 and 36.4 μM. Taken together, <I>H. japonicus</I> is suggested as whitening ingredient in cosmetic products. In addition, HPLC-MS/MS coupled tyrosinase assay is powerful tool for predicting active compounds with short time and limited amounts, although identification of new compounds and verification of predicted data are also needs to be demonstrated by further experiment.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The aerial parts of <I>Humulus japonicus</I> showed tyrosinase inhibitory activity. </LI> <LI> HPLC-MS/MS coupled online tyrosinase assay of <I>H. japonicus</I> was performed<I>.</I> </LI> <LI> Twenty-eight constituents and their tyrosinase inhibitory activity were predicted. </LI> <LI> Fractionation of <I>H. japonicus</I> yielded thirty-eight compounds including two new compounds. </LI> <LI> Constituents and tyrosinase inhibition were well matched with HPLC-MS/MS coupled assay. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Effect of guide wall on jet impingement cooling in blade leading edge channel

        Qing-Yang Zhao,정희윤,Seok Min Choi,조형희 대한기계학회 2016 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.30 No.2

The characteristics of fluid flow and heat transfer, which are affected by the guide wall in a jet impinged leading edge channel, have been investigated numerically using three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes analysis via the shear stress transport turbulence model and gamma theta transitional turbulence model. A constant wall heat flux condition has been applied to the leading edge surface. The jet-to-surface distance is constant, which is three times that of the jet diameter. The arrangement of the guide wall near the jet hole is set as a variable. Results presented in this study include the Nusselt number contour, velocity vector, streamline with velocity, and local Nusselt number distribution along the central line on the leading edge surface. The average Nusselt number and average pressure loss between jet nozzle and channel exit are calculated to assess the thermal performance. The application of the guide wall is aimed at improving heat transfer uniformity on the leading edge surface. Results indicated that the streamwise guide wall ensures the vertical jet impingement flow intensity and prevents the flow after impingement to reflux into jet flow. Thus, a combined rectangular guide wall benefits the average heat transfer, thermal performance and heat transfer distribution uniformity.

A practical coherency model for spatially varying ground motions

        Yang, Qing-Shan,Chen, Ying-Jun Techno-Press 2000 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.9 No.2

Based on the discussion about some empirical coherency models resulted from earthquake-induced ground motion recordings at the SMART-1 array in Taiwan, and a heuristic model of the coherency function from elementary notions of stationary random process theory and a few simplifying assumptions regarding the propagation of seismic waves, a practical coherency model for spatially varying ground motions, which can be applied in aseismic analysis and design, is proposed, and the regressive coefficients are obtained using least-square fitting technique from the above recordings.

Nuclide assignment for an isolated band observed in the 10B + 114Cd reaction

        Yang Qing-Yu,Song Li-Na,Ma Ying-Jun,Yang Dong,Ma Ke-Yan,Wu Xiao-Guang,Zheng Yun,Li Cong-Bo 한국물리학회 2021 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.79 No.3

Three experiments based on the nuclear reactions 14N + 110Pd, 10B + 114Cd and 11B + 114Cd were performed. Coincidences between γ-rays emitted from these reactions were measured with the same detection array which consisted of 14 HPGe detectors. A new band structure was identified using an offline analysis of coincidence data. Because of the isomeric nature of the bandhead, the new band cannot be connected to any known state in any residual nuclei of the used reactions. To assign it to a specific nucleus, we evaluated the experimental population intensities of various known bands in known residual nuclei and investigated the entrance channel effects in the three different experiments. The population intensity patterns of the known bands were observed to exhibit regular systematics. Based on such experimental systematics, we suggest that the most reasonable nuclide assignment for the new band is the 120I nucleus.

      • Cellular and ultrastructural changes in the seedling roots of upland rice (Oryza sativa) under the stress of two allelochemicals from Ageratina adenophora

Yang, Guo-Qing,Wan, Fang-Hao,Guo, Jian-Ying,Liu, Wan-Xue The Korean Society of Weed Science and The Turfgra 2011 Weed Biology and Management Vol.11 No.3

Two sesquiterpene-derivative compounds, 4,7-dimethyl-1-(propan-2-ylidene)-1,4,4a,8atetrahydronaphthalene-2,6(1H, 7H)-dione (DTD) and 6-hydroxy-5-isopropyl-3,8-dimethyl-4a,5,6,7,8,8a-hexahydronaphthalen-2(1H)-one (HHO), are the major putative allelochemicals of the aqueous leachates of Ageratina adenophora.A laboratory experiment was conducted, using the hydroponic method, to evaluate the cellular and ultrastructural changes in the seedling roots of upland rice under the stress of DTD and HHO. The subsequent changes were observed in the treated upland rice roots in comparison with their controls. The scanning electron microscopy results showed that the DTD-treated root tip cells turned into an irregular arrangement and shape and that most of them were wizened, with a poor cytoplasm. In the HHO treatment, the root tips had many irregularly shaped cells, with a greater number of sloughing cells, as well as short, wide cells that resulted in spherical and wider, but shorter, roots. At the ultrastructural level, DTD and HHO induced irregularly shaped and lobed nuclei, increased cytoplasmic vacuolation, reduced ribosome density and dictyosomes, and a reduced number of mitochondria in the cells, which indicated limited protein transportation and a reduced capability to export substances for cell development and growth in the upland rice seedling roots. The overall effect of HHO on the upland rice seedlings was more pronounced than that of DTD.

      • Diabetes Mellitus Increases the Risk of Bladder Cancer: An Updated Meta-analysis

Yang, Xiao-Qing,Xu, Chen,Sun, Yan,Han, Rui-Fa Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.4

Purpose: Studies have indicated that diabetes mellitus (DM) is a risk factor for bladder cancer; however, not all evidence supports this conclusion. The aim of this meta-analysis was to collate and evaluate all primary observational studies investigating the risk of bladder cancer associated with DM. Methods: The PubMed and Google Scholar databases were searched to identify studies that estimated the association of DM and bladder cancer. Summary effect estimates were derived using a random-effects meta-analysis model. Results: A total of 23 studies (8 case-control studies, 15 cohort studies) including 643,683 DM and 4,819,656 non-DM cases were identified. Analysis of all studies showed that DM was associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer compared with non-DM overall (OR=1.68, 95% CI 1.32-2.13). Analysis of subgroups demonstrated this to be the case in both case-control studies (OR=1.59, 95% CI 1.28-1.97, $I^2$=58%) and cohort studies (RR=1.70, 95% CI 1.23-2.33, $I^2$=96%). There was no gender difference in DM-associated bladder cancer risk. Bladder cancer risk was increased in Asia and the North America region, but not in Europe. Furthermore, DM-associated bladder cancer risk was obviously higher in Asia than North America and Europe or in those with Caucasian ethnicity. With extension of follow-up time, the bladder cancer risk was not increased for the patients with DM. Conclusions: This meta-analysis provided further evidence supporting theDM association with a significantly higher risk of bladder cancer obtained from observational studies.

        Yang Shang-Yang,Li Shu-Cai,Xue Yi-Guo,Zhang Qing-Song 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.10

Triaxial compression tests had been performed to determine the properties of the surrounding rock. The displacement and stress of surrounding rock had been analyzed according to Silin 2 at Yungui railway under three kinds of conditions: the initial state, excavation without supporting , and supporting after excavation. Plane strain FEM was established to analyze the stability of the surrounding rock. Contrasted the monitor measuring data, the results showed that the most unfavorable position in the tunnel was found at the ridge side of the arch, and the implementation of support afforded to ensure the stability of surrounding rock, and the design of the early support approach had the ability to meet the safety requirements. The results had certain significance for understanding the mechanical behavior of shallow tunnel in unsymmetrical strata. tunnel, mechanical behaviour, numerical simulation, deformation, stability.
